Sans Souci - Renaissance Hotel Cleveland Reviews List
Sans Souci - Renaissance Hotel Cleveland
Sans Souci (san-susi), "without worry", is a Mediterranean specialties restaurant with an interior design concept reflecting the southeast region of France known as "Provence". Sans Souci offers a casual & relaxed atmosphere for dining.
"My wife and I order Pan fried COD and it came out overcooked. It was on a bed of tomatoes which were cold instead of breaded warm tomato slices, which would have kept the fish warm. This is one of our favorite restaurants and we will return, hopefully for a better meal."

Review 3 for Sans Souci - Renaissance Hotel Cleveland
"This is the second time I've eaten there within a few months. The first time it was busy and I pushed off the medicore food on that. This time there were only 4 or 5 tables busy. My food was over cooked, lacked taste and the whipped potatoes came cold and lumpy. The ambience is good and the service was very good. This restaurante has been around for a long while. If it keeps serving food like I've now had on two occasions, I'm not sure how much longer it will be around with the many great restaurants in the area."

Review 4 for Sans Souci - Renaissance Hotel Cleveland
"Wonderful setting and attentive wait service. Had dinner reservations for weeknight, only one other diner in restaurant at the time. Service was quick and she checked on us often, refilling water and asking us whether we needed additional items. The eggplant ravioli with mediterranean vegetables was quite good. The crab cakes were very tasty, mostly lump crab meat and light. We have enjoyed dinners here in the past. Definitely recommend to those who are staying overnight at the Renaissance Cleveland hotel."

"My wife and I celebrated our 12th wedding anniversary with an overnight at the Renaissance Hotel. We ate dinner and breakfast at Sans Souci. We enjoyed both meals and will probably choose eat there again if we are staying at the hotel."

Review 7 for Sans Souci - Renaissance Hotel Cleveland
"The service was great. Sans Souci is not the old Sans Souci. The decor is outdated and the food is very underwhelming. My steak looked as well as tasted like a cafeteria Salibsury steak. My boyfriend had a lamb chop that was cooked in a crock pot. Don't get me wrong, I love crock pots, but who wants a lamb chop that was slow cooked? Just because it is tender, does not make it have flavor. Disappointing :-("

Review 9 for Sans Souci - Renaissance Hotel Cleveland
"Beautiful, but the service was extremely poor, and the food was very disappointing. Felt like the offerings for downtown restaurant week were terribly disappointing. Won't be back."

Review 11 for Sans Souci - Renaissance Hotel Cleveland
"Went for Clev Restaurant week. I had surveyed all the restaurant menus & found this one to be most to our liking. The maitre d was very pleasant & seated us promptly. Our waitress was friendly, efficient, and joked with us a couple times - you can tell she knew her audience & that she could get away with it. The food was outstanding - I had pirogi, braised lamb, and pumpkin bread with ice cream for dessert. It was all prepared well with generous portions. We didn't order from the regular menu, but I thought the prices were consistent with an upper-end restaurant & the choices were varied. Would eat here again."

Review 13 for Sans Souci - Renaissance Hotel Cleveland
"The service was super great! The food was good but thought they could have more of a variety. Also, more of a selection of desserts would have been nice."

Review 14 for Sans Souci - Renaissance Hotel Cleveland
"We heard that Chef Brett Montgomery was nominated as one of 5 best chefs in America so we were excited to taste his menu. It was very good. The food was cooked to perfection the flavors wonderful and the temperature was good. I wish I knew before dining there that we could park in the hotel parking garage and they would stamp our ticket. The ambience is kind of tattered French Country. The menu had enough of a variety to please just about anyone. The deserts were fabulous!(and I'm not a big desert eater)The nice thing about this location is we could walk over to the Casino without going outside. When it is cold in the dead of winter that is a real benefit. I was surprised that this restaurant wasn't as busy as it should be. Hidden Gem!"

Review 15 for Sans Souci - Renaissance Hotel Cleveland
"Beautiful rooms, excellent food. We sat at a window table looking out on Public Square which provided quite interesting entertainment. One of our favorite places for a special occasion, even better with the special Restaurant Week menu."

Review 16 for Sans Souci - Renaissance Hotel Cleveland
"Went here for the Cleveland Restaurant Week menu. The first course was killer! the pierogi's were amazing and both my date and I loved them. My issue with the meal portion was that I had ordered the steak, and I'm pretty sure they are all pre cooked, and not cooked to order- even though the waitress asked how I would like it done. That being said, I had asked for medium-rare and it was clearly well-done. Obviously disappointed. The desserts were also fine.
As far as service goes, the waitresses were nice, however, they did not follow a lot of unspoken waitress rules. For instance, they would reach across us to fill water, instead of walking around the table (so therefore there was a lot of traffic above my meal). Also, when desse"

Review 17 for Sans Souci - Renaissance Hotel Cleveland
"Food was fine but unremarkable. Very nice but veteran time-card-punching server. Obnoxious table behind us. Dressed up and went for romantic dinner because we went 15 years ago and it was a great restaurant. Don't know if it had an off night, or if it's tired out."

Review 18 for Sans Souci - Renaissance Hotel Cleveland
"Food was wonderful but the menu seemed plain and ordinary. We ate on a Friday night and there were only 3 other couples and a six top. It certainly has the potential to be the great restaurant it once was, especially with the new casino opened next door."

Review 22 for Sans Souci - Renaissance Hotel Cleveland
"This is a hidden treasure in Cleveland. Sans Souci is a must stop for any visitor to Cleveland. The food is top caliber. I experienced several dishes and each one is remarkable. The chefs are very talented and have a passion for food. The menu is a reflection of the food one would find in the South of France. The service is remarkable as well. A visitor is not rushed through the meal. They are encouraged to relax and savor it. How many American restaurants allow you to do that? The wait staff is attentive to every need. The ambiance is relaxing. If you are able, I recommend getting a window table. You get a feel of Cleveland. This is a MUST stop on a visit to Cleveland."

Review 23 for Sans Souci - Renaissance Hotel Cleveland
"My husband and I were a little disappointed. The service was average and food was also average. I don't think for the price I would go back. The menu was limited. It was very noisy, there were only a few tables occupied in the entire restaurant and we were able to hear everyones conversations."

Review 24 for Sans Souci - Renaissance Hotel Cleveland
"Poorly run restaurant. Service is below average and management staff was even worse. After waiting for a few martinis to be made, our group of 5 was told the bar was too busy to make our drinks due to a large party in the hotel bar and told by manager to order wine. Needless to say , we cancelled our meals and left. For the 45 minutes we were there, the appetizers were of below average quality and the waitress was better suited to be working at Denny's."

Review 25 for Sans Souci - Renaissance Hotel Cleveland
"Sans Souci is truly one of Cleveland's hidden treasures. The historic decor compliments the food, which is creative and vibrant. I recommend the walleye in citrus reduction. Now, this creativity is not only at dinner time. It can be found at breakfast as well. The menu, be it breakfast or dinner, reflects the culture that is Cleveland. You do not get that at cookie cutter hotel restaurants. It is my opinion that a trip to Cleveland is not complete without a visit to San Souci."
