"This was our first visit to Passion8 as we celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary. The food was very good and the presentation was excellent. We viewed our meal as fine dining, but the surroundings were not. Fortunately, we had requested to be placed in the back room, which was quieter, but the main dining area was very loud. The decor and overall ambience was at a much lower level than the food, which detracted from the overall experience, unfortunately. It was surprising to see the wait staff in jeans, although they were very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The overall experience was good because of the quality of the food and the friendliness of the staff."

"I had never been here before and figured that I would try it for Mother's Day Brunch with my family based on reading positive reviews. There was really nothing great about it. The food portions were more or less Tapas style yet the price paid was not. For a $35 brunch, no drinks were included of any kind. Food quality was average as well, nothing to write home about. The service too was spotty at best. We had several folks with nothing to drink for 15-20 minutes. There were 5 of us, 2 of which were kids and we did not drink alcohol. With an 18% tip we were about $170 and I for one was still hungry when I left. Will not be going back."

"If you are desiring one of the best steaks to pass your pallet and some of the most delectable sides (calamari was fabulous) and are not looking for a candle lit romantic rondevous, then this is a dining experience you will value. Plate cost match the quality of the food and are a little out of sync with the setting. We will dine here again as food quality trumps ambience as for our preferences."

"From the amuse bouche to the famous calamari to the local farm sourced entrees and the delightful desserts, we had a wonderful evening at Passion8 Bistro! Very attentive server, and one of the friendly owners stopped by the table to say hello. We left our credit card behind and were impressed by their quick detective work to find our Open Table reservation and contact someone in the group to let us know. Only downside: parking lot was tight; recommend carpooling!"

"Everything was fresh and we liked the fact that produce and bread was local. We were there for our anniversary, and the staff even gave us a card signed by all who worked there. The food was excellent, and we'd definitely go back! We've been twice and have yet to be disappointed."

"I've been here many times, each time is better than than the last. I requested a chef's tasting, 6-7 courses, as a good friend was visiting from DC. No menu, we just sat down and enjoyed an amazing night of food and drink. Nothing we were given was on their daily menu, 100% customized, talk about being treated like royalty. Our server, Paula, helped make the evening one of a kinda. My friend from DC was amazed that he can not find an experience like this in our capital. If you have not had a chef's tasting here, you have not eaten at Passion8."

"Smell outdoors from garbage (fish smell) Inside limited lighting. Pork chops too large and difficult to cut. We have been there several times but last few visits not impressionable enough to dine there again. Chef came out and talked to a couple beside our table He did not make an effort to greet other patrons after greeting diners beside our table. A simple hello and glad you are dinning with us this evening would have made such a nice impression."

"4/24/2013 - it was our first time and it was a special occasion which was my lovely wife's Birthday. Wow - unbelievably good in all aspects. The Food was beyond delicious and healthy as well. Very innovative and creative dishes - I ordered and ate something I would never have eaten together (Scallops paired with Olives, Greens, Grapes, Strawberries and Walnuts in a very delicious sauce - served and presented on a large rectangular plate). It was simply beyond what I would have ever expected - tasted wonderful. The service was above and beyond expectations - it was like being at a 5 Star Restaurant in NY or any of the larger cities (this is not a joke as we've been to NY several times and ate at some of the most world renown ones."

"We had a wonderful time for my wife's birthday. The lighting was dim as the sun went down, but the ambiance was still very good. The food was great. We asked the bartender to send us something special to drink and they did very well, after dinner we asked for a "caramel tasting drink," she made us a caramel martini that was delicious."

"Passion8 provided the best dining experience we've had in the Charlotte area and rivals some of the best dining we've had in larger cities. The menu evolves based on what is available as the Chef leans heavily towards local farm fresh ingredients. The pork chop and scallop main dishes on the menu during our visit were fantastic as were the other courses. Our server was excellent, and we were visited by one of the owners to ensure that we were having a fantastic experience."

"The food was superb. The three of us ordered different appetizers and entrees, and sampled each. We all thought each selection was very fresh and prepared exquisitely. Our waitress was highly knowledgeable and provided excellent service. She exceeded our expectations so much that we left her a 25% tip. The decor is European and seating is limited so I recommend a reservation in advance. We went on a rainy Thursday evening and almost every table was occupied. The menu changes daily, and the prices ranged from $24-$42 for the main entrees (including sides) the evening that we went. We will definitely be returning on special occasions and with out-of-town guests."

"The food was delicious, but might be a little too pretentious or complicated for some. A few "unadventurous" diners in our group had trouble finding something they wanted to eat. However, the server was very accommodating and asked the chef to switch up the entree/side dish combo to suit one diner's request. We had a last-minute change to the number of people in our group, but the restaurant was accommodating in every way. It was still a little chilly for outdoor dining, but their little patio looked like it would be nice on a summer night."

"This was our second dining experience and the food was once again top notch. We started with the calamari, which was not as sweet as the last visit but very tender and perfectly cooked. I then had the pork chop, which was possibly the largest chop I've ever seen! Cooked perfectly, served with polenta and collards which were out of this world. One of the things that brings me back is that the food is locally sourced.
The service was prompt, friendly and accurate. That's a rare trifecta anymore! I will continue to recommend this restaurant to anyone who will listen"

"We went to Passion8 Bistro for our anniversary and our already high expectations were exceeded by far! Virtually any of our friends who have been there gave it rave reviews, but our experience was even better!
Rarely will you find a chef, staff and owners more passionate (yes, it's in the name!) than at this place. The food is outstanding, every bite is an experience. The ambiance is quiet, elegant and romantic, yet extremely friendly and local. Simply charming!
Talking of local, they exclusively use to ingredients from local sources. Our waitress was extremely well trained and very friendly without being overbearing.
We were very happy and rate Passion8 Bistro #1 in Charlotte and surroundings with nothing else coming close!"

"I was very excited to see a promising restaurant in Fort Mill and have sinced given it two chances. Unfortunately, the experience has not lived up to its positioning, promise and price-point.
While the frequently changing menu is interesting and also largely comprised of organic items, there is nothing special or even Michelin-worthy about the resulting dishes.
This restaurant certainly serves the "upscale-niche" in Fort Mill, personally, I will be more than happy to drive the extra miles to Charlotte or even better to my favourite place GLOBAL in Ballantyne."

"Had a wonderful dinner on 3/8. We both had the house cured salmon, which was creative and delicious. The scallops with forbidden rice was excellent, as was the amberjack fish with mussels. The server helped select the wine which was quite good. We will definetly be back."

"We were seated at a table near the swing door that leads to the kitchen, so it was a bit disturbing to have waiters come and go right by our table. The food was very good although we found it overpriced, portions were small, so we did not think the value was good. Ambience was cozy, service was good. We also thought that for the price point, it was odd to see the wait staff in jeans and sheets of brown paper placed on top of the white tablecloths."

"There were 4 of us for dinner. Can't say enough about the service while we were there. It was great. The place was a little loud to be too intimate. The music was up pretty high for a place that small. But it was not too distracting to enjoy the dinner.
The pork belly and calamari appetizers were delicious. Between us we had the short ribs, pork chop, chicken, and fish. Everyone loved it.
Will definitely be back."

"Often you forget how great a restaurant is when you have visited it for some time. Went with a group of four for dinner on a Tuesday. The place was packed, very glad we had reservations. Called a few days before asking if we could order mussels, which are not always on the menu, they owner was very accommodating. Simply outstanding. Since all four of us were ordering mussels they sent them out "family style" and two different styles. We ask for a wine recommendation for the dish, which was spot on. Could not have asked for, r probably found, a better meal in Charlotte. If time allowed I would dine here every night. Without question the best restaurant in the city and one of the top 5 in the entire South East."

"My first time at P8B and was not disappointed. The food is high end and our server was very knowledgeable about the food and how it was prepared (how many servers knew what sous vide is done and what a bacalao is?). Food changes regularly so be read to be adventurous. Location is a bit in the middle of nowhere but once inside you forget where you are. Make reservations early as they get booked for prime dinner times almost every night. Also not inexpensive. I believe they get $$ but we spent $260 for 2 people (this was with a $75 bottle of wine but still you can do the math for the rest). Definitely an experience to have if you are into fine dining."

"I am not sure that words can describe the quality of food that Chef Luca prepares. It is obvious that he has a tremendous passion for what he does. Everything is delightfully mouth-watering and seems to be masterpieces created by a superb culinary artist. "We love that they source locally whenever possible. Everything was expertly prepared and delicious! The menu changes daily, and our entrees were their seared scallops with brussels and a lovely spaghetti squash. The scallops were accented with a very tasty vanilla foam. The portions were generous. Chef Luca knew we were visiting from Philadelphia and took time to welcome us to this gem of a restaurant. We will definitely return next time we are in the area."

"We had read great reviews on OpenTable as well as personal recommendations so we decided to celebrate our wedding anniversary at Passionat8 Bistro. I am extremely happy that we did. The service was excellent and the food was absolutely superb. I truly appreciate that they source local, fresh food. My husbands steak was cooked to perfection and I tried the seared scallops (never had them before) and they were really tasty. The service was excellent and the staff very knowledgeable."

"We've been going to Passion8 for years now...it seldom disappoints. The food is some of the best around; you just can't get hung up on the building (small and in a hard to reach location). Chef Luca puts together a menu daily from what he is able to get at the farmers market. e had the pork chops...they are like no other, and Chef Luca had driven to Asheville that morning to get them...WOW! Those chops were cooked and seasoned to perfection.
We enjoy the fact that this restaurant takes it's time between courses, kind of a European tradition. This makes for a very relaxing and enjoyable night out. If you want large plates of food quickly, go to Carrabas.
The restaurant is small and quaint looking inside, but it can get very noisy."

"The meal that my husband and I had at Passion 8 Bistro was literally the best meal I have ever had. Matt Krenz, the chef there, is incredibly creative, passionate, and talented. The staff was gracious and attentive. This place is all about the little details and they don't miss one. My favorite dishes were the raw snapper appetizer and the rabbit entree. Amazing!"

"We enjoyed our Restaurant Week meal at Passion8 Bistro. The food was outstanding, the suggested wine pairings were top-notch, and the servers were descriptive and thorough. Our one complaint was that it is very dim in that restaurant, making it a little difficult to read the menu. They are aware of this, since they had little flashlights to hand out to help. I would have liked the lighting one notch brighter, so my old eyes could enjoy the sight of what I was eating as well as the taste and smell. But the food was really well prepared and thought out; we'll go there again!"

"Don't be fooled by the building, which is in an industrial area and looks like a stiff breeze would knock it down. Inside is magic! The selections were inventive and served artfully, and nothing was lost in the presentation. The food was delicious. Our server made the perfect selection in wine to go with our meal. If you want something off the beaten track and truly special, give this restaurant a try. It's really tiny, so make reservations well in advance."
