Warm and inviting, casual fine dining at Café Provence is a truly memorable experience. Located in the restored historic section of downtown Brandon, Vermont—Chef Robert Barral, former Executive Chef of the New England Culinary Institute and The Four Seasons in Boston, crafts our seasonal menu to showcase not only his talents as a chef, but also highlight the best meats, cheeses, and vegetables that local farms have to offer.
"Chef Robert Barral's Cafe Provence is a world-class restaurant located in little Brandon, Vermont. We started out with NE Clam Chowder, which was among the best I ever had. The Seafood Stew was excellent. A great wine list, including wines se;ected particularly for this restaurant"

"Very nice atmosphere and excellent service but the best part is the food! Everything we had, from the appetizers to dessert, was the best I have ever experienced. The Cheesecake is creamy and delicate, the salads are fresh and tasty, and the tenderloin melts in your mouth. I consider myself a food snob and only appreciate food out that I cannot make better at home. This fine restaurant delivers! Chef Robert is the best around and it is such a treat to eat at his fine French Cafe. You will not be disappointed."

"Well, we were a party of 6 people, a few of whom were vegetarian. While we thought the food was great, we were shocked by the $200 plus bill at the end. We had no idea that was coming our way, really-- tho' perhaps we should have known? I'm sure the lamb, etc. (which we didn't avail ourselves of) was factored into that. We did order some ("gourmet" as it turned out) coffee and one Bloody Mary, but still... we didn't over-fill our plates OR return for seconds.
At any rate; while we're glad to have Cafe Province nearby, we would definitely have preferred a simpler (tho still elegant) brunch at a more reasonable price. Next time I'm guessing we'll choose the Storm, or the Bobcat or someplace nice, but not quite so self-important price-wise."

"All around, this restaurant is just okay. Nothing very good, nothing very bad. We had the Café Provence Seafood Stew and Stuffed Filet of Sole with Scallop and Lobster Mousse over Forbidden Rice. Best thing out of the two plates was the forbidden rice. For upscale dining in the area, it could be better."

"Cafe Provence is always a treat. Fine dining in Brandon, Vt. We had a party of 14 for Easter brunch and the food selection was perfect. I especially enjoyed the lamb, pizza, and desserts. When we had to increase our number two different times, they handled it with no problem. As everyone in our area knows, this is a real GEM."

"We had a lovely meal at Cafe Provence! The staff were so friendly and accommodating. The restaurant has a special gluten-free menu with many delicious choices--some variations on the main menu items, some actually the same. They are also very helpful about any other food issues. My husband is celiac; he was delighted with the choices on their gluten free menu. I am dairy free, and although there isn't a specific dairy free menu, the waitress helped me select a dairy free entree which was prepared with a special sauce just for me! The food is also well prepared and delicious. I highly recommend Cafe Provence whether or not you have a dietary issue. It is well worth a trip to Brandon just for the restaurant."

"We were seated promptly and our waitress explained the specials in a friendly manner. This was our second visit as we live in New Jersey and go to Vermont in the winter to ride our snowmobiles. We stay in Brandon. The food is fantastic, neither time were either of us disappointed in our meals. The place can get loud when it is busy."

"The Cafe Provence never disappoints. While blizzard warnings blasted over the radio, we chanced the drive to Brandon for some delicious French comfort food. What could be more comforting than a big plate of Cassoulet! My dining partner enjoyed sole stuffed with lobster/shrimp mousse with "evil" rice. Having started with goat cheese cakes and two kinds of pate with spinach salad, we had no room for dessert. Every bite was delicious and we were ready to face the storm."
