"I've eaten at Zin Bistro many times; the food is always good but the service (which can be OUTSTANDING) is sometimes a little less than attentive. This visit was a little uninspired from a service perspective, but the outdoor patio dining, at sunset, almost makes up for the inattention. The food, as usual, was excellent. As an Executive that has relocated to the area on a long-term contract, I entertain a lot ... ZB is one of my favorite business lunch/dinner locations. If they can nail the consistent service issues, this place could be one of the highest rated establishments in the area ... it certainly has most everything else going for it."

"Actually on a lake in Westlake- with enough charm to float all boats....it might evoke Europa to some.
Requesting a lakeside table and actually getting it was pleasing considering this was basically a last minute call; arriving to a lively occupied dinner hour and being seated at arguably the best table in the house on a say so in a full house was astounding.
The staff was top notch, attentive and with the right amount of personality to maintain the flow of an excellent dining experience - the various table functions were performed as if they actually cared about you and your meal.
The menu was well stocked with choices and all the ones we made were good enough to eat next day from environmentally cool to go boxes. Nice. Thanks. Yum."

"From the reviews on Open Table we thought we would give this restaurant a try. The food was very good! I had the Halibut over vegetables. I think the Italian sauce was somewhat overpowering for such a light fish and the fish was a little dry but overall it was delicious. My girlfriend had the Lobster bisque, we ended up switching dishes. Our waiter was somewhat clueless. First I asked for bread and it came without olive oil or butter. Then when he brought the change, he must not have considered that I would leave a tip or had an over inflated opinion of his service and thought I would leave a huge tip.

Someone said that the bar scene was for older singles. They are right but they should consider the neighborhood.
we will be back."

"We have been to Zin's several times and have noticed the food is not as good as it used to be. There were four of us and only one had a good meal. He had ordered the pot pie and liked it. The service was just ok...the man who made the salads table side had no personality and wouldn't look us in the eye. Not a good experience and we will not be going back."

"Had a very nice dinner at Zin. Overall, the food was excellent. We had the rack of lamb and the sand dabs. Desserts were also excellent - white chocolate creme brulee and apple tartin. Seemed like a lot of, high end, burgers were served that day, so likely a specialty. Noise level was a bit higher than I remember, just below the level of being bothersome. There was a private party in the section by the water that likely added to the noise level but even inside was fairly noisy. Due to the noise, I wouldn't consider it for a quite romantic dinner but overall we will return."

"Fun hip (for the area) scene with a great view of the lake. We enjoyed the semi-private patio to the side of the main room. I hear that this room is for the smokers during happy hour, but it was a quiet sunny surprise. Food was great. Lobster Pot Pie was unique and yummy - image chunky lobster bisque cooked in a flaky pastry.
Great service. Can't wait to go back during happy hour."

"We had made a reservation for my birthday weeks in advance and had asked to be seated on the patio. When we got there they told us the patio was booked for a party. The only seats they had were either inside or on a side patio that was very small and crowded with a noisy table of people. The hostess said "happy birthday" but not one mention was made after that. Usually they offer a dessert, or some recognition of a special event. We thought all in all this lacked class. And the food choices were not good for a vegetarian."

"Sitting right on the lake with such quaintly beautiful views, I would have recommended this place even if it had mediocre food! To my delight, the food was delicious! I had the Alaskan Halibut with ratatouille and ate every bite. The mustard seed crust was perfectly crunchy, adding a nice salty contrast to the meat of the fish and the tomato-based ratatouille. I will absolutely go back."

"They take care of you the minute you walk in, friendly and professional, allowed us to change tables to move away from the active bar area with no attitude or problem. The young lady that served us was fantastic, keep an eye on us had our drinks very quickly and the rest of the staff very good. Our only problem was we were in the mood for Seafood and ordered Lobster and Scallops and the food was not cooked the Scallops were sent back and only reheated & just ok. The Lobster was so-so too, so this may not be the place for Seafood, the other order was for Chicken and in this case the food was over cooked, we had plans afterwards so we left underwhelmed with the meal....Next time we will stick to the salad and specials..."

"We went here for Valentines day. The restaurant was decorated very nice and there was a live band. And then, they sat us at one of "four" tables "outside". It was cold, the heaters were not adequate, and we were isolated. And everyone from the wait staff to the guy that prepared a Bananas Foster table=side acted as if it was inconvenient for them to have to come outside. I assumed that they were having a difficult time accommodating the crowd, but after we ate, we walked back through the interior of the restaurant, and I was shocked to see a lot of empty tables. Why did they feel compelled to sit us outside?? It's unfortunate, because we were actually impressed by the menu and food, but the experience was so bad we won't return."

"Been here often for work luncheons and couldn't wait to take my date for Valentine's Day since she had never been. We were very impressed with the food and the ambiance--the band and singer were just perfect for a romantic night out. The only downfall: the martinis could have been better; they were reminicant of wells drinks rather than something I would want to find at a upscale restaraunt. But other than that, we truly enjoyed our experience and it made our second day celebrating being engaged more than wonderful."

"Although the food was very good, they were embarrassingly understaffed. It took 25 minutes for someone to take our drink order. I am not kidding. Then we waited even longer because, "the bar is really busy tonight". We asked 3 times to have out heater turned on and we were told, "we only have one bus boy tonight and he is the only one who knows how to light it". We never got our heater lit. Furthermore, we were handed Valentine's Day menus, three days after Valentine's Day. What? Did they not sell enough on the 14th and were still trying to get rid of old food on the 17th? Our waitress was very nice and did her best, but was unexperienced. When the first item on the Valentine's Day menu is Steak and Lobster for $125, you expect much more!"

"This was my first time dining at Zin. Four of us had dinner on a Saturday, and the place was packed. Initially, the service was quite good; however we had a long time lag between salad and entrée. Of the four entrées, all were very good except mine. I had the Halibut, and it was over cooked. Either mine sat under a heat lamp too long or it was cooked to the point of extinction because it was hard an rubbery. The Caesar Salad, prepared at table side, was a nice touch and very good. So I gave them three stars for the three entrées that turned out well. If I rated them on my Halibut alone, they would have received one star."
