Whether it is a business lunch, a pre-theater supper, a celebratory dinner or a private party, forty2West can accommodate your needs. We can help turn ordinary occasions into extraordinary meals, and special occasions into affairs to remember.
Our large bar has it's own menu with plenty of room eat while having cocktails and socializing. A great place to meet before dinner or just catch up after work with friends.
Our private rooms can accomodate small groups of 10 to largers groups of 80 for a seated dinner to groups as large as 150 for a cocktail style event. Private rooms and private bar are located on the mezzanine level of the restaurant with a balcony overlooking the main floor.

"I liked the relaxed feel of this restaurant - lighting was not too bright therefore allowing you to feel as though you're alone in the restaurant despite other customers - gives you a sense of privacy amongst others; can actually enterain a conversation without having to shout. Tried their burrata as an appetizer and they serve a cool new twist on caesar salar ... grilled! Excellent! They had an Ivory Salmon dish on the menu; outstandingly prepared, much more delicate taste than the regular pink salmon.

"Great Food, Service and attention detail. Our waiter and support staff were all knowledgeable of the menu. The Tuna Appetizer & Shrimp Cocktail were a perfect start. The fresh made pastas were outstanding. Everything that we had from dinner to dessert were fantastic. We chose this restaurant based on the reviews from opentable and they were completely accurate on describing this restaurant. Thank you for making it an enjoyable evening before we went to our show. "The service was outstanding. The waitstaff overheard a comment about a birthday in our party, and we were immediately treated like royalty. The evening ended with a complementary dessert, complete with candle and a song. The food was top-notch Italian, and one of the appetizer specials for the evening, the tuna crudo, was the best ever tasted. Attentive staff and excellent food made this a place to return to often, especially given its fantastic location right in the heart of the Rockefeller Center zone in midtown Manhattan."

"forty2west was a perfectly deccent place to have dinner. However, there are just too many better "steak houses" in the city for me to say I would recomend this. Additionally, we went on a Saturday night at 8PM and the place was pretty dead. Service was great, staff was very friendly, just nothing special."

"A friend raved about this new place so I decided to check out it. I went here with my boyfriend last night, and let me just say it was amazing! We got some drinks at the bar first, which was beautiful. For dinner, we started with a meat cheese board which was great and a decent portion. Then shared the ribeye (cooked to perfection) and a pasta with lamb ragu, which was very tasty. What I really thought was great was that there was such a variety of different types of foods plus some twists on classics, like a kale caesar salad. And to top it off, the ambiance was very cool! It was rustic, but modern and trendy at the same time. We loved everything about this place and we will definitely be back!"

Not only was the food above average, but the service, attention to detail by the event planner and the beautiful private space made me a superstar today at the office.

"Was in town for the evening with my fiance and had reservations at forty2West.
I was a customer of AJ Maxwell's and had great experiences there.
It was nice to walk in and be greeted by familiar faces.
Lenny, the owner remembered us which made us so comfortable and at home.
We really liked what they did to the new space, it's more of a trendy look.
What I really liked is the choice of 2 food types. If you're int he mood for a great steak its on the menu but if you're in the mood for italian they have a wide variety as well.

"Forty2west is my new favorite place to go.
I heard about a new Italian resttaurant and the chef came from Mario Batali's place.
Being an Italian, I wanted to check it out.
Food is amazing. Had some homemade pasta with a lamb ragu and still thinking about it this morning.I felt really good being there, the staff made me feel at home, our waiter was very friendly and professional. An overall good vibe. My buddy had a great looking rib eye and the sides were good too. After dinner we went to the bar for some drinks and ended up staying late. The Thursday night group rocked.

"What a pleasant surprise! We made a reservation for a Monday night as I had a meeting with a 3 associates visiting for a conference. We all had steaks on our mind. We were greeted pleasantly and had a few martini's at the bar. After, we sat near the front. We each had the Rib-eye steak - 2 pounds! Cooked perfect. I'm happy they opened near Rockefeller. Will be back to give the Italian entrees a go!"

"Formerly AJ Maxwell's, I enjoyed dinner once the order was correctly delivered. This new spot has only been open a few weeks. The steak was excellent and mushroom soup superb.

"We had a groupon from AJ Maxwell which is now 42 West. While the offering changed somewhat, we were very pleased with our meal. We had the Porterhouse for 2. It was cooked perfectly, seasoned well, and delicious. We were pleased, because our last few times at AJ Maxwell were not very good, but we thought with the groupon it was worth trying again. IT WAS. It was back to "steakhouse quality" and we will return."

"Went to 42 West and was pleasantly surprised. The staff was very friendly, helpful and attentive. Broiled wild Salmon was tasty and fresh. The filet mignon was large and succulent. Side vegetables (wild mushrooms and brussel sprouts) were plentiful, sprouts were 'al dente'. Dessert was special, it was my wife's birthday and all the wait staff gave a hearty rendition of happy birthday. I will plan to return, would recommend it."

"my wife and I wanted to go out for a great steak so we thought we would try this new hot spot called 42 west well the place is all new inside and looks awsome with its long bar and tall ceilings it gives that new york feel the upstair party rooms over look the bar and gives it all a nice feel the food and service was right up to par but i would like to see more side dishs on the menu"
