"The view was lovely. The food was fair, but the child spaghetti was terrible; the noodles were wilted and the meatballs were overcooked and hard. The hostesses were friendly and welcoming and so were the busboys, but our waiter was hardly seen (also, wall paint in booth is stained and old)."

"The service was first rate, the food devine, attention to detail evident. We celebrated our Anniversary and have a delightful memory of our evening. Chef had a dessert delivered to our table as a celebration of our occassion. So, when the price of the food is expensive having expectations fulfilled allows me to make a whole hearted recommended to dine at the Loft."

"This place is unreal! The view alone would make it a great spot, but it is just awesome. We eat out a lot and the food and service makes it the best restaurant at The Montage. A manager named Tiffany took such good care of us, I thought it was our wedding night! Our server, Jeff, was also amazing and really just guided us through a great dining experience.
Try this spot out, I guarantee you won't be disappointed."

"The Loft is difficult to top when looking for a beautiful location to enjoy an al fresco lunch. Upon entering, the service was friendly, attentive and very knowledgeable; and the food, overall, was spot on. My only criticism would be the wrappers used for the hamachi spring rolls were rather thick and doughy, making for considerably more chewiness than one would expect. The entrees were outstanding (really enjoyed the tomato bisque served) and the wine list had nice variety. I will return again."

"My wife's birthday was celebrated with our grown children by a dinner at The Loft. Our family was seated at a round table with a stunning ocean view, though the overcast hid the sunset. We began with a delicious cheese and wine appetizer course with eight cheeses as suggested by the fromagier, plus a red and a white wine. I enjoyed their famous coffee -rubbed New York steak grilled perfectly, preceded by an excellent Ceasar salad. My wife enjoyed the John Dory whitefish, others the ribs, chicken and other entrees. We couldn't pass up the tempting desserts. The service was very attentive and gracious, including a special birthday dessert for my wife. The evening was a memorable 3-hour dinner celebration we will talk about for a long time."

"We had on odd group for finding a restaurant in Laguna Beach. As a party of four, our oldest was in his 70s and our youngest was 20 months. The restaurant was a great fit for all of us. They had a children's menu with some good simple dishes to compliment their standard menu, which was full of world class fare. The menu was especially good because the base dishes included a lot of common foods (sea bass, short rib, etc.), but it was prepared in ways that made it more tasty than a typical place."

"Everything was fabulous. Beautiful day, sitting outside on the porch (umbrellas shield you from the sun), incredible food, great service, glass of pinot noir . .. . I've dined here twice - breakfast and lunch - both times the food was amazing. I use the Montage for business meetings during the day b/w San Diego and LA. PERFECT! It is expensive but . . . .not THAT much more than other places and the view is amazing. Valet is over priced ($11 with validation) and internet should be free ($10 for 6 hours). THey ought to lower valet to $5 and provide an hour or two of free internet."

"We hadn't been to The Loft in a very long time, and we were quite disappointed. The menu, originally adventurous, is now so ho-hum that we had trouble finding something we wanted to eat. More like a coffee-shop menu! A few years ago, they had a cheese expert on staff, and amazing cheese plates. Now, the portions have shrunk, the cheeses are nothing special... and neither is anything else the 4 of us had.
Service was decent, but not what we'd have expected - it was alternately intrusive and laissez-faire. Only the view, and the chance to walk the grounds after lunch, made The Loft a worthwhile choice."

"The food and ambiance were nice, but I had asked for inside seating with a view on the reservation and we were seated outside in the direct sun. When we asked to get an umbrella, the server looked directly at the umbrella on another table and said "we don't really have an umbrella". So the experience was not the best, and the service was not great."

"Made reservations not realizing how amazing the ambiance was. The food was equally great. I ordered the chicken breast entree at the Loft for dinner and it was perfectly moist and tender. I would recommend the pork entree as well. Overall, it was a fun place to enjoy and a high quality meal with superior service. Highly recommend!"

"We come here because of the excellent charcuterie and cheese selection of over 100 cheeses. We have never been disappointed! By the time we got to our entrees we couldn't even finish them because the bread and cheese and meat board was so good. Mental note to just stick to that next time. "I took my daughter there for her birthday and both of us throughly enjoyed the experience. My salmon was perfect, moist and cooked to perfection. My daughter loved her fried chicken, but this was no ordinary fried chicken. The sauce was unusual. The breads, especially the gluten-free cheese rounds were awesome. We were told it was a Brazilian recipe. The chocolate torte served to my daughter with a candle (from The Loft) was rich, dark and scrumptious. Sitting outside on the balcony looking out at the ocean on a warm, beautiful, sunny day added even more. Service was excellent, and the server a really special person. He gave good us good suggtestions. The wine (Chardonnay) was dry, just as we like it. You can be sure we will return."
