"Food was great however took a little long to come out.
Servicer was nice but forgot to bring out the bread, salad, the sides, and tea.
We ended up cancelling the sides since the food took forever for it to come out. We didn't want to wait another 30 to 45mins just for the sides."

"Had a lovely meal, sharing side dishes, an appetizer, and some soup with a friend. All was very well prepared -- the mussels in particular were tender and free of grit-- lovely! Service seemed a little slow at first -- maybe because they were changing shifts. Best of all, we had to meet at 4 pm and Devon was already serving dinner -- which was great. I will be back. My ambience rating is there because it was required. We were eating so early that there was hardly anyone else there, so both ambience and noise level were difficult to judge."

"Went on Mother's Day, which is a busy day. Appetizers were good. Mussels were not tasty enough.
Two of us had Halibut - it was OK, but a little dry.
My son ordered swordfish - it was very dry. He sent it back. It took so long to come back, that I had already finished. The new piece was better, but still not as juicy as it should be. They brought a piece of swordfish, with no side items - bad move.
To compensate us, they gave free desserts - nice touch, but i would have preferred to not pay for the swordfish.

"Went for Mother's Day Brunch, reservation was for 11:15 and we were seated right away.
Had a delicious bloody Mary and Eggs Benedict with smoked Salmon, portion was perfect and everyone else enjoyed their food too.

"My family and I took my mom here for Mother's Day brunch after we participated in the Komen Mother's Day Race for the Cure at the Art Museum. The service was quick and very friendly, the food was absolutely delicious, and it was comfortable yet still gave the feel to my mom that we were spoiling her a bit. This is my second time here, first time for brunch, and I would definitely make a return trip! We may be making Devon a Mother's Day tradition in my family :)"

"We went for Mother's Day brunch. Had a sampling of oysters which were delicious. Had the salad with fresh grilled salmon. Asked for it med-rare, it arrived well done. It had already taken long enough, so I didn't send it back. Daughter got tuna tartare and loved it and my wife got and enjoyed the swordfish - which was important! We then ordered one slice of carrot cake to split. After a long wait, our waiter came back to tell us they were out of carrot cake and it would be ten minutes before they would have any more. So we decided to pass and asked for our bill - which took more than 10 minutes to get, ironically enough. Been here before and will go back, but was disappointed with this visit."

"I was by myself on a business trip. The good news is that I got in quickly even though it was a busy night. But I ordered a simple Mahi Mahi, preceded by a salad. Sat and watched the table next to me order dinner after me; I got my dinner after they finished eating their dinner. And the fish was not hot, meaning I believe that it sat out waiting for my waiter to pick it up and deliver it to the table. They really need runners to keep the food moving out; waiters get distracted, and I paid the price."

"My wife and daughter had dinner overlooking Rittenhouse Square. It was a beautiful evening and the meal was outstanding. My daughter and I got the tuna (Medium Rare), and my wife got the mixed seafood grill. All were amazing. The tuna may have been the best I have ever had, and I eat it often! I would highly recommend the Devon Seafood Grill."

"This was the worst service I've had Devon. I have a 7 o'clock reservation. We finally were seated at 7:30. We waited for everything. Food took too long. Drinks took too long. Not a good experience at all. And then the waitress took time to loiter at other tables just chatting. Not a good time."

"Although quiet table was requested, we were seated next to a group of 20 who arrived relatively soon. The spotty service that we initially received then deteriorated to almost no service. Server polite but clueless-asked starters were to be served w/entrees or first. Gumbo served at a tepid temperature. Water refills & biscuits had to be requested. Both entrees (Crabcakes & Grilled Shrimp) also were not served hot. After being missing in action for some time, the server checked back w/us & when we conveyed that the entrees were not served hot, she responded that she could have brought us hotsauce had she known we wanted spicy food. Skipped dessert, coffee & after dinner drinks & then had to request check twice before server responded."

"Devon is like an upscale Steak House, but with fresh daily seafood instead. The sides are steak-house quality...the appetizers are tantalizing & intriguing. The warm biscuits are a melt-in-your-mouth welcome to dinner, but I wanted them offered more than once.

"Been to Devon many times over the years. The service was not up to par.. My friend was still eating his salad when our main course arrived.They took away our bread plates in the beginning of the meal. When we asked for another biscuit, they had to start all over with new plates, etc.I got the impression that they were annoyed. I remember in the past when they would walk around and ask if we wanted another. Is this a cost cutting tactic?
It was rather loud so we decided to have coffee elsewhere. I will come back but was rather disappointed with the service. We had to track someone down to get a water refill. Hope this dinner was an exception because Devon has always been one of my favorites and have recommended to many people in the past."

"The seating area in the restaurant is very crowded. The area has vaulted ceilings that are tiled, reminiscent of an old train station. Although attractive, it has the property of reflecting and seemingly amplifying sound. Many times in the evening, you had to repeat what you were saying just across the table. Our server and the food salvaged the night, both were great. If you like loud and crowded restaurants that have good food, you'll be fine here. I prefer good food and conversation in a relaxed setting, and there are so many better options for that in Philadelphia."

"While I have visited Devons many times and it is on my list of top 10 restaurants; the staff and the waiter was not very attentive, didn't pay attention to detail and did not have any personality on this visit. The food was medium in temperature and not of the normally high quality. I was especially disappointed because it was my birthday and I was introducing my family to the restaurant for the first time. We had a party of 7 which is not overwhelming but guaranteed to have gratuity included in the check. My birthday dinner was not a wish come true!"

"I have eaten here before probably 2 dozen times for lunch and dinner, but not in the last 6-8 months, and the place has taken a real nose dive. This was supposed to be a special dinner with my retired boss/ mentor and his wife who wanted a good seafood meal. The chronology tells the tale: 5:30: arrive. 9:45: check arrives; I leave the smallest tip I have ever left. In between, we were ignored by our waitress, had to ask 6x for butter knives; had individual courses for the 3 of us arrive 20 minutes apart; twiddled our thumbs a great deal; time between courses up to an hour; food cold. The place was not busy; there were staff everywhere. No one apologized, offered an explanation. In short no one cared. I would never eat here again."

"My wife and I came to the Devon Seafood Grill for our anniversary. We had a fantastic time, the food was outstanding. For our appetizer we had the shrimp cocktail and the Pemaquid muscles, both were excellent. For the main course my wife had the seafood mixed grill and I had the NY Strip and lobster mac and cheese, she said the crab cakes were the best she has ever had and my strip was cooked perfectly rare and was incredible. Our server Carol could not have been better, attentive, engaging and who we will be asking for again on our next visit."

"The restaurant was very annoying children ages appx 1 to 3 very loud screaning and banging of table server & manager were informed only response from manager "they are leaving soon" noise continued for another 20 minutes until they left."

"Never have we had better service and food. We took family there for the first time, all are from New York and are used to New York restaurants, and all were delighted with Devon Sea Food Grill. The one drawback is the noise level, which is due to the architecture, but the high arched ceilings and brickwork are so interesting that we didn't mind the noise."

"Poorly trained staff across the board.
An order of Mahi Mahi was served almost raw. This was brought to the attention of the waitstaff who agreed and removed the plate to return to the kitchen. In the meantime my companion's meal remained on the table. I suggested they proceed with their meal while I waited. After approximately 5 minutes my meal was returned on the same plate with the side vegetables now warm. In general the meal was less than satisfactory. The waitstaff made no attempt to properly correct the kitchen's error. This lis evidence the entire staff are not properly trained nor supervised which leads me to not recommend this establishment as consistency of service and quality of food is what generates return customers."

"Eight of us dined here last Sunday for brunch. Our experience was that our server was disinterested in ensuring that our experience was one that would encourage us to return (perhaps auto gratuity?). We constantly had to flag down wait-staff for ordering and food came out when it was ready so people were dining at various times. Skip this for brunch!"

"We have dined here many times and have always loved everything. Was it just an "off" night, as our dinner this time was quite disappointing? The menu offerings seems to have decreased. Our server was just not into serving us. We split a Caesar salad and what used to be a fairly nice salad to share was very small. We ordered a 2 pound lobster, also to share, and the presentation left a lot to be desired. They didn't split it, like they used to. It was brought out on one plate with fries going soggy from the liquid from the lobster. There was only one cracker and one pick fork and they never brought finger bowls, which was always a nice touch. No extra napkins and not even a plate for the shells! We had to put them on the tablecloth!"
