Capture a magical moment of Niagara-on-the-Lake’s past as you dine in one of its most historic buildings. The four-diamond Cannery Restaurant of today is reminiscent of its former life as a canning factory in the 1800s, where Niagara peaches and tomatoes were canned until 1957. Its agricultural past has been lovingly retained in its décor of rough hewn wooden beams, rich red brick walls and a hearth at the heart of the restaurant. Chef Mark Longster continues to serve up the best of the region in his menus which feature the freshest local produce and fine wines. Charming and casual Cannery Restaurant is the place to find all your favorites, from succulent steaks to catch of the day to a fabulous Sunday brunch. Chef Longster's food is prepared and presented perfectly, for your ultimate dining experience.
"The food was better then average for sure and especially the seafood platter. The service was just okay with nothing bad during our dinner service but definitely nothing extraordinary either. We always enjoy our red wine in large wine glasses and it felt odd drining from tiny wine glasses."

"We dined at the Cannery for sunday brunch. Our server, Patti, was incredible and went out of her way to have an omlette made in the kitchen for me when the omelette station didnt have fresh tomatoes on hand, for whatever reason. That being said, we had great service but I don't think the selection of food (especially for a vegetarian) was worth the price of brunch. Atmosphere and ambience were good and I would definitely try the Cannery again for an a la carte lunch or breakfast."

"We came here with our 15 month old daughter. The staff was extremely accommodating and attentive towards her and the food was amazing. I'd love to come back for a romantic evening."

"Went to the Cannery for Mother's Day 2013. Everything was quite outstanding. The service was wonderful--we liked the team approach where we had our own server, but everyone on staff was there to help. We even enjoyed the cameraderie between the two young men at the 'egg servery', so polite to one another as they crossed back and forth to grab ingredients for fresh omelettes. I would only suggest that the Eggs Benedict not be so dry! Everything was wonderful, thanks so much! We will be back."

"We recently stayed at the Pillar & Post hotel and had dinner and breakfast the next morning at the on-sight Cannery restaurant. The dinner was wonderful, with excellent food and service. Our waitress gave us good suggestions and was very knowledgable and friendly. When we went back to the Cannery for breakfast the next morning it was like we were in a different restaurant. Our waitress, Jan, seemed irritated - we had to ask for milk and sweetner and when none showed up I went to speak to a bus boy who was cleaning a table near by and who was very pleasant and brought me these items. We also had no cutlery and had to ask for this as well. Our coffeepot got cold and by the time she asked if we wanted fresh coffee we were ready to go."

"Lovely setting in the Pillar & Post Inn at NOTL. Take some time to wander around the public areas of this historic inn. Our server was most attentive and knowledgeable regarding the menu choices & wine list. The seafood sampler appetizer will not disappoint. Steaks and lamb entrees generally surpassed expectations. The creme brulee is a classic pleaser. For a special treat, do try the Factory 13 martini. Our guests were very impressed at my choice of venues."

"The food was amazing and well prepared. The services was fantastic. Our waitress was polite and offered enough information about each entree to entice each of us to order a different one. She was attentive but allowed us to have our space with minimal interruptions. Great atmosphere! If you are price conscious this may not be for you, however, it was worth every penny spent."

"Had a really good dinner here on Good Friday. The ambiance is warm and friendly. The service was great and they somehow knew we were staying at the Prince of Wales even though I had booked the two locations separately!
The food was delicious! Each part of the Seafood Appetizer had it's own flavours and textures. The Prime Rib was delicious as well.
Definitely will recommend this to anyone going to Niagara-on-the-Lake"

"We went to The Cannery during the Winter D'Lish Special. The experience for us (and others around us) was a "comedy of errors". The food was good, the service was TERRIBLE. The people next to us had their main course brought out before they received their appetizers! We finished our appetizers and main course and waited 40 minutes for anyone to approach us about dessert (which was included). The bus boy finally took our dessert order and came back three times to tell us what we wanted was not available. The waiter never made eye contact with us until we finally flagged him down for the bill. We had trouble paying the bill because no one could figure out the interac machine. An overall disappointing experience!!"
