Joe's of Westlake is a landmark restaurant started in 1956 by Bruno Scatena and is still family owned and operated. We provide the best in classic Italian-American cuisine in a comfortable environment. Enjoy a reasonably priced cocktail poured by our experienced bartenders while taking in the sounds of live music in our lounge. "The first thing I noticed was the Ladies room door was sticky, when I sat down at our table they was food and junk on the carpet under the table and the arms on my chair were sticky. I think they need to do a major cleaning to everything their customers touch including the menus. The food was ok and so was the service but I wanted to leave before i even ordered. The last time I went there was about 15 years ago and I will probably never go there again."

"The food is great, substantial, and at a very good price. Bar is inexpensive and friendly. Make reservations... it is ALWAYS full of guests. "was called into cascade room, had to stand there for more than 5 minutes, till we got seated, we stood right nex to our tabel. Why were we not seated right away? There was 8 of us for my grandson birthday. I have been going to your restraurant for over 10 years. Love your food."

"Waiters/bus boys appeared to be not too friendly. Our waiter was not very attentive and hardly around. He also, had a very heavy accent; hard time understanding him. When I ordered the lamb chops, he asked if I know the difference of butterfly or the other way prepared. Never ever talk down to customers. Took him over 1/2 hour to get our bill to us. We ask and he continued to take and delivered orders. Lucky for him, we still gave him a tip. He was really fast to get our bill after we added the tip!"

"Been coming here for years. I do really like the food and the vibe of the place, but this time we had a waiter who seemed to write us off. We waited a long time to get our order taken, he started to take the order, then decided we needed a "minute" (we didn't) and then came back about 15 minutes later. "My first time at any of the Joe's restaurants. Classic old fashioned real restaurant with booths, waiters in real waiter suits (all men, though? maybe not into waitstaff diversity? I'm not sure). But four of us had a wonderful dinner, gargantuan portions. A very popular place, crowds out the door. Reservations highly recommended, and easy to do online. I like the unpretentious, non hipster aspect, just real people,not poseurs. Weird 50's decor, I think it's original, not retro. We nabbed a table at the bar for about 20 minutes while waiting for dinner seating, and had choice of two sports tv's up on the wall, with a live small jazz combo played nice music. Pricey, but huge portions, so we all took about half home. Would definitely go back."

"Joe's of Westlake is our comfort place -- the real Old School that the kids talk about nowadays. Live jazz evenings in the classic bar, sometimes a fireplace lit on chilly evenings. Good for a crowd, for odd times, just for two. When we are wrung out, it's restorative. Ample plates can be split or bagged. Classic American Italian done well. Why seek out retro when Joe's is still doing it right?"

"For the price, the food was average, if not just a touch below. I ordered the T-bone steak, which came with ravioli. I ordered it medium-rare, but i received it as medium well. Usually, i would let it slide, but for the $25 i was paying, I wanted it done right! They gave me a new one, but it was rare. I was fine with this, but I was a surprised that they still didnt get it right. But like i said, i was happy with it. The steak was okay, at best. Moderate portion, but i felt it lacked seasoning. Joes of Westlake is not a place i;d recommend going for steak, because there are far better place out there. But i guess its a decent place for large parties, and such, just be ready to spend a lot of cash."

"In the past Joes was a popular restaurant w. great food but THOSE DAYS ARE GONE! The restaurant badly needs a restoration. It was old, dingy. It did not look particularly clean. Most members of my group of 9 ordered Joes. Special for which they were well known. All but one complained that it was dry and tasteless. I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich. It was tasteless and rubbery. I could not eat it. When the waiter saw a basically full plate and I said the sandwich was not good, he simply took it away..no appology or offer of another dish. Yuk"

"I ordered the chicken parmagiana with spaghetti. The portion was huge, although the meat sauce from the spaghetti was oily. Everything still tasted very good. For the chicken parmagiania, I wish we didn't have to choose between a pasta and vegetables. Most other restaurants (if not all that I've been to) give you both.
My husband ordered the hamburger. Portion was also huge, but there were no vegetables (the typical lettuce, tomato, pickle) with the burger either.
Service was good. Water kept being refilled, and it was easy to flag down our waiter if we needed something."

"What happened to Joe's? Not very good at all. Please take the Fried Prawns off the menu. It used to be a great dish. Now it's small prawns (or large shrimp) that are way over cooked with too much batter. Veal Scaloppini pretty tastless. Made a reservation and still waited 20 min."

"We went for a birthday celebration, had to ask for another location after we were seated at a very small table for our party. Our waiter could have been more attentive, he took our order and then disappeared until he returned with the check (we were in the back of the restaurant). Other staff were very nice and attentive to our guest of honor. Joe's is a neighborhood staple and has consistently good food."

"This is an old-school restaurant with decor harking back to the 50s and 60s that serves basic American and Italian food. It includes a diner-like section, a bar, and a more formal dining room. Service is efficient and friendly. I have occasionally eaten here over a 50-year period, and I doubt that the menu or food preparation has changed much. The food is okay, somewhat generic, reasonably-priced, and served in huge quantities. The restaurant appears to be popular with old folks who are looking for a decent meal in a "nice restaurant" that is not too expensive and not too adventurous in its cuisine. A trip back in time, but if you are hungry and want a solid, familiar meal, you could do a lot worse."

"it was a busy Saturday night and we were entertaining some friends from out of town, made reservations at a restaurant we all used to frequent as kids. unfortunately, we were seated at a less than ideal table, one of our guests had a drink spilled on him, and we were ignored for about 20 minutes after we were seated, and not until i said something to the hostess did one of the rudest waiters come up, and without apology say to us "what do you want?" 20-30 minutes after our order was placed our waiter came back to tell us that they were out of the meal that 2 of the guests had ordered. he did not bring a menu, offer an apology, but rather kept barking, "what do you want instead?" thank goodness the company was good, because the service.."
