Casa Nonna's rustic Italian menu is a culmination of traditional Roman and Tuscan fare, with a focus on the freshest local and seasonal ingredients. Casa Nonna is warm and welcoming, authentic and thoroughly satisfying, with bold, pure flavors that are the hallmark of true Italian cuisine.
"The free bread/pizzettas we were served upon seating were fantastic, so we had high hopes. However, the pizzas themselves weren't as tasty and came cold. Paninis were downright disappointing. The staff was charming and it's a great space. We went for lunch - perhaps dinner is better. Too bad, that area needs more good food options & its convenience to Penn Station and Port Authority makes it great for meeting out-of-towners taking mass transit into the city."

"not a great Ambience and for a restaurant which prepares quite good Italian food it was embarrassing when the waiter did not understand when we ordered Bruschetta and pronounced it correctly."

"Casa Nonna was a quick walk from our hotel and the vibrant bar scene made me feel I had chosen well. Staff is attentive but not too. I ordered the Lamb with spring vegetables and my fiance ordered the chicken parm. My lamb was beautifully arranged on the plate and the spring vegetables included, spring onions, a pea puree, and kale. It was simple, elegant and delicious. THe Chicken parm was not your ordinary cutlet covered in sauce and cheese but it was elegantly prepared with what appeared to be a panko breading , topped with a light sauce, thin cheese and a beautifully prepared shredded pasta salad. We also ordered a side dish of spinach full of flavor. This was a great meal in a neighborhood that is mostly pubs, pizza and fast food."

"The food was great however the service was just weird. I ordered off the gluten free menu and my server came back to tell me my selection wasn't gluten free. I asked why it was on the gluten free menu then, he went to check and didn't return. Obviously the gluten free choice was made differently than the version on the main menu. When someone else brought my selection it was excellent. My friend ordered a side with her dinner and they forgot. We had two different servers and the coffee is made by the cup. So no warm ups. Plus the creamer was skim milk. I did not ask for skim.....is that standard?"

"I placed a note in Open Table that I was celebrating a birthday with the other person I was with and described him so they would know who he was. I asked if they could do anything like bring a dessert, slice of cake, etc. and I would even pay for it. This was never acknowledged. When we ordered wine, it was horrible and the waitress refused to allow us to try another wine instead offering only to decant the awful tasting wine. Then, my entree was horrible and she said "here's some pepper" refusing to offer any compensation or to switch my entree. Service was also slow. Very disappointing. So much for a special night out to celebrate the birthday."

"What a find and not far from the Garden! The atmosphere was lovely, the service, friendly, attentive and warm. The food was wonderful. Christopher, our server and the person helping him, (sorry I do not remember his name), were great and their menu suggestions, based on our likes, were spot-on. The rooms was spacious and never felt crowded or too loud. I would hapily return to this great restaurant and have already told others about it."

"We ha a lunch reservation on a very rainy day. The restaurant was a pleasant surprise in a neighborhood where the choices are otherwise uninspiring. Spacious and with an old-style night ambiance, I am sure that in the evening the ambiance is vibrant, but it was perfect for a business lunch. The menu is inviting ranging from elegant salads and pizzas to more traditional entrees. Everything is well-prepared and flavored with good ingredients. The cornish hen was the perfect comfort food to ward off the rainy chill of the day."

"This is the newest restaurant in the BLT empire and like the others, the food is excellent. Unfortunately, on the night we were there, although the restaurant was nearly empty, the service was terrible. The captain at one point apologized with the excuse that "they made me do something else" but it was unclear what that could have been as few other tables were occupied. It was really a shame that our experience of terrific food was dampened by this issue."

"Pizza is very delicious. Thin crust and full of flavour. The calamari with fried vegetables was very tasty! A little pricey, we had 2 pizzas, they wher about 8inches each, Fried calamari and a caprese salad, which the tomatoes were mushy....worst caprese salad I've ever had...do not order....our bill was $120....that's expensive....the service was friendly, attentive and quick. I would recommend for lunch to try the pizza for sure!"

"I am surprised this place isn't a little bit more crowded on a Saturday night. Have been here twice, the last time the night before a holiday. We would all return just for the bread stuffed with cheese and sprinkled with a sinfully spicy mixture. That and a salad and I would be happy. Presentation, taste, quality, all tops here, and there is a wonderful party room as well. And don't forget the gelati-SO good, so thick you can chew it!"

"I think the food is fantastic and different. Definitely try the two different bruschettas. . Great non-tourist restaurant in a tourist heavy area which is rare in NYC. The only thing I would say about the menu is they need to add a few more basics to the menu for teens. My older teenagers were struggling to find an appetizer and entre that were not too exotic for them. Food portions are right sized, plenty, but not so much that everyone is taking home leftovers. I had a mussles, clams, shrimp & crab over linguine in a red sauce that was heavenly. My teens enjoyed their chicken parm. They bring this cheese stuffed flatbread which is a nice change from Italian bread, it is more of a $$$ rating than the $$ opentable has"

"I have worked in the area for many years and it was always a major challenge to find a good restaurant. Casa Nonna has changed all that. The entrees are very good, but I enjoy the appetizers and the free cheese-stuffed flat bread the most. Despite it's size, the restaurant is surprisingly more quiet than most because the tables are not on top of each other. Casa Nonna is an excellent choice when friends are commuting through Penn Station as it is an easy walk. I keep going back and I have never been disappointed. Marie"

"Great Restarant in the Garment Center - wonderful food, nice bar. Service can be dicey -I have had great service and mediocre service. I was really annoyed that my waiter during my last visit kept calling the women at our table "girls.""

"The food itself was excellent, save some rather tough and underseasoned lamb chops. Service was slow and we were lied to a couple times when our server said our entrees were coming right out. We were seated at 7PM and told her we had theater tickets for an 8PM show, and she promised to adjust the pacing accordingly. But at 7:45 we still hadn't been served entrees, and at 7:55 the desert that came with the special we ordered came. The server and the manager were indifferent. Needless to say, we missed the opening of the play."

"Big,open modern space. Convenient to Garden and Theater district. The menu was interesting and offered several unique preparations. Everything we ordered arrived warm and was perfectly presented. To the taste, the experience was even better. Would recommend the beet salad, the pici with rague-excellent- and the sea bream , to mention just a few. Even the the side of brocoli rabe was tender and tasty. The only negative was the wine I chose was a 2007 Grassi Valpolicella . The waiter brought the 2008 and didn't seem to be aware of the error. When asked, he left to visit the sommelier, whom I never saw, who told him that they only had the 08. While also a fine wine, the 07 is higher rated and a price allowance should have offered but was not"
