The building in which the Melrose Grill resides was established in 1901 and has served as a tavern since the days of the horse and buggy. It also operated as a pool hall, soda shop and card room during Prohibition. Recently restored, Melrose Grill kept its historic roots with the original mirror-backed bar with its rich, dark woods. The walls showcase vintage photos that highlight the transitions this grand building has gone through. With wainscoting on the walls, low-slung lamps and high ceilings the space feels as open as the West was when it was built. The Food and Service at Melrose Grill will amaze and delight your senses. "I was in Seattle on business, and was told I should try it.
Our party of 4 arrived 15 minutes early and were accomodated without fuss.
Service and food were great
My Ribeye was cooked perfectly, and was delicious.
My meal and service ranked up there with the finer restaurants.
The room was energetic, and a little noisy becuase it was full, but I didn't mind.
It's a small upscale "fine diner" that I will return to on my next trip to Seattle!"

"Although our reservation was shortly after opening, we were given a small table in the middle of the traffic aisle. No mention was made of our anniversary even though it was noted on the reservation. Our waitress was pleasant and attentive, although spread too thin. The restaurant was filling quickly and it seemed more attention was being paid to seating those waiting that waiting on those already seated. It took an exceptionally long time for our entrees to arrive, and my medium-rare steak was closer to medium-well. I didn't mention it, because I didn't want to have to wait again for my meal. Although not done to my satisfaction, the steak was very good, as was my wife's salmon. We came away far less impressed than an earlier visit."

"We live in Renton & discovered the Melrose about 5 years ago. I have been to every steak restaurant in Seattle, Belevue etc & not one can beat the Melrose Grill for steak. They have the best cuts & it's always cooked to perfection! They also have a amazing wine list & great service!"

"Our experience was terrific. Our table was waiting when we arrived even though the restaurant was packed. The service was delightful and our waitress was so accommodating. "Thanks to Open Table we found this place. There were 6 of us for Mothers Day eve dinner. We reserved at 5pm. That and 5:30 is only option and after that is wait list only. We got there and line 1/2 block long already! We got in and because we had reserved we were seated right away. Oh the glares from those who didn't reserve. The drinks, food, friendly staff and all spot on. Goodbye Daniels, El Gaucho, etc. We will be coming here from now on ."

"If Steak is supposed to be the game at Melrose, I am confused. My friend and I split a porterhouse that was overcooked, under flavored, and just plain dull. I suspect the quality of the beef - grainy and chewy. Maybe this is someone's idea of grass fed and natural - if I were eating on the prairie I would have a different attitude."

"A nice surprise... From out of town, only found it because it was close by. Great classic steakhouse atmosphere, great local beers on tap and wine list. Food was quite good and when steak needed a bit more cooking for one diner, service was quick and responsive. A good find! The steak was pretty good, the pork medallions in a mushroom peppercorn cream sauce were amazing. (Dont miss the Parmesan crusted potatoes as your side option.)"

"We had heard that the Melrose Grill had outstanding steak dinners, so we went their for my husband's birthday dinner. He had the ribeye steak and I ordered the tiger prawns. We shared our two dinners, and the steak was outstanding--so tender and juicy and huge!! The prawns were good, and were a nice complement to the steak. The salad was very fresh and a hearty portion, and the whole wheat sourdough rolls were wonderful too. We felt the prices were reasonable for the portion sizes served. We will definitely go back to the Melrose Grill again!!"

"It was our first visit to the Melrose Grill. We grabbed a 5:15 reservation otherwise it was 9:30. Locals know to get there early. Portions were huge. Quality was great matching Jax's and other great steak houses. Value was good as a salad, vegetables and potoates were included. The side of Mushrooms to go with the Lamb and Filet were the best we've ever had. Filet was very tender and the Lamb had 9 ribs and both were excellent. We brought a wine to cork and they charged $20 and decanted it. However we brought a wine that they had a different varital and vintage so they charged $20 instead of $15. Most restaurants ask that the wine is not on the list and not the winery to allow corkage. We look forward to returning."

"Classic steakhouse food cooked to perfection. Took my MIL who is very fussy, she could not stop talking about the best steak she has tasted in a long time! The staff was more than accommodating when we called to say we would be a little late because of traffic even though they were very busy. The service was excellent, although it took a little long to actually get our food. The recommended wine was also excellent. If you have not been to this restaurant I would definitely make the effort to get here. We will be back often."

"This was out first trip to Melrose Grill and we'll definitely be back. Everyone of us tried something different and were all stealing tastes of everyone else's plates - and it was all truly amazing. Steaks were done as requested, were tender and very flavorful. The beef stroganoff truly was "better than grandma's". The pork loin was tender and flavorful. And the jumbo prawns and steak brochettes were the best of both worlds."

"The Melrose Grill is great for a very well prepared meal (steak, chicken, fish or pork) in a neighborhood setting. The service is top notch! I am definitely a regular customer and will continue to be. Be sure to get here early as the wait list can be long."

"Arrived a little early and wondered if seating would be available. It was on time and perfect for all of us. The food was plentiful and inviting and tasted wonderfully delicious. Had been told by friends to check out and went out of our way to do so. Live in Lakewood. Recommend highly."

"Melrose Grill in Renton is awesome. Great food (try the beef-alo) as well as a great ambiance. The wait staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Just be sure to make a reservation during peak times as this place fills up fast!"

"Amazing service, food, price for what you receive, and overall evening out! The lobster was the freshest and most flavorful I've ever had, the steaks were cooked and seasoned to perfection, it was all excellent. Our waitress didn't miss a beat, spectacular service!"
