"I returned to Hawaii after four years and one of the stand outs from my last trip was The Pineapple Room. Glad to know its still going on and it can be relied on for quality food, interesting presentations and reasonable pricing. Love this place. The signature Kalua Pig BLT is fabulous as is the Halo Halo dessert!"

"I've been to The Pineapple Room many times before and had pleasant experiences, but this last visit was a bust.
The first batch of bread delivered to our table was hard and stale; our entrees were brought out only a minute after our soups; they were out of the aioli dip we requested (the waiter said it was "the first time" he'd seen that happen); and the frittata was so underwhelming my dining partner left 75% of hers on her plate.
Two of us shared the Fish Sandwich and only got half a pickle on each plate with the split. Really? Seems cheap, considering the cost. Four of us dropped $90 between us on a mediocre lunch. I recommended going there so I felt a bit guilty that our experience was less than stellar."

"This is Alan Wong's smart, tasty, spruced up version of local food and it's very good, not great like his famous restaurant (which I haven't eaten at for a few years), but well conceived and well executed. I had two things -- the stir fried soy beans in chili, garlic and sesame oil which was delicious and had nicely charred pods -- and the day's special, two sliders, one a "traditional" hamburger accompanied by fries (very good) and a newfangled one made of pork and shrimp with a bit of Chinese sausage on top and taro chip on the side -- it was better and more original. I can imagine eating this food over and over."

"The Plantation Ice Tea is a must and the Pineapple Room Burger is always my favorite thing. The tomato and watermelon salad is refreshing and delicious. It is not clear to me if they are understaffed or there is turnover but the service has been declining over the years and yet I go back because the food is soo good."

"We brought our 10 month old and the restaurant is very kid friendly. The tables are spaced out enough so you have room for a stroller as well. The service was very good. The only thing was that to us, the food seemed a bit salty. Not just 1 dish but all 3 of our parties dishes were like that. Still, I'd be willing to give it another try. Their ice tea was very good, but definitely overpriced."

"The online reservation option is great! It was fast and easy. I got a call the next day to confirm my reservation. It was for a birthday so it was nice that the restaurant gave a special signed menu and a Happy Birthday dessert. Such a nice touch. The lunch was perfect for our group of 4. We all enjoyed the food, as always. Everyone at the restaurant is friendly. Great service! Wonderful atmosphere! Thank you very much!!!"

"I enjoy the food at Pineapple Room. Plus, there's usually plenty of parking because it's located in Macy's @ Ala Moana shopping center. I like that even though the food is good quality I feel fine bringing my 2-year-old son with me. The service was a little slow, but the staff was very friendly and one server was new."

"I guess its my fault for not inquiring more about this location. I was under the impression that a fine dining restaurant would have a better atmosphere. The menu i wanted was not the same as Mo'ili'ili location. Attire mentions "Smart Casual" but lots of diners were in regular street clothes which is not a problem but we felt very overdressed. The food was good but because it was a birthday for my girlfriend it wasnt the ambiance i was looking for. This location is great for shoppers getting a bite to eat. I do like this service of reserving a table online, it is great!"

"I'd go again. Food was fine, good selection, decent prices. Service was erratic, i.e., the server was great but the busboy (?) wasn't yet well-trained. If you don't mind passing through Macy's and looking out over a parking lot, it's a great place for dinner. And not crowded, so reservations, at least on a Tuesday, are easy to get."

"The food and service was great as usual. I hope they don't change their menu selections. I believe their menu is what brings repeat customers back to the restaurant. They expect to see their same favorites upon their return. I know we do.
I would recommend they change their dinner menu. Their selections are not as good as their lunch menu."

"While the food was good, the ambiance of the restaurant did not match the prices of the entrees. If an entree item costs an average of $30+ why are there no table coverings. It feels like we were dining in an upscale coffee shop. Will go to the real Alan Wong's next time."

"This was our first visit to the Pineapple Room, this is a casual restaurant inside Macy's in the Ala Moana Mall. The selection was small but all very good, some of our party had the three course tasting menu, I had the chicken and seafood, both were very good. We also had dinner at Alan Wong's Restaurant on King Street and although the flag-ship was more sophisticated, the Pineapple Room stood up to the same quality in terms of food and the ambiance was less crowded. This restaurant is definitely worth a visit while in Honolulu."

"With entrees in the $30 range I would expect a bit more ambiance, decor, maybe placemats, candles, flowers, something?

"The food was overpriced for what we received. My dinner was sent back twice due to wrong preparation and was finally comped because everyone else had finished eating and I didn't want to wait for it the third time. Our waiter was terrific and very apologetic for the mishaps."

"First time the the pineapple room, read many reviews and pretty much spot on! Service was great, I forgot our servers name but he was friendly, knowledgeable about the menu and very attentive to our table.
Food was good but i felt not up to par with King St. location, Ho farms tomato and watermelon salad was great and so was the stir fried soy beans. I had the Miso braised shortribs and butter poached shrimp, the shortribs was super fork tender but lacked flavor except for the sauce which was a little sweet. The shrimp on skewers was bland also and over cooked. For dessert we had the Lilikoi bread pudding Brulee, very strong and sour for my taste. Expected more like a milder taste of lilikoi."

"Food was great and service was impeccable as usual. I had the loco moco prix fixe dinner. Great value and the waialua chocolate candy bar is to DIE for! Their ingredients are also locally sourced - big positive. This is one of a few restaurants that you can go to get a good meal and have a conversation without yelling at each other. Highly recommended."
