"The food was delicious.. The hostess was very nice however our waiter was awful. First of all, when we got seated, he didn't even say Hello, he didn't smile, he didn't even seemed to care for his job. The food came on time and at the end he came and without us asking, he threw the check on the table and told my friend that the they were closing and that we needed to close the check. We wanted to stay for drinks but we were so unhappy with his service that we left and went to another bar. I understand that the restaurant was closing BUT he should have not throw the check and told us that. He should suggest for us to stay by the bar or go upstairs. Unfortunately i don't remember the guys name, i don't even know if he told us his name."

"The food was amazing. The chef was open to mxiing different types of enchiladas even though it was "available" on the menu. Even gave me a separate side of habanero sauce to spice it up to my liking. Margaritas were good strong (and on special). Our server was fantastic, attentive but not overbearing. I will definitely be going back and bringing friends"

"My friend and I chose to do the bottomless brunch on Saturday. Our waitress was friendly and helpful and after learning of our food preferences, offered to select some items from the menu to try for the bottomless brunch. The Bloody Maria's were delicious as was the watermelon seasonal drink that my friend had. Overall, everything was superb. We received excellent service, were never rushed and enjoy wonderful food. While the price was a little steep including our coffees, it was definitely worth if for the food and drinks we enjoyed. I would definitely recommend El Centro for brunch."

"Our favorites were the chicken tinga and the pambazo. Delicious. The margarita was a little bit on the sweet side, but it was refreshing, so was the michelada. All their dishes were fresh and tasty, we'll be back!"

"Went to brunch on Memorial Day with my sister and her husband who were visiting me for the weekend. I couldn't have been happier with every single aspect of the brunch: food, drinks, and service were amazing. We all shared a consensus top 3 dishes - the pork tacos, the french toast, and the shrimp and crab enchiladas (each person had a different ranking order of the dishes, but we all agreed that these three were the best). The Watermelon Aqua Fresca was incredibly refreshing and still had a kick to it. At the end of their weekend, my sister and her husband came away extremely impressed with DC and this brunch certainly had a factor in that!"

"Unfortunately we attended brunch here because Masa 14 was booked. We were seated downstairs instead of the main dining area, even though we had reservations. The atmosphere down there is dreary. The service was slow. Since its AYCE tapas we ordered several different items. Every dish arrived cold and was not in the order we ordered them. After a couple dishes we gave up ordering and still never received everything we ordered. The slow service would have been acceptable if we were receiving hot food, but as mentioned before, everything came out cold."

"I was really excited to have dinner and make happy hour, but you cannot do both unless you sit at a bar. We opted for a table and some of their margaritas which had great reviews. While they tasted great, there was no bang for your buck. If you are spending that much on a pitcher, you should be getting a decent amount of alcohol in them. Frankly, it tasted like they gave us virgin ones. My date and I both got tacos. His grilled steak were very plain, but my fish were PHENOMENAL. I would recommend eating here, but only drink the margs if you come for happy hour."

"The food was good but not amazing. The frustrating part was the service. I don't know if it was because we had a large group so the service charge was mandatory but the service was terrible. We had bottomless brunch and the waiter just didn't bring what we ordered, told us it was family style so we should eat what was there despite ordering other items, and would disappear for long stretches (or just didn't come to the table despite obviously seeing us trying to flag him down). The table of three next to us also didn't get way they ordered so I don't think it was just us. The manager was trying to help but there's only so much she could do.
I would try somewhere else before returning."

"El Centro is reliable. I have been several times. I much prefer the lower level -- less noisy and better atmosphere. The food is decent, but somewhat plain and uninspired. If I had one recommendation it would be for the kitchen to try to get beyond the plain and to something a little more exciting. Mexican food is supposed to be spicy and full of different flavors and El Centro could push the envelop a bit. The current presentation is more like Mexican food cooked by an English housewife."

"This is the second time I've been to this restaurant for brunch. There are many options for delicious tapas and the unlimited drinks that come with bottomless brunch is fantastic. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking to enjoy unlimited food and drinks for a reasonable price. The ambiance is really cool but sometimes it can get a little bit dark."

"From entry into the restaurant, it appeared different...our table was downstairs at the Tequileria, which I thought would be a negative...it was not...although rustic and cavern-like, it was creatively lit with Aztec figures in the walls backlit by blue and green colored lights (reminds one of Epcot, but not in a bad way)...the food started with the guacamole, mixed at tableside and definitely with a great taste of habanero peppers, so ask for mild if you don't want hot but even that was just enough to get your attention...I could not stop eating them...the entire meal was waay above average and the service was very friendly and expeditious...I will definitely go back and take friends...oh, mojitos?...not so much..."

"Great experience! Wonderful server who was very helpful with picking out items from the long list of brunch options. The fresca cocktails are refreshing and delicious. "I really want to like this place, but after three attempts must conclude this is really just a nice tequila bar making a halfhearted attempt to serve food. Twice the food was delivered cold, servers indifferent and nonchalant, inocrrect orders, lengthy delays in receiving food, drinks, drink refills. Stick to the bar."

"Had the bottomless brunch here - fantastic. Great, tapas style menu with lots of choices. Service was top-notch: our server checked on us frequently and kept my drinks full. "Their tacos are impressive, though they had run out of the lamb version (sigh). I'd only been there on a weeknight, and went on a Saturday, and had no clue it was such a scene. In fact, there was a line out the door for bar when we left at 10:30pm.

"Overall a great exeprience. Despite the chaos at the front where those without reservations were trying to get in, we were sat immediately at our reservation time and had a nice table downstairs which is much better and has a cool ambiance (upstairs is very loud). It was a little chilly when we got downstairs (many of the other customers were wearing jackets) so we said something to the manager who fixed it immediately. We had the carne asada and the chipotle shrimp both of which were tremendous. Ask your server for a recommendation of tequila and give it a shot (literally and figuratively). Great food, great service."

"Went for the bottomless brunch. The food was awesome, however the restaurant doesn't do a good job of letting customers know that technically the brunch ends at three. That means the kitchen and bar close at three. So, you have to order food before 3 o'clock. Hence, we were late for reservation so we only got a sampling of food. They even regulate the number of drinks you can have on your table at once. I figure if brunch ends at three they should at least continue to serve for guest seated by the cutoff time."

"The food was very yummy, but I think I was most impressed by our server. She was so sweet, accommodating, and knowledgeable about the food and margaritas. Her suggestions were great, and she made it a point to check in on my table to make sure we were enjoying our food and beverages. Her name was Christiana (sp) and I absolutely loved her. I really hope to see her when I go back.
Finding very good food in DC is difficult. And while El Centro is not the best Mexican I have ever had (by far) I really enjoyed visiting this establishment, the great service, and the yummy margaritas."

"The ambience here is terrific. We ordered the guacamole medium, but it was extremely mild. The maragaritas were far too sweet, and the food was good but not spectacular. We enjoyed our evening, but frankly, later that evening we couldn't even remember the name of the restaurant."

"Great all-you-can-eat (and drink) brunch. Food and drinks kept coming. Each dish was delicious and the drinks were fabulous. One of my favorites was the tamale. Guacamole with salsa and chips to start was a fantastic start. If you're drinking, I highly recommend the watermelon agua fresca. I have definite plans to come for brunch again!"

"I found the Margaritas a little too sweet for my personal taste. The food was really delicious and very shareable. The service was very friendly, however I felt that there weren't enough servers for the downstairs dining area. Overall, I would go back. The atmosphere is really fun."
