"Brought a colleague to Niche asa treat - he hadn't ben before - and we were both tremendously happy with the experience. The new Spring Menu for lunch is fabulous - had tough time choosing what to eat, but our selections were delicious ... so we'll have to come back to try the rest of the menu! Brilliant, as always."

"Niche is amazing!!! Best food we've had in ages. The cocktail list is of the finer ones in the city. We started off with a mojito that was AMAZING!! Then went onto Sangria which included pears and a nice red wine. We will be back again, Great Spot!"

"Overall not great. Nice staff but timing was way off. Sangria tastes like pink sprite and salad vinaigrette way too tart. Too expensive for what you get. Not fit for foodies!"

"Had a great lunch experience with 2 others. All meals were very tasty - the waitress was fun - and the broken cup dessert was a spectacle! Will definitely go back.
Tables are close together so if you want a private spot this might not be the place."

"Right when you enter the ambience hits you and you know the experience is going to be delicious for all the senses! A gorgeous server named Teresa greeted me warmly and was very knowledgeable of the menu and even offered me a beer that wasn't even on the market yet! Once looking at the menu I wanted to try everything! Chef Hansen was cooking this night and I would say that he has to be the best chef in the city. He knows flavor like "the back of his hand"! Everything accenting the other flavors perfectly and the plating was emaculate! Chef Hansen even came out to serve the dessert and to make sure everything was delicious! I would recommend this resto to any food critic. I will definitely be back!"

"The chef doesn't seem to understand flavour. Dishes were consistently 1-note. The kitchen let's this place down. Great potential in every other way but the food is definitely poor relative to others restaurants in this price range."

"The food was absolutely beautiful. Chef Hanson made a custom meal that was both vegan and gluten free. It really felt like a special occasion for me and my girlfriend. The food was absolutely exquisite. Atmosphere was beautiful and romantic. Service was casual, yet professional. We felt comfortable, yet we also felt like we were enjoying a proper night out.
We will absolutely be coming back."

"As always, dinner at Niche did not disappoint. Our party of four ordered the Beef Cheeks, Lobster Pot Pie and two of Mandel's Mandibles and everything was delicious. And the Broken Coffee Cup was exciting as always. We've loved the winter menu and are really excited to see what's on the new menu!"

"We really enjoyed this little restaurant. The service was near perfection, and the food was creative and tasty. Prices were fair and the wine list had a good selection of wines by the glass. I am looking forward to going back and trying the new menu.
My one caveat is this: it wasn't too busy on a Tuesday evening, so it wasn't noisy or crowded. But on a busy night, you would, in effect, be sitting with the people at the table next to you, as there is little room between tables in this tiny restaurant.
My advice: make a reservation, and don't go there expecting a quiet, intimate experience. You'll have a great time!"

"One person had duck. For 28 dollars, it came with peas and a pureed vegetable. For 24 dollars, my husband and I had 8 mushroom ravioli in a white sauce period. I found this unbalanced as a meal and way over price-wise.
Our 60$ bottle of wine was mediocre.
They can do better."

"Late lunch at Niche. Only one other party in the restaurant, and they had already been served. Server very capable and friendly, but what was going on in the kitchen? Over 30 minutes to fix up 2 identical sandwiches and salads. Food was tasty, but skimpy for the price."

"Restaurant messed up my reservation, seated my party at a table and then asked us to leave the table for another group, even though I received a phone call earlier that day to confirm my booking. Overall, 40 minute wait for a table that was reserved. The party before us at our table was there for 2 hours and still had not finished their meal. We were offered complementary champagne but manager did not apologize or speak to us. Food was delicious. Server messed up on the billing and tabbed extra food I did not eat onto my bill. He would not remove it even though he incorrectly billed someone who left earlier. Server still got tipped 18% (mandatory for parties of 8 despite our party consisting of 7 persons)."

"Best Restaurant In Edmonton!! Every time I go to LA I eat at place where the tables are communial and everybody talks together about the food and the different aspects of it. Niche reminded me of this as the food and service are incredible and something to talk about. Edmonton really has grown in the culinary world ... A must see spot"

"We had a made reservations ahead of time and when we arrived we were seated at the bar, which definitely were not the most comfortable seats. We had overheard some waiters saying that there was a couple of patrons that weren't ordering anymore food or drinks but weren't leaving. We would have hoped that the patrons just sitting there would have been relocated to the bar to make room for patrons that were eating and drinking. Other than this, the food was amazing. We would be back as long as we were seated at a table."

"Upon arriving, three tables that had a reservation at 9pm had to wait for a good 15 minutes. I felt that this was a bit disorganized. The pacing of the food was good. I had the truffle mushroom ravioli, which was delicious, and my friend had the braised beef cheeks with broad noodle, which was not impressive at all. Dessert was a flourless chocolate brownie, which was extremely hard (think having to grip the fork in hammer-fist form to get a piece off). The place was very tight/cramped, and I wasn't really comfortable with how close we were to other tables.
Overall, the experience was alright, (the ravioli being the saving grace) but I wouldn't rush to come back."

"This intimate restaurant has quickly become my favorite. It is a little gem hidden away on Jasper Avenue. The chef Eric has a gift for creating delicious comfort food. He will send a taste of something special to your table during the evening. His soup of the day was brocolli soup that was the best I have ever tasted. Somehow he takes the oridnary and transforms it into something special. The beef cheeks on the menu are slow cooked (11 hours) Tender locally raised free range beef that is melt in your mouth delicious. We have also enjoyed the mushroom truffle ravioli and the artic char. All very well presented. You must save room for dessert as Eric makes a coffee cup out of Challebaut chocolate and fills it with a chocolate mousse (changing"

"Decided to try the place out for Downtown Dining Week. Not sure if their portions were smaller for the promo meals, or if they're usually that small, but we left the restaurant still hungry. Food was a big fat "meh". Appetizers were unimpressive (tomato tatin too sour, I found the cream of broccoli soup salty), my entree of the beef cheeks was incredibly bland. Some people might find the place "cozy", I found it too packed. The tables were packed so tightly together, and with candles on the tables, I thought my coat would catch on fire as I squeezed past tables to get to my seat."

"Tiny little space with delicious food and quick attentive service. At times you feel like your rubbing elbows with the table next to you so the seating is a little tight. But so worth a visit, tasty treats and just a lovely vibe to the entire evening!"

"I went during dining week where set three course dinners were either $25 or $50. I took the waiter's recommendation of the lamb for $50, who seriously overrated it. I chose the mussels for appetizers which had a tomato sauce but did not have any original or exciting tastes. The lamb itself was quite dry and bland. The ambiance was cool and laid back but space was extremely tight. There were several occasions when I had to make sure the waiter did not knock down wine glasses with his bottom. Overall, the food was okay. It is definitely not worth the above market price when you can get similar quality from competing chain restaurants."

"Service and food great. Tables a bit too close together for our liking. No evident coat rack and no offer of taking coats was made. Given our climate a baffled entry way would be good so that cold air isn't coming in directly at those sitting at the bar."

"We stood in the doorway for 10min past reservation time and when we were seated, it took 10 minutes to have our water glasses filled and 30 min for us to receive drinks. The appetizer was also very slow to come out but the mains followed immediately after the appetizer plates were taken. The chef did come out to give us 50% off our bill and a dessert. Unfortunately the dessert (which we didn't order) was charged to our bill and we did pay 50% of it. I would suggest that the server be better trained as she appeared to forget us numerous times.
I very much appreciate the chef coming to our table to apologize for the slow service and I would likely go back for one more try.
The mussels and the truffle ravioli were delicious!"

"My boyfriend and I dined here on Valentines Day and it was amazing! Like some other reviewers have stated, it's a tiny place so if you're afraid of sitting too close to your neighbor you might want to find another place. The food, waitstaff and atmosphere were all perfect.Since it was Valentines Day they were offering a prix fixe menu so I cannot comment on the regular menu items. However, my boyfriend and I both ordered different things for each course and sampled each others-and everything was outstanding! This place is so cute I'd totally recommend it for a date night!"

"Niche was the perfect spot for our group of four. We began our meal with the cocktail of the day, followed by a wounderful amuse bouche brought to our table by the chef. Our server was knowledgeable about the wine list, as well as the menu, providing a great insight when it came down to making difficult selections. I say difficult selections, only because we wanted to try everything on the menu. We began with the soup of the day and the bison carpaccio. As a carpaccio lover, I found this dish to be outstanding. It was extremely fresh and full of flavour. Our table favourites were the lobster pot pie and the rabbit broth risotto. It was a great dining experience and I would highly recommend it for a romantic date or group of friends."

"It's a very small restaurant. Tables for 2 were set up less than half a meter from each other; you can talk to the couple sitting at the next table without raising your voice. On Valentine’s Day they had pre-set menu for $65 per person, including complimentary glass of Champagne, and 2-3 choices of each: appetizer, main and desert. We were not able to order some dishes from the regular dinner menu that we wanted. I have found a dressing on the lobster appetizer too spicy and chef offered me a substitute, I appreciate that. The highlight of the evening was Broken Coffee Cap desert! That really made our night, so overall we were happy. We will return to try dishes from the regular dinner menu"

"Have been at Niche once before and thoroughly enjoyed it. I'd heard that the food had gone downhill, but I would definitely disagree with that! It was food of the "Gasp! OMG!" variety, in the best possible way. My truffled mushroom ravioli were to die for, and the bison carpaccio wasn't just melt in your mouth - it was so finely sliced it melted on your fork. The signature Chocolate Cup dessert was both fun and delicious.
I remember the restaurant being noisy to the extreme, but it wasn't as busy tonight so it was (thankfully) quieter. The tables are very close together, so don't plan a romantic evening here, but do give it a try if you are looking for a great food experience."

"This was an interesting dining experience - a very good one - with only one key area we felt for improvement. Wine list was ample and priced appropriately; the prawn starter was excellent. Wild salmon special excellent as well - cooked to perfection & great combo of veggie/etc. Dessert choice (breaded toffee) was great as well. My dining partner's highlight was the lobster pot pie - raved over it as one of her best ever dishes. The restaurant is intimate and not that many seats and service/timing of food was fine. Our server was efficient but seemed a bit rushed. Nice touch - chef coming out to briefly chat about lobster main course - am sure it may have been longer on a less busy night. Overall the food overcame server issue. Would return!"

"Small cozy restaurant well worth visiting. Although the menu is not as extensive as you might find elsewhere, the entrees we had were delicious, with creative combinations of tastes that paired well with suggested wines. The dessert was flambéd before us by one of the chefs and equally tasty. Service was friendly and attentive, and quite prompt."
