"one of the few decent restaurants in the Times Square area. the artichoke pizza and hamachi appetizers we tried on this occasion were very good, as were the lemon drop martinis."

"Went to Above for lunch before "Mary Poppins." I was glad I had made a 12:15 reservation because it was very busy with other theater goers. We were taken right on time but because it was so crowded our food took a while to come. Our four year old kept saying how hungry he was. Even though there were no children's lunches visible on the regular menu, the waiter offered a number of children's choices. The food was very pleasing to all members of our party of four. We asked the waiter for our check while we were eating and we made it to the theater with a little time to spare. We will be sure to return."

"WE have been to "ABOVE" many times as a pre-theater lunch.. This time we asked for the restaurant week menu and it was lovely and quite filling... The only objection I had was the charges for tea and seltzer.. Five dollars for each which really brought the bill up."

"Surprisingly, this restaurant is very small -- only a few 8-10 tables near the bar area. Though the food was very good, the atmosphere sounded and looked more impressive than was actually the case."

"The food was very good. The service could have been much better. It was hard to get our waiter's attention to get more ketchup or salad dressing and soda. It's a nice place for lunch if you are going to a show on 42nd Street."

"This restaurant in the Hilton on 42nd used to be gem for the theater crowd. Food is till very good and creative at a reasonable price but they have made the room smaller by expanding the noisy bar and more open to the bar. Also, the style/ambiance has become far less formal bordering on cold.

I could tell they must be doing something wrong because during restaurant week instead of being packed only a few tables of theatergoers were there."

"ABOVE is in the sky lobby of a Hilton, so it's more of an 'area' than a restaurant, and this is a negative aspect. Plus the potential for noise is tremendous, which is to be expected with so much foot traffic and no walls. Nevertheless, the food was tasty and fairly priced for Manhattan, and the service was smooth and attentive. Let's face it, 42nd street isn't exactly a diner's haven, so this spot -- well hidden -- is something of a find.

One complaint: $5 for a club soda at the bar is ridiculous."

"The food was pretty good. We did the restaurant week menu. Service was really really slow, and the restaurant wasn't at all crowded. It got so late that we didn't have time to eat our dessert and had to take it with us for later.Good location for theater, though."

"The service was excellent. However, there is no scenic view sat by the window - windows needs cleaning. In the website the restaurant appears to be in a room however, this restaurant is actually set up in a lobby near the elevators for the hotel guests. Open setting. The food was just okay. Wouldn't recommend. Many other options in New York that I would prefer to re-visit."

"The restaurant is well appointed and quiet even though it is located in the lobby of the Hilton. Although all the food was good, it took an inordiante amount of time for our appetizers and our main course to be served. We waited over a half hour for the appetizers and close to 20 minutes for the main course. It left us no time for coffee and/or dessert because we had to make an 8:00 PM curtain. We were very disappointed."

"Was very disappointed. We had dined and enjoyed Above once before this experience. They must have changed chefs because overall quality of the food was poor. Lobster chowder was tasteless. The pappardelle was overcooked and the herb mushroom cream sauce was bland. The monkfish was dried out. Only decent dish was the garlic shrimp with a tart. Decent and affordable wine list. Would not return."
