"We had a party of 6 to celebrate birthdays. The menu was packed with lots of choice - we ordered a number of dishes to share - the food and flavours were to die for - recommend the Samosas, Crab Cake, Venison amongst many others.
The service was efficient - although felt slightly rushed :( - need to do a better job of not running out of the beers - this is the second time this has happened."

"I have been to Tashan several times and always ordered a selection of small plates and that's what I did for this dinner also. There are many delicious and interesting options especially vegetarian. The wine choices are unusual and the server gave us a couple of tastings to help us make our selection. Our server, the same one that waited on me before, was attentive and courteous. There were a couple of items we didn't like very much and he took them away and took them off our bill. I would not recommend the sherbet, as twice it arrived melted and we didn't like the flavors. I definitely would return to Tashan and recommend it to others who like out-of-the-ordinary food. Free valet parking is handy for people who are driving into town."

"This was my 1st time here but certainly not my last. Our waiter made suggestions which we tried (dishes we wouldn't have ordered) and everything was delicious. Lamb chops so tender and flavorful,lobster with mashed potatoes was cooked to perfection.

"Excellent service and the free valet parking was great since it was raining when we visited. Food was creatively prepared and delicious but don't expect the "usual" Indian dishes. I'd say it's more *influenced* by typical Indian dishes and seasonings. Also, surprisingly, there are some but not a large number of vegetarian selections.
Ask your server about sizes since they vary even among the same menu section. Dishes can easily be shared. Spiciness is variable, generally on the mild-to-medium side; sometimes an ingredient on the side like Kashmir paprika allows you to adjust it yourself. Only slight disappointments were the Goat Cheese Taftaan, mostly a big cheese slice, and the Masala Donut, with chocolate on the side, not inside."

"Came here after sampling the food at Taste the Nation Philadelphia. It totally meet our expectations and was wonderful! The food is a little pricey but everything is made fresh and extremely flavorful. Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and gave the appropriate recommendations about wine. "I don't know that much about traditional Indian food, but what I can say is that everything we ate was delicious. The service was very good and helpful; they gave us enough time between courses to enjoy ourselves. The décor and ambiance of the room is very hip, making this a desirable place for a night out. I hope this restaurant continues to do well because unique, well executed restaurants like this are much desired."

"Great restaurant for the variety and taste of food served tapas style. Not the typical Indian restaurant. Each dish was freshly prepared and had its own unique flavor. Most dishes were excellent. "I've been to Tashan several times over the past two months for different occasions - dining with friends, celebrating my two year anniversary with my boyfriend, dinner with parents - and every time has been spectacular. The food is beyond belief & the service is better than I've experienced anywhere else.
One server in particular, Jason, always goes out of his way to make the dining experience an EXPERIENCE, not just a meal. I'm always amazed that not only does he provide stellar service, but he even remembers my specific dietary restrictions. WHAT SERVER DOES THAT?! That's amazing.
The food is ridiculously delicious. Every single person I've taken to this restaurant agreed that they could eat there every single day and be happy."

"The restaurant set up is great, it is clean and perfect. However, I was kind of disappointed with food, since it was very bland. It would be a joke, if someone said that food was spicy. For Philly sake, this is Indian restaurant and I would expect some spice to my food. Food comes in small quantities and it is EXPENSIVE. The environment is great, service was fair. I had to call my waitress on every order. She was very fast in asking, if everything was ok - right after the first bite. This is not Indian restaurant but FUSION."

"Knowledgeable and enthusiastic service, with some interesting beers. German reisling was very good. This is definitely not a standard curry house. In fact it's trying a bit too hard with the clever stuff (for example - adding yoghurt to the biryani at the table is dumb when its served with a pie crust to keep the rice fluffy, not soggy!) and turning things that really are not, into sharing plates (they're of course not the only restaurant right now desperate to tapasize everything). Still, I don't want to be overly critical. The food, although not consistantly memorable, was tasty, and of good quality. Four stars."

"The restaurant interior was great and the service is GOOD. On Sunday, my (American) friends and I met at this restaurant for brunch. The food taste was not 100% Indian, I expected the food to be hot and spicy (or adjust cooking taste per customer needs - there was no choice and waitress never asked) but disappointed. Taste was very bland. Even, my two American friends from NJ were unhappy.
Expensive (it would have been OK if they served 100% Indian) and quantities were SMALL. GOC Naan, Chili Naan were almost or smaller than bread slice and while serving this lady said - here they are mini Naans. However, it did not say MINI Naan on the menu.
Oh, well - Another experience. This restaurant is not for me."

"It took me a while to get here, but it was worth the wait. I had a memorable dining experience here- from out server Kevin to the attention that was paid to us by everyone on the staff. The decor is modern and sexy and the staff ain't bad either!
Food was enjoyable and my companion was surprised as she never had crab cakes or spinach salad prepared in such an unusual way.

"Tashan had a mother's day brunch this year, which apparently was new. This was our first time eating there and the food was incredible, despite it being "buffet" style which can often result in old/stale food. The food was prepared in front of you, the servers and staff paid incredible detail to make sure they got everything correct (down to the smallest ingredient) and the result was some of the best Indian food I've eaten in Philadelphia. It was a true testament to the quality of the food that there were several other Indian families who had brought their mothers and grandmothers to the restaurant! The staff were also incredibly attentive and very nice. We will definitely return for dinner; and hope they will continue to have brunch!"

"We had a selection of small plates and enjoyed each one. This restaurant probably has the most interesting food in the city. The service was remarkably attentive and courteous especially considering it was a weekend. It's a bit noisy but not impossible to converse. I would definitely return and recommend it highly to people who appreciate unique and tasty food."

"My boyfriend & I went there for our anniversary. Loving Indian flavors already we were excited about dining there. Little to our knowledge we would have such a great time and experience. "My wife and I went for our first trip to Tashan and won't go back...ever. We were promply seated, provided water and then nothing. We didn't see another staff member for 25 minutes before walking out. All in all, not the night out we were looking for."

"This was my first time at Tashan and I most certainly will return. The restaurant itself is styled in a way that makes you feel like you are not in South Philly. The service at every stage of dinner was amazing. They provide a water "pitcher" for each table but not once did I pour for myself. I choose the prefix menu and left feeling that my money was well spent, and more importantly, full.
A great place for a date when you want to impress."

"We returned to Tashan to enjoy the five-course chef's dinner, and had a terrific meal. The variety of the food and the inspired use of spice was truly enjoyable. We chose to eat outside, and in spite of being right on South Broad, we were comfortable and able to converse easily. The service was attentive, knowing that we had a concert to attend. Tashan is becoming one of my favorite restaurants in Philadelphia!"

"Not in the heart of the usual "foody Philly" district but absolutely worth the visit. Modern decor, excellent service from hostess, through bartenders to wait staff everyone was attentive and interestingly all of them were so well acquainted with the menu all could provide detailed recommendations. Our waiter, Drake, was energetic, engaged and ready to provide his recommendations on all courses and beverages. It's so great to have a server who cares, you realize what a difference it makes to your dining experience. We ordered small and large plates throughout the evening, the kitchen didn't need all our orders up front, which was interesting for this level of restaurant, the customer was actually the center of attention."

"it may not be authentic but it is still tasty...i brought a colleague of mine here who is India (from New Delhi) and he said that although many dishes are not authentic Indian, they were still very tasty. highlights were the scallops, the chicken tandoor, and of course the creme brulee...excellent stuff.

"We have been to Tashan before. In terms of Indian food it is extraordinary. The prix fixe is good value. The presentation is excellent. The service was really OFF. There was no valet parking (even though they remind you of it when confirming your reservation). The parking is necessary due to the lack of street parking or garages and the less than central location. Appetizers got switched,. Service was very slow. Something was awry, they knew things were off and did everything they could to upgrade the meal and please us, including comping us a wonderful dessert. We were somewhat disappointed. We will go again,. It really is a lovely place, and a great addition to South Broad Street.
The music was suprising, not intrusive and a nice plus."

"Top-notch food and service made for a great experience. The small plates and entrees were paced nicely, not thrown in front of you like so many restaurants these days. Presentation was very creative and interesting. Loved everything we ate though everything sounded so mysterious on the menu. Had to ask a lot of questions to the waitress who was more than eager to explain. Only problem was loudness in such a big, open space and a drafty, chill in the air."
