Located in the picturesque West Marin town of Point Reyes Station, Osteria Stellina offers a delicious, intimate, farm-to-table dining experience. Known for our local and seasonal cuisine, we strive to showcase the bounty of West Marin on every plate. Our ingredients are sourced from the surrounding regions many farmers, ranchers, and fisherman; each dish reads like a sophisticated blue plate special, comprised of what's close and plentiful on a given day. The result is a creative, clean, farm fresh menu we like to call "Point Reyes Italian". Osteria Stellina's daily lunch and dinner menus include house made pastas and bread, organic salads and soups, pizzas, sustainable meats and seafood, an array of satisfying desserts, and a carefully edited and affordable wine list featuring local vineyards and Italian favorites. Local beer is on tap and additional beers are available by the bottle. The restaurant's gracious dining room is ideal for diners of all ages and any occasion.
"We went on a busy Friday evening, had submitted a reservation online, and were seated immediately. The oysters, blue-cheese salad, and salmon dishes were both fresh and delicious. We also enjoyed the desserts, which included sassafras ice cream that tasted like minty root beer, paired with a snicker-doodle cookie."

"We went to Osteria Stellina to celebrate Mother's Day. I don't know what the hype is about. Our bill for 5 totaled $200 but it was really a meal worth $130. Both pizzas had oily residue on the bottom, my husband's mussel dish was "just alright," and my teenage sons said that the dessert was the best part of the meal. I enjoyed my salad but, all in all, the meal wasn't as "farm to table" as I thought it would be. Also, I ordered an $8 glass of house white and it came in a regular water glass. Isnt $8 enough to spend on a glass of wine? The $14 cheese plate was skimpy.
Service was so-so. We sat at the table for 1/2 hr. before bread & water were served. I had to remind the waiter to bring my wine and more bread for the cheese plate."

"Osteria Stellina is a great restaurant not to be missed if you are in the Pt. Reyes area. Everything on the menu is delicious--you may want several first courses for dinner simply to be able to taste more. Dessert is great!"

"Rather a misplaced restaurant. Charges like in San Francisco, but a backwater in all respects. Staff tries hard, but food is not worth price. Wine list, too, is a bit above Pt Reyes' 'Station"."

"Service was outstanding. They accommodated our group growing from 4 to 6 when we bumped into friends and asked them to join us. Water (lots of it), ice, butter for those wanted it, friendliness, efficiency . . . the wait staff offered it all. The asparagus-potato puree soup was so good we all wished we had ordered bowls instead of cups. The grilled cheese sandwiches were knockouts, and the one who had goat with hers would order it again. The spiced stew was tasty and the accompanying polenta marvelous, but the sauce was a bit too salty. The bread is baked locally and so good that even I, not known to eat bread, didn't pass it up. Only disappointment - the best olive oil I ever had was not locally sourced but from Italy."

"I had read about Osteria Stellina for years, so on this trip to Pt Reyes, we made a point to make a reservation...we were in the San Francisco area for about 10 days...........and this was our favorite dining experience! Just so nice, waiter was knowledgeable and friendly, atmosphere simple yet tasteful, food was absolutely wonderful! Everything we ordered couldn't have been better...We were given attention, yet not overdone....wish we could have tried more selections...so beautifully presented..and so delicious...we will return!!"

"After a long trek at Point Reyes, this Western Marin location was all we could ask for. Food was delicious, server was knowledgeable and recommended the goat signature dish, ambiance was active but not overly rowdy. We started with the burrata and the lentil soup and were happy with a pea sprout/beet/cheese appetizer; then the waiter suggested the pasta of the day (pancetta and peas over orchiette, very al dente, and delicious) as well as the braised goat. We had beers and just enjoyed the place. It was low key, but high end. A perfect ending to a glorious day. Sadly, we were too full for dessert but everyone around us looked happy as the final stage of the meal appeared. \Staff was great; sat us immediately though we were late."

"Generally overpriced for food served. Although menu indicated an italian cuisine, was not up to par as italian. Disappointing pasta. Although I like chilis in many dishes, their inclusion in some of these "italian" dishes was surprising. Definitely nothing special. Wine just so-so - $$$ price should have warranted a better quality."

"Delicious food, excellent ingredients, thoughtful service. Restaurant was busy and a little loud. Main course was delicious though could have been presented a bit better on the plate .Dessert was innovative and refreshing- I am always impressed when pastry chefs come up with Interesting combinations. "So disappointed by Stellina, we had a party of 3 with a reservation, yet were seated 25 to 30 minutes after our res time while they waited for a table set in the middle of the closely set room to open up, even tho there were two tables by the windows that could have accommodated our party. Once finally seated we had to wait a long time for our waiter to acknowledge us. Service was slow & at points non-existent, waiter forgot to deliver 2nd glass of wine ordered by one of our party, did not offer coffee or tea with dessert. Food was very good, service terrible, except for the hostess that picked up the slack. Too expensive for a mediocre experience. Over-hyped."

"We went to lunch on a Saturday and arrived early for our 12:30 reservation. We were seated immediately and greeted by a very friendly (almost too friendly) waiter. He took our drink order immediately and we picked the ricotta/haznuet crostini as a starter. It was excellent. We also ordered the beef stew, a pepperoni pizza and the halibut poached in olive oil. The fish and stew were excellent, but the pizza was a little greasy, probably due to the pepperoni. We didn't have dessert. Overall, the food was very good and the service fine, once the waiter "calmed down". Point Reyes is very isolated and it took over an hour to get there from San Rafael, so I wouldn't go again, unless I was already in the area."

"While they have THE best grilled cheese I've ever had, their dinner options for vegetarians are not so great. And I was surprised that when I ordered an entrée without the meat that the price of the entrée on my bill was not reduced whatsoever. That coupled with pretty slow service didn't make for a great evening. I love the restaurant for their use of local farmed foods, but the dinner experience could have been much better. I'll be sticking to lunches there only from now on."

"Overall, very nice. Nothing amazing except the desert--a madeline cake with some kind of cream--amazing cake and great housemade vanilla ice cream on the side.
We had fresh gulf shrimp cocktail, the barley soup was very good, hearty flavor and herbaceous; then a fava leaf salad: very nice. We had the oyster/leak pizza. The oysters and leak topping were very good but the crush was a disappointment. Too much olive oil we speculated so a little mushy and lacked the crunch for a thin crust affair. Good flavors all around. Get the cake!"

"We enjoyed Osteria Stellina very much. We had a reservation and were seated promptly; the staff were friendly and helpful. We opted for a series of small plates and a pizza, and all were well crafted and tasty. We especially appreciated the emphasis on local produce, which was cooked well and tasty. We recommend Osteria Stellina enthusiastically and look forward to returning soon to try the many menu options that got our attention but we simply couldn't eat. Great spot and a very enjoyable evening."

"We had high expectations for this restaurant based on the reviews on Opentable. The service was great but not enough to make up for the mediocre food. Seafood stew was very salty and dessert tasted like it sat open in the fridge for too long. Will definitely skip over for Marin Sun Farm Cafe on our next trip."

"Fine dining in Point Reyes Station! Cuisine is innovative enough to be interesting, but isn't pretentious. Portions are old-fashionedly large (the beans-and-greens appetizer, which we had on another occasion, was big enough for a main dish). It's pricey for our style, but we've eaten there cheaply by splitting a pizza. A charming touch is the flatware: silver plate, every piece different."

"We had a wonderful romantic Valentines Day dinner...the food was excellent, especially the roasted chestnut soup, and the tenderloin was done to perfection. The wine pairings with the fixed menu were nice too. What really made it special though was the attentive and friendly staff, they really made us feel at home"

"On the night we dined here, everything was pretty much perfect. We liked seeing fresh ideas on the menu---fresh, as in both innovative and straight-from-the-farm-fresh. I would call the cuisine high-end comfort food. Beans and greens? Oh, yes! The service was both friendly and professional. First courses arrived quickly; others followed in perfect order and hot from the kitchen. I'm bothered by noisy restaurants, so I was worried about noise levels. However, this was not ear-splitting, and we could conduct a conversation (I admit, most of the conversation was, "Ooh, that's good." "Very nice!" "Taste this!") Our only regret was that we had not made additional reservations through the busy weekend."

"Food was average/good with splashes of brilliance. Great front of the house/reservations as they make every attempt to accommodate with or without a reservation. Unfortunately the experience was marred by inconsistent and sadly lacking service. Some servers were extremely efficient while others had to be chased down while waiting 10 minutes to even be acknowledged by a server and half hours between courses. No apologies made."

"While this may be the best Point Reyes Station has to offer, we had a very mixed experience: good food, poor to fair service. The restaurant was very crowded. We arrived early for our reservation (9 minutes, as hostes pointed out to us) and were told there could be a 15-minute delay. The waiting area is small and crowded with only 2 chairs; seating at the bar is reserved for walk-ins.
My fish was perfectly cooked, but the vegetables, while tasty, were barely room temp. Our server never came back to check on our food, fill water glasses or offer us another glass of wine. I had to vigorously flag him down."

"3 out of the 4 dishes were great. The beef stew, chicken stuffed with prosciutto and the blood orange salad were excellent. Stay away from the oyster, leek pizza. It was VERY heavy on the olive oil, so much that the crust was soggy and limp. What a disappointment since I went there based on the reputation of the pizza. Everything else was excellent."

"My husband and I truly enjoyed our dining experience at Osteria Stellina. We've eaten there about 4 times now, whenever we go to Pt. Reyes Station. Our server was excellent (wish I could remember his name) and recommended a really great wine based on what kind of wine we told him we like. The steamed muscles were excellent, and my house-made pasta with veal rague was outstanding. The reason I give this restaurant a "very good" instead of "outstanding" overall experience is because the room is quite cramped. My purse was knocked off the back of my chair and a server accidentally knocked into my husband's back. It is also a very loud restaurant. But, outside of that, it's a wonderful place and I recommend it!"

"This was our first visit to Osteria Stellina. A friend of our highly recommended you based on the cheese platter alone and we have to agree! The seasonal ingredient based menu was fabulous. We each enjoyed our salads, the fava bean leaf was a first for me. Our entrees, Osso Buco and the Goat were just the right portion, with excellent flavor and tenderness. The wine list was varied enough to be interesting, with some fine vintages offered. My only regret is that we were too full to order dessert but we will make sure to try them on our next visit. Your staff was very attentive and friendly. We will be back!"

"My husband and I went with another couple for dinner to Osteria Stellina. I ordered two appetizers: brussel sprouts (delicious) and mussels (they were the smallest mussels ever, the sauce was way too salty). My husband and one of the other members of the party had osso bucco: mediocre. I ordered the Tiramisu dessert: way too dense and too sweet.
Overall the meal did not live up to our expectations."
