Sam"s is not about reinventing the wheel. It's more about finding four wheels that we wanted to drive around the Boston Waterfront. The local bounty of New England's farms and artisans; the simplicity of an American Diner; the endless and timeless appeal of the French Bistro menu; and the warmth and welcoming spirit of our home.
Located above Louis Boston on Fan Pier, Sam's is a 45 seat restaurant that offers stunning views of the Boston skyline and waterfront.
We are conveniently located next to the ICA and Boston Courthouse, and a short walk to the Boston Convention Center, World Trade Center, and Bank of America Pavilion.
During the warmer months, seating is available on our 80 seat patio. Reservations are only offered for the inside dining room, but please feel free to call about our wait times for outdoor seating.

"We just LOVE Sam's! The food is delicious and unique, not pretentious but truly special. The view is unparalleled, and the deck is the best place for lunch or summer cocktails in all of Boston. Service is always (we've been there lots of times) both friendly and accommodating, and the parking is free. Seriously, it's just the BEST!"

"We had a great Birthday dinner for our daughter's 30th. The view, of course, is spectacular. The food is very good and comfortable. The scene is also comfortably upscale and definitely not stuffy. A really fun evening."

"Northern Ave has changed since all the new buildings have arrived. The street winds behind the larger buildings so it's tricky to find Sams. Once your there , the view is spectacular! Great lunch spot..easy parking and great staff. You must be willing to be a little daring and try a BLT with fried egg or some other unusual combination. We loved it!"

"The view is fantastic, and the atmosphere, vibrant and trendy. But we felt as though they may be banking on the location and therefore skimping on the food. My sister in law's quinoa dish was inconsistently heated, leading us to believe it was microwaved. My husband's "medium rare" burger initially came out beyond well done - dry and chewy. After sending it back the second round was juicy, but since they are using what appear to be frozen "diner style" patties, there really is no way to get it medium rare, so maybe taking a temp shouldn't be an option. The rest of us had the grill cheese and tomato soup, which were decent enough. Although they may want to rename the tomato soup "roasted red pepper and tomato" because that's what it was."

"Unfortunately, although it was a sunny, quiet Sunday brunch, the music was loud, mainly trumpet, brass, and snare drums. The acoustics in the restaurant is already quite loud and metallic, so it was detrimental to a positive dining experience.
If this were a late night bar with a lot of young people, it may have been understandable, but the acoustics and music were not a positive experience. We are a family of musicians."

"The most challenging feature of Sam's is finding it! Sam's is located on a side street tucked behind buildings and fences in South Bosston. Signage is very poor. We walked all the way around the building, finally deciding to ask a clerk in the store on ground level where the restaurant was. When we opened the door to speak to the clerk, we finally saw our first Sam's sign! Once you've found it, the location is spectacular with extraordinary views of Boston Harbor. The space is very noisy however. Come to Sam's not for the adventure of finding it nor for the view; come for the food! A very creative menu and every dish was perfectly prepared. I had the wonderful salmon while my husband had "the best duck" he's ever eaten."

"We like Sam's for lunch. This time we had a dinner reservation. The place was full, lively and laud. Our table was ready. I had venison. It was cooked as I ordered it but extremely salty and somewhat over spiced. The wine is expensive but that is not unusual. For lunch I had the burger a few times. Great. Overall, I can recommend Sam's for the location (overlooking the harbor), the service but probably not as a culinary experience."

"Awesome spot on the Harbor. Summer is fantastic, great views and outdoor seating. Love this place because all the pieces fit: the staff is cordial, professional and smart. The food is very original, simple and delicious. For instance they have a baked chicken with quinoa that is so tasty, but very simple. The salads are interesting, big and filling. Nice tea selection as well. One of my all time favorite spots - especially for lunch. They also have a nice way of getting you in and out, quickly, but not feeling rushed."

"Often the food in a "restaurant with a view" doesn't live up to its surroundings, but Sam's, for the most part, manages to avoid this problem. We had an excellent meal: the raw oysters were outstanding and the duck and smoked salmon entrees were almost as good. The only misstep was the lobster fritter appetizer which-while pleasant tasting-did not contain much/ taste much like lobster. Portions were generous, service was pleasant and efficient on a busy night. Special kudos for the management's willingness to share the source of the wonderful bread they serve and for the waiter's willingness to honor my request for a "half pour" (at half price) on a second glass of wine. We will happily return."

"The menu is always interesting and offers a variety to many. The oysters are a great deal and so fresh and served icy cold. Menu just changed and it is a bit meat heavy but still vegetarian option. And the cioppino is a nice sized portion and worth a try. The service is always awesome and all make you feel welcome. The view is awesome- esp during a rain or snow storm!!! The cocktail list has too many good choices so ask for help- same with the wine list. Not a " neighborhood" location but you feel like a regular when you make the trip. Friday night music is a nice addition to a great meal.."

"We celebrated my husband's birthday at Sams recently and had a lot of fun with a delicious meal. Organizing a get together with friends could not have been easier, and we appreciated the meaningful friendliness that the staff showed us. The menu is down-to-earth featuring local foods with complex flavors. There was a nice though small mix of vegetarian/meat/fish dishes and a range of light appetizers and first courses. The lack of pretention and fussiness is such a nice change from the overwrought and hyped up menus of the "better" restaurants in the Boston area. There was great jazz - again by real musicians - on Friday night, and the view of Boston Harbor twinkled in the background. Lovely evening!"

"This is a fun spot to go for some great food, once you find it in the maze that is known as the Seaport. We took some out of town guests who loved the views of the city. "While your food is great and the atmosphere super cool, what catches my attention the most at Sam's is the outstanding service. It is so refreshing to walk in to a restaurant and be greeted by a smile and quick conversation welcoming your guests! We were seated immediately and immediately taken care of by our server.
I love the atmosphere and can't wait for the patio this summer! Thank you for recognizing that not only is food important in your success but also your service! We will be back!!"

"I love this spot! My only issue was that it was not full and the tables near the window felt so close together - such that conversations were shared between tables - a little ackward - hard to get privacy. I wish the tables were further apart or had higher backs and faced in different directions so you didn't feel like you were dining with strangers. This isn't the case when it's full as the background din covers a lot of the sound.

"Came here for a girlfriend's birthday. So glad she told me about this place!! LOVE. The view is amazing. The Financial District and the water. I was told in the summer they have outdoor seating so I can't wait to come back for some patio drinking. Back to our dining experience... Our server was amazing. She must have heard me say happy birthday to my girlfriend b/c at the end of lunch she told her to pick out a dessert and that no was not an option. She was also very knowledgeable with the drink menu, which is important to me. :) My girls ordered the brocoli/ham omlette and the chicken, which both seemed to enjoy. I ordered the grilled cheese and tomato soup. PERFECTION for a cold winter day. Will totally be back."

"This was my this third time at Sam's and it just keeps getting better. The first time I went to Sam's was for my husband's birthday, and we were so impressed with the seafood that we decided to go back for our anniversary. Our second visit was just as impressive if not more, so we decided it would be perfect for Valentine's Day. Our most recent visit on Valentine's Day was perfect! The lighting and romantic ambiance was perfect for Valentine's Day. In addition to the great environment, the food was excellent as well.
I truly believe Sam's has the best seafood in Boston. I had the Branzino with Farro, cauliflower and mushrooms, and my husband had the hot smoked Salmon with spinach risotto and both were AMAZING! I highly recommend Sam"

"The food at Sam's was very good. I had venison, and my girlfriend had chicken. Both dishes were very balanced, the portion size was good and it was reasonably priced. The only issues I had were minor. The two pieces of venison on my plate were served at different temperatures, one more medium, the other medium rare (Both were delicious). The server seemed to be slightly aloof, just passing by tables and not really being outwardly cheerful. It could have just been an off night. The live music was great, and I would definitely go back."

"we love sam's-it's one of our faves, excellent service, drinks and atmosphere. i do think the menu needs a change. we had a hard time deciding on choices, because the menu (brunch) hasn't changed in awhile, it seems. i think more variety and selection would be a welcomed addition. we will keep coming as we love the staff, atmosphere and drinks, but i hope we'll see changes to the menu soon."

"My husband and I recently dined at Sam's before heading over to the ICA for an event. While it might be hard to find if you are not familiar with the area and feel comfortable navigating all of the building and development of the waterfront, Sam's felt like an oasis once you arrived. With three walls of glass and situated at the water's edge, the views of the city lit up fostered an immediate intimacy from any table. The food was worthy of the setting too. We started with oysters and spicy hummus. I was reluctant to order the hummus but was pleasantly surprised by the smoothness and spicy bite. The warm spinach salad was delicious."
