For over 10 years, Chef Tim Love’s Lonesome Dove Western Bistro has been among Fort Worth’s top restaurant destinations. "The food and service here was fantastic! Our waiter offered to make a special appetizer plate that allowed the 4 of us to taste everything, and the Kangaroo nachos and Elk Sliders were everything we'd hoped for! Highly recommend ordering the Jalapeno Margarita to accompany them, if you don't mind spicy! The poblano pepper and snapper entrees were exceptional; the duck and quail were good, but perhaps just not my taste. The noise level, however, was such that the couple next to me celebrating an anniversary had to keep saying "What did you say?" to their spouse, and we found the noise level challenging for conversation as well. On Friday night, patrons were dressed in everything from blue jeans to suits; ladies mostly wore dresses."

"The entire experience at the Lonesome Dove was exceptional. With reservations we were seated immediately, and the staff brought thier A game. The menu offered a wonderful assortment of appetizers, and when we had a hard time deciding, a mixed plate was offered. The main course selections were diverse and we selected the signature garlic stuffed sirloin. With the old saying that everything is bigger in Texas, we were not disappointed. The steak was cut and cooked to perfection, an admirable task considering the thickness of the steak. Overall, our first trip to Texas was highlighted by outstanding food and service."

"Had the signature rattlesnake sausage and elk sliders. The sausage was nice sausage and didn't taste weird as I thought it might. The elk was wonderful. Had the waygu skirt steak which was very flavorful and tender, considering it was skirt, but being waygu more than compensated. All the food was perfectly seasoned, very impressive. Always wanted to eat at Tim Love's after seeing him on tv. The food he made always looked good and sounded good. It did not disappoint. Thanks, Tim!

"I have been before and was impressed. This time fell flat on its face. The menu was exciting. I think some oversight is in order to improve food quality coming out of the kitchen. Some items were too salty and some were tepid. Nothing was perfect. Everything just needs a little tweaking and some love from the boss. The worst part of the experience was the main server. He was flat out rude. I have experienced poor service, but never rude service. Dad asked jokingly if he could remember the order after placing it. His response definitely put us in our place. He treated us like bumpkins that had never been to a nice restaurant. Most weekends I eat at a better joint than this. Left me with the impression of a bratty graduate student."

"This was such am amazing place to spend our annversary! The food was incredible, well made, and full of flavor. The atmosphere was exactly what we were looking for, romantic and intimate. I love how it doesn't seat many people, this keeps it very private feeling. The waiter was so kind and so helpful to us in choosing our menu since it was our first time. Since we do not drink and they wanted to offer us a champagne for our anniversary but we declined, they offered us a free dessert! I have already told four people about this place and they are planning to make reservations to come enjoy! Thank you so much for the experience this place provided for my husband and I on our date night out!"

"The food fell far short of its price.. I ordered the chile relleno stuffed with sweet potato, which was so spicy it was inedible (and I like spicy food). I gave it to my father-in-law because he likes even spicier food than I do, and he too could not eat it. My husband ordered he elk sirloin, and the portion was quite literally the same as the appetizers. Thankfully both of my parents-in-law oredered the wyagu skirt steak, which ended up being appropriately sized and delicious, so we shared those. We split banana pudding and bread pudding for dessert: the banana pudding was nothing special and the bread pudding was covered in liquor to be a flambé, which the waiter was unable to light - the alchohol made it quite unappetizing."

"The food and service were wonderful, as well as the atmosphere. The steaks were cooked perfectly and were very tender. Their signature butter lettuce salad was to die for as was the chocolate cake for desert. I had only one gripe. They have a nice wine list and the wine I ordered paired nicely with my meal, but I was disappointed to note that they served all the wine (white and red) in the same type of glass. It was the type of wine glass you would expect to see at a chain restaurant, not a restaurant of this quality, so a miss for me."

"Visited for Lunch. Party of 12 next to us. Really loud and hard to hear each other. Meatloaf was too smooth in texture but flavored well. Reasonably priced for lunch...atmosphere does not warrant dinner prices. Hot bloody Mary delicious but $10.00? Service was great, professional. Flan for dessert is to die for. No Valet parking at lunch."

Menu variety has something for everyone. Unbelievable appetizers. Unmatched attention to quality and detail in every dish from simple to extravagant.
For true "carnivores" don't pass up the Beef Tenderloin, medium rare, fork tender and literally melts in your mouth.

"This was our first trip to Lonesome Dove as well as the Stockyards. The food was outstanding; no complaints whatsoever. The only [constructive] criticism I would suggest is that our server was a little too matter of fact for our taste. We routinely dine at places with similar price points (our Lonesome Dove meal was $210.00) in Austin and NYC, and we typically expect & receive service that is a little more personable. That said, the food was outstanding and the next time we're in Ft. Worth, we will be eating at Lonesome Dove."

"Lonesome Dove has some very good wild game items. For appetizers we split the Kangaroos carpaccio nachos, the wild boar ribs and the elk sausage sliders. I loved the nachos and the sliders, but the ribs were too sweet for my taste. I had the garlic stuffed tenderloin as my entree, my son had the duck, and my husband had the striped bass en papillotte. My tenderloin was very good -- perfectly cooked. My son loved his duck breast, although he was less fulsome in his praise of the accompanying fowl sausage. My husband found the striped bass to be not so good. This is the type of place I would take visitors from out of town or come for a special occasion, the food is interesting and good, but not something I would eat as regular fare."

"The rabbit/rattlesnake sausage was excellent, could have consumed much more of this dish. The kangaroo nachos did not enjoy due to the "texture" of the meat in my mouth. The taste was alright, just could not get over the texture. Wife and I both enjoyed our individual soups, roasted squash and the green pork stew were both delightful. Both enjoyed the main courses, the garlic stuffed tenderloin melted in my mouth. For desert we shared the chocolate cake with ancho pepper, warmes back of your throat going down. Best part were the cocktails, no sparing the liquor here. The margarita and bloody mary both were very yummy."

"I took my wife there for Valentine Lunch and it was disappointing. Food was ok but nothing special. Server was nice but not really great.Server did not even offer dessert after we were done with the entree but brought check!!!I have heard a lot about this restaurant and chef Tim Love but I don't think I will go back.His reputation is may be a little exaggerate."
