Welcome to D.O.C Wine Bar - Lombard. We are elated to serve you as your neighborhood wine bar and bistro. We believe that wine is the "nectar of the gods" and should be enjoyed by all, novices and connoisseurs alike.
While we take what we do seriously, first and foremost, we believe drinking wine should be fun. It is our goal to offer a large variety of wine spanning the globe without any of the factors that may cause intimidation and hinder your enjoyment.
Established in 1963 and implemented in 1966, the Denominazione di Origine Controllata (DOC) ("Controlled Denomination of Origin") is Italy's equivalent to France's APPELLATION D'ORIGINE CONTRÔLÉE. DOC's are defined by the geographic area of production for each wine, the varieties that can be used, the minimum alcohol content, the maximum yield, and the specifications for aging.
"I love D.O.C. My favorite dish is with the fish tacos. Their fish tacos are the best I've ever eaten, by a landslide. Nothing else comes close. It's the sauce, the fresh, well-seasoned tilapia, and the shredded vegetables that create this divine meal. I've also tasted the burger (with the most outstanding grilled onions ever), the salmon cooked on a cedar plank, the varied bruschetta, and cheeses. Everything is wonderful. Plus, the wine selection is awesome. The ambience is warm, romantic, and fun. There's a fireplace in the party room and outdoor seating for those warm summer days. And the service is excellent. You really can't go wrong here."

"Good service isn't easy to find and the waitress (Morgan) we had was GREAT! She was very helpful when we informed her of what kind of wine each person liked and brought us each a glass based on our preference. Wine was delicious, I did the Peach and Apricot Wine flight and we ended up getting a bottle of Malbec that the waitress had suggested. Food was great too, I had the Brussel Sprout flat bread, few at the table had the mini sliders, another had the braised short rib tacos and all of us truly enjoyed our food! Prices are a little expensive but well worth it for the food and service we got!"

"We have been to DOC several times last year and always enjoyed our experience. This visit was disappointing. They changed the menu and substituted cheaper foods. Most of the cheeses/meats are now domestic and the menu items look like a chain family restaurant. At a wine bar, one wants great food to go along with expensive wines."

"Our food was not cooked consistently throughout. There were undercooked and cold sections and overlooked crispy sections in the same dish. Also, the service was terrible. My plate was still half way full and my fork was in my hand when the requests to take my plate began. I was asked if I was finished at least five times when it was clear I was still eating."

"I've always enjoyed a great glass of wine here. They have a great variety and have a staff that is very knowledgeable. Whether you want a Pinot grigio or merlot they have plenty of options that fit what you're looking for. If you're feeling adventurous they can also recommend something you would never have thought of for yourself that's off the beaten path but that you'll leave talking about.
I love the charcuterie they have fun and interesting selections. And the bread sticks and homemade jams are equally as delicious.
Overall a great place to have a light dinner and great wine. The ambiance is perfect for a romantic date!"

"Make sure to get a reservation as the place gets packed and the wait can easily be an hour on a Friday night. We really enjoyed the ricotta cheese, pistachio, and honey bruschetta. Also enjoyed the sliders and ended up doing a mix and match (one pork, one mini burger, and one crab cake)."

"Usually have real good experiences at DOC. This time the server was somewhat aloof and not as accomodating as they've been in the past. Also, as a vegan, he really wasn't very helpful or open to helping me find something that could potentially modified or off the menu."

"the food was really disappointing. the appetizers we ordered (which was a meat/cheese combo) was good. but our main courses were far from it. the waiter recommended the short ribs. they were overcooked & charred on the outside & very chewy on the inside - i had to send them back. the new ones they brought weren't great, but they were edible. my husband had fish tacos, which we mediocre at best. and our daughter's chicken tenders in her kids meal were so over cooked they were hard for me to cut into small pieces with my knife, so it wasn't surprising that she didn't like them.the wine however, was good. but i've been to many other places that have both good wine options & good food, so will be spending my money elsewhere in the f"

"If you're looking for Europe-inspired food at reasonable prices, this is the place to go. The ingredients are fresh and unique and tasty. Have been numerous times and will continue to go back. Whether it's for a sandwich, a chicken or fish entree, a big salad, flatbread, cheese, desserts...the food is delicious and worth the calories of every bite!"

"This is one of my favorite restaurants in all of the suburbs. The food is excellent and reasonably priced, which can be a hard combination to find. The wine list is amazing and they offer daily deals to make it possible to try different wines and not break the bank. Mondays they have half off of their bottles of wine under $100. Tuesdays they have half off glasses of wine $15 and under. Tuesdays are our favorite night to go because we can try different wines and not spend a ton of money. Sundays they have half off wine flights. There are many wine events hosted at DOC, including diners and tastings. Michael, the manager, is always welcoming and willing to answer Any questions you may have about wine. Obviously we love this place!"

"This was our second time at this DOC location. For some reason this time didn't seem quite as good as the first. Don't get me wrong, we still enjoyed our meal a lot, but something didn't seem up to the level of our first visit. We both order the same things we did the first time because we liked them so much. My wife had the crab cakes and I had the fish tacos...maybe it was the familiarity, but there didn't seem to be same "wow" factor.
I'm sure we'll be back in the near future, but we'll make sure to order new dishes this time; hopefully that'll put DOC back in the same light it was in after our first visit."

"We ordered a small butcher's plate, the Brussels sprouts salad, and the steak and blue cheese flatbread pizza. The food and wine were very good. The butcher's plate is a very fun option, and the marinated feta and the mushroom bruschetta were excellent. The ambiance was perfect for a date. We are still a little hung up on the pricing, though. The portions are definitely on the small side, and I don't really know that the food was delicious enough to justify the cost. We will probably go back for another date, though, just not frequently."

"Outstanding food that comprised both small plates and dinner items. The appetizers were delicious including the bacon-wrapped dates and blue cheese/chips. The tuna sliders had just the write seasonings and were cooked perfect. The wine list at DOC is super as you would expect....many selections by the glass and the bottle listing had some very notable wines from across the world. Sat in the bar at first and the bartenders could not be more helpful, pleasant and accommodating. Waiter was very outgoing, knew the menu solidly and provided excellent service throughout the meal."

"I love this place! Had a great dinner with my wife. Started with a nice bottle of red (a blend that I wish I remembered the name of). Nice bottle, good price. The meat and cheese platter is always nice. Lots of choices. We split Short Ribs and mostaccioli with red sauce and sausage. Great. We always get the big cookie with ice cream for dessert. Service was great. Not too rushed, not too slow. The waiter was friendly and helpful with the wine and let us have our time. (It's our night away from the kids so we take our time!) We'll be back."
