Inspired by the food, wine, people, and beauty of Italy’s Piemonte region, Alba offers exquisite regional Italian cooking. Chef Alexander Feldman, who trained in Italy and worked with some of America’s finest chefs, displays a deft touch with the best seasonal ingredients available. Alex's brother Matthew directs the service staff with a hospitality driven style of casual fine dining. The wine list offers a broad selection from Italy and California, with a strong emphasis on Piemonte and Tuscany. The dining room is warmly lit with antique European furniture and light fixtures. Excellent acoustics allow for easy and comfortable conversation. A spacious patio with fireplace and fountain is a delightful setting for outdoor dining during the warmer months. The cozy bar features comfortable booths and a library of Italian food, wine, and travel books. A visit to Alba will provide you with many of the sensory pleasures of a trip to Piemonte and northern Italy.

"Alba consistently exceeds my expectations. The chef always offers new twists on Italian classics, so the meal is pleasing like comfort food but never boring or dated. My starter salad was perfect - fresh greens with just the right amount of dressing. Entrée, green lasagna Bolognese, was delicious."

"After reading the reviews for Alba we went for 5280 week expecting a great meal. Sadly all of us were underwhelmed by the food. All the selections were regular items from the menu. The quality of the food was not worth what they charge."

"Alba's food is innovative and delicious. The serving staff was attentive and friendly. Our meal was somewhat rushed -- no relaxing between courses -- despite the fact that the restaurant was not very busy at the time. We had only tried Alba's once before and were very disappointed but tried it again as a foodie friend kept recommending it. We were happy that we had given it another chance. The restaurant could use some interior design help as the dining area is just one big, cavernous box -- okay for a bistro dinner but unsuitable for a special occasion or romantic meal. We tried the Restaurant Week dinner and thought the selection was excellent -- we will definitely be back to try the regular menu."

"Great service, superb meal, wonderful wines and a delightfully romantic atmosphere. I had a pasta dish, called agnolotti del plin, that was amazing. We had two wine flights of wines that were new to us, perfect with our meal and a great way to taste. One of the best dining experiences in Boulder."

"Just a square room with a lot of tables crammed into it. This was Valentines Day for us, first time here and we were elbow to elbow with people at tables to our IMMEDIATE left and right. Nothing special and the food was ok but nothing to get excited about....in fact, the main appetizer of meats, cheeses, olives, and pate all tasted pretty poor."

"Don't get the wine pairing with the tasting menu--you get the same amount of wine that you get with the wine flight, but it costs more than $10 over the price of the wine flight! Way overpriced. But otherwise, food and wine were wonderful. Service was friendly and very professional, but sometimes less than seamless; wine pairings didn't always arrive with the course they were meant to go with."

"Unfortunately, our visit was not all that enjoyable. It was OK at best. We chose the Valentine's Day chef's tasting menu and that may have been a mistake. The kitchen appeared to be having problems keeping up and as a result the quality of the food and service seemed to suffer. Unfortunate, since we had heard good things about Alba.

I should mention that the wine list, the Sommelier and his recommendation were all exceptional!"

"The wine list was wonderful. Our first and second course were spectacular. We started with truffled gorgonzola and proscuitto di Parma, then shared a small portion of risotto. My dining companion agrees that it was some of the best tasting risotto we've ever had. The main course was slightly disappointing. He had the open faced lasagna and I had the scallops with pancetta. As soon as I saw the dish, I noticed that it was swimming (drowning, rather) in sauce. Perhaps they could just tone down the sauce a bit and the dish would have be fine.
I'm nervous for Alba, to be quite honest, because they look like they need more guests. I think it's a great restaurant overall and would hate to see it close like some other Boulder places have recently"

"All in all good. One noteable disappoinment is the pear gorgonzola appetizer portion size was about 1/4 the size as before no joke. Wine selection and help choosing were amzing."

"Alba continues to be my favorite place to dine in Boulder. Fresh food imaginatively prepared is the star at every meal. The sea bass cooked in parchment paper is the best fish I've ever tasted anywhere."

"Alba specializes in Northern Italian cuizine. The preparation and presentation indicated the chef's eye towards details. Certainly a level, or two, above the typical italian chain restraunt fare. Our server, Donny, was especially helpful in recommending selections from the extensive menu, organized by Small Bites, Antipasti, Primi and Secondi, very much like the menu offerings we found during our visit to Italy several years ago. The lasagna was especially good, prepared with a seasoned beef and pork blend and fresh pasta, unlike any lasagna you'd expect or experienced. Although quiet the night we dined, the large, main dining room could be noisy on busy nights."

"We really enjoyed the ambiance of Alba, but found the food very pricey for what you get. I understand it's a recession but 4 ravioli for $12 wasn't what we expected, even if they were very good. However, the $7 salad was very large. Value seems varible depending on what you order. When going out for a nicer dinner, we'll probably go somewhere where our money goes further right now. Also, our server was OK but not what would be expected at a restaurant this nice. She acted more like the order taker you would find at a lesser-expensive restaurant rather than a "consultant" style server typical of a nicer restaurant - helping with wine choices, etc."

"Another great meal at Alba, I dined with a large group. They were very efficient, everything came out quickly, there was no problem accommodating a large table, the service was great. The food was exquisite, it was like a trip to Italy. The ravioli were fantastic. The goat stew will bring us back."

"We loved the food. It had all the authentic flavors of the Piedmont and Bologna, which is what we were looking for. Unfortunately, the ambience was just a bit "off." Too bright, too sterile, and didn't feel as special as the food tasted. Our servers were attentive and had great suggestions. We'll definitely go back, but hope that the setting will improve to compare to the wonderful food."

"Wonderful food and service. We've been there twice, and every dish was perfectly prepared and presented. This is not your "chicken marsala" Italian restaurant--the menu includes regionally authentic dishes you wouldn't expect but which will bring a smile to your face. The prices are reasonable enough to put it into your regular eating-out rotation."

"Fantastic food, Alba is a true Italian restaurant, great service too. Ivy! was knowledgeable about the food, and acted as our personal guide through an unconventional menu. Drink the Produttori Babaresco Langhe Nebbiolo. It is the best deal in wine. We will return soon."
