"The service in the bar while we waited for our table never materialized (they appeared short handed), but after that the evening was fantastic. We were provided a private room with a view which I had requested but did not expect for a party of 8. Victor, our waiter was awesome - and incredibly patient with us - it seems we were the last ones in the dining room when we left. The food was beautiful and delicious. It was meant to be a memorable evening celebrating a landmark - and it was spectacular."

"I would have given a much higher rating if not for the embarrasing lack of service. There was one waiter for the entire downstairs area. He apologized profusely and worked very, very hard to serve everyone - a nearly imposible task! Evidently, two of the wait staff did not show up to work on this Saturday night. The manager and two hostesses who stood at the front desk had to be asked to lend a hand. The waiter was overwhelmed with no apparent help. A very frustrating part of an otherwise perfect evening!"

"Arrived early to enjoy the scenic view of downtown from Mt. Adams and was seated in the bar area. What a beautiful bar room with the gigantic chandelier in the middle of the room. Our table was ready but we were given the option of the table in the main dining area or any table we wanted in the bar area. We chose the bar and set at table for two next to the window overlooking the city. As the sunset and the lights began to come on downtown, it was really nice. The food/service couldn't have been better. I sent word to the chef that our steaks were absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. Yes, it's a little expensive but when it's your anniversary, it doesn't matter. Highly recommended for your next big occassion."

"My wife and I dined here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. I was a bit concerned after reading several reviews that described the steakhouse as being in disrepair. What we found was a beautiful dining room with a beautiful view of he city. The food was excellent and the service was top notch. The Jumbo Shrimp were a bit small, but everything was cooked to perfection and the presentations were top notch. We will definitely return."

"This is my new favorite restaurant for special occasions. It is a little pricey, but worth every penny. The service is outstanding and the food was perfection. I had the blackened salmon and it was delicious. I also tasted my date's blackened ribeye steak and it was juicy and flavorful. My sautéed spinach was seasoned perfectly and the baked potato was large and baked to perfection. There are plenty of seats with breath-taking views. This restaurant is at the top of my list of places to eat and take out-of-town guests."

"Tremendous view of Cincinnati and river. Known for its steaks and did not disappoint. Steak was tender and perfect medium. Chef special for the night included a seafood addition to the steak and risotto was excellent quality, which as you may know, may be difficuilt to accomplish. Bar was large wityh view and nightly trio entertainment on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday my night). Victor was a great server and attentive to my needs. Only drawback is the use of small wine glass for the reds. Not enough to allow wine to breath, but still a good wine."

"Food was so-so. My friend actually sent his creme brulee back because the sugar was not hardened on top. My salmon was very "fishy" and undercooked. My dessert was very ordinary. There were crumbs on the tablecloth when we sat down. They just need to pay more attn here and there."

"As on previous visits, food was very good. Service was good, but perhaps not as outgoing or engaging as in previous years -- but still good service!
There was a group of 10-15 men who were having a party, so occassionally it was loud or disruptive to couples who were trying to enjoy a quiet, special night out.
View is fantastic, so this remains a good place to make a good impression, or celebrate a special event.
Bar had live music, and great view of Cincy Reds Friday night fireworks."

"The food was wonderful, when we finally got it. Our reservations were at 8:30, although we didn't get to the table until 8:45/8:50. We ordered about 9, but didn't actually get our food until almost 10pm. The waiter was nice enough to give us some free soup since the entrees were taking so long, but still, seem excessive for it to take an hour to get our food."

"Oh dear- the Celestial is getting by on their name I'm afraid. The view is the best, service was just okay. Not what you'd expect from the Celestial. Our dinner was good, however; presentation was lacking. Not even a garnish on the plate with my filet. It looked rather naked! Items on the website menu are nonexistent on the actual menu, that was disappointing. A family came in shortly after we did with a number of small children that were rather loud and distracting. I can't imagine ever bring our children to such a place when they were small. The truth is, there are better restaurants serving better food and giving better service. We will likely not return. It's too expensive to go just for that view....."

"I recently ate at the Celestial Steakhouse with my boyfriend for an anniversary. Not only did we have an incredible view at dinner, but we were able to enjoy the Cincinnati Reds fireworks after each homerun. It was pretty cool. Our waiter was very generous and made sure we were happy at all times throughout the night. We had a wonderful experience and will definitely be coming back again for dinner."

"The food was outstanding, aside from the fact that my wife and I got each others' steaks. I got her well-done, and she got my medium and was rather grossed out. It was no trouble to switch plates.
We both ordered the same steaks, by the way, so it would have been easy to make that mistake. Our waiter was very nice, professional, and even brought my wife a free piece of the most delicious cake ever for her birthday at no charge. Very generous and thoughtful.
I will definitely return."

"The view here is amazing. The food is good, but there are better steakhouses in the city. Service on this trip was slow. There was only one server covering the area and he seemed to be stretched thin.

It seems like over-salting has become a trend at restaurants and Celestial, while not headlong into the trend, has ventured into the realm of adding salt when less would be desirable. Overall, the steaks are flavorful and the lamb makes for a great choice."

"Overall the food was very good, but nothing was worthy of a "WOW". It all tasted really good the wife and I both a=had the Celestial Oscar it was cooked exactly as asked (Med Rare). None of the food was hot, not cold but just below what would be reasonably expected for straight out of the Kitchen. The view is terrific! The service was fine, our waiter neglected to tell us that they did not have two of the starters. My first choice was the Foie Gras, strike one then the another with shrimp, strike two, I settled with the lobster Bisque, it was very tasty but once again not very hot."

"You cannot beat the view... that is for sure. This is the place for a romantic gathering or to impress someone who is visiting Cincinnati for the first time. "Returned here after having a bad experience to give it another shot. Gathered a group of 12 for a birthday party. Made the reservation well in advance but yet the restaurant was not staffed to accommodate the customers for the evening. The poor server had no help. We were seated and had to passed out our own menus that we found stacked on a side table. Drinks took 30 minutes to be ordered and served. Food was mostly adequate but the manager never came by to ask how the evening was going or offer assistance to the server. The birthday boy ordered his steak medium and it came out burnt/dry and he needed steak sauce to eat it."

"Overall, the food was very good but rather expensive. This was a 3 to 4 star restaurant with 4 to 5 star prices. The service was fair. Our waitress was very friendly but obviously inexperienced. She would have been a good waitress at Applebees, but at these prices more is expected. The restaurant does have a great view and nice ambiance, but if you want a steak, you'd be better off going to Mortons or any one of Ruby's restaurants."

"Very disappointed in my experience here. Food was mediocre at best, my steak was overcooked, the service was slow for most of the night... I expect more from a steakhouse, especially at this price point. The best part of the restaurant is the atmosphere and view, but this doesn't make up for the rest of it."

"Been to many of the "Best" steakhouses throughout the Midwest and I will have to tell you the Celestial is worth it. Spectacular views of Downtown Cincy and the food was as I'd expected and maybe even better. Service was excellent and prompt."

"We had heard good things, but had never tried it ourselves so we thought we'd give it a chance. The first reaction was the place needed to be updated. Very dark and drab, with some odd wood paneling on the walls. However, the view is absolutely amazing. The restaurant was very quiet, because for 7:30pm on a Saturday it was not busy. To start, the waiter (who was slow) informs us that they are out of lamb, oysters on the half shell, and another item I cannot remember. The lobster bisque was good, but the wedge salad was not since they served nothing but the white inner core of an iceberg head. The steaks, however, were good and cooked perfectly. Overall it's a place to check out, but I think there are better steakhouses in the city."

"The view is spectacular. Go for a drink at bar only. The meal was horrible. My steak was a poor cut of meat with lots of fat and connective tissue. My husbands duck tasted like a hot dog with hash. The service was terrible. It took 1 1/2 hours to get our meals and the restaurant was not busy. We will not go back, because it was also very expensive."

"The view was the only thing we enjoyed, and after about 5 minutes we were over it. It was not at all busy, yet it took 2 1/2 hours for dinner that normally takes about an hour and a half. The food was mediocre and the service was terrible. Not only did we each only get offered one beverage but when he brought back the check for us to sign he asked US for a pen since he'd given his last out. (There were 4 other tables in the restaurant) It is overpriced for the quality and service. We will NOT be returning."

"The facilities are wonderful with a impressive view of the city. We started out in the bar. The bartender was very nice and did a good job but she was by herself and the service was so slow. The price was way too high for the one drink my wife and I had. We then went to our table after waiting a long time to pay the bar tab. The table was very nice with the best view of the city. Unfortunately the service was slow. He came to remove my old drink glass and I told him to leave it as it was the only water I had. We ordered the large shrimp appitizer and ve ever had.was totally disapointed. It was like they were fake with an odd texture and bad taste. They were long stips and unlike any shrimp I had. The meal had way too much salt."

"The servers were friendly, but refills were as requested. Couldn't always see a server, and often had to wait for one to emerge. First time there, so don't know if it was an off night, or just a bad time to be there. 5PM Sunday evening. Really, didn't expect to need to ask for drink refills, or additional bread. A little disappointed at the service for how much it costs here. Don't know if this gets another try for our annual family treat. Will likely go elsewhere next time."

"Great place to take out-of-town business folks. The view, service, restaurant and menu are phenomenal. Everyone at our table started with a delicious lobster bisque, and then ordered steak for entrees. Steaks were perfectly cooked and seasoned. The service followed suit, as the wait staff was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. A glass of water was never empty. The view of downtown is one of the best from any restaurant in the city; located in Mt Adams, just above the east side of downtown. Beautiful view of the river, bridges, Northern KY, the stadiums, P&G HQ, the new Great American building, and the Cincinnati skyline. I would definitely recommend this restaurant."

"This has got to be the finest restaurant we've been to. Tim, our waiter was exceptional. He made us feel like we were the only people in the place. He catered to our every whim. The food... OMG. The steaks were perfect! The wine he chose for us perfect! I couldn't believe the view. My wife and I love Cincinnati, but you haven't seen Cincinnati until you see it from the Celestial Restaurant!!! My wife and I agreed that this is our "Special occasion Place"... and more. Thanks Tim, and The Celestial, for a fabulous Anniversary dinner."

"The Ribeye was amazing, but slightly over cooked and my wifes filet was amazing, but slightly undercooked. I think the kitchen got the cooking instructions swapped. Jason, our server, was awesome and the young girl that filled our water glasses was very polite and nice to talk to. Overall our experience was wonderful. We will return for future special occasions."

"We had not been to The Celestial for 15 years and thought Valentines Day would be a nice time to go back. Overall, we were extremely disappointed with our experience. Of course, the Celestial has one of the best views in the city but we were seated very early at 5:00 and were given a table that had a fair view, but was right next to the staging table where food comes out of the kitchen. So our view was interrupted by waiters every 30-60 seconds.

They offered a prix fixe four course meal and it was very inconsistent. I would have expected better food for $55/person. Highlights of the food were the Lobster Bisque, Tiramasu. Lowlights were filet and tuna main courses, pork appetizer. I have more to write, but am limited by # of chara"
