The Fish Market
Serving the freshest and finest seafood in San Diego. Our harbor side restaurant located on San Diego bay offers multiple dining venues and amazing views. We have outside patio dining, outside cocktail area, enclosed patio dining and banquet facilities. We also have an Oyster Bar, full service bar and a Sushi Bar. We even have a retail market for fresh fish and all of our menu items are available for take out. We print our menus twice daily so that we may offer only the best. Mesquite charbroiled seafood, pastas, salads, specialties, clams & oysters, crab cakes, sushi and much more. You must try our famous Dungeness Crab Cioppino and signature Smoked Fish Sampler. Start your meal off with our exceptional sourdough bread and plan to finish your meal with a slice of house made key lime pie, creme brulee, or chocolate indulgence. We can accommodate groups of up to 50 in our private banquet room.

"My wife and I visited The Fish Market on the recommendation on a friend. Our table was ready the minute we arrived on an early Friday evening. Glad we had reservation because the place was hopping at 6:30. Understandable because the fish was superb. Alaskan Halibut can't be beat. Dessert was equally tasty. Good choice for great food and wide water views. Make reservations on weekend nights if you want to avoid a wait though."

"I accompanied my wife on a business trip to San Diego, and one of my tasks was to find good places to eat. The Fish Market is in all of the travel guides and websites, was within walking distance from our hotel, and since we both love seafood it was an obvious choice.
The setting is beautiful and right on the water. The menu was varied and easy to read, and the food was very good. Pricing was reasonable.
The only thing that surprised me was how very busy the whole place was. It is not a place to go have a quiet, relaxed dinner. There are tables full of people having a good time, and the staff are always on the move. That being said, I would certainly look forward to eating there again."

"We ate downstairs in the Fish Market which is actually different than the pricier upstairs "Top of the Market" restaurant. We had made reservations so did not have long to wait for a table overlooking the bay. The restaurant has old fishing photos everywhere which were fun to look at and added to the atmosphere. The seafood was excellent and very fresh. And there is actually a fish market on site."

"We loved the view from our table of the harbor. The we had the ceviche and the east coast clam bake of which both were very good and we would order them again. One of our party ordered the sliders and was very impressed with them. Service was prompt and accomodating with all our questions about the menu. When me mentioned to friends we went to the Fish Market they agreed it was a very nice restaurant. The only challenge was the parking."

"Took my Mother to the Fish Market for lunch on her birthday this past weekend. The hostess was great and even greeted my Mother with, "Happy Birthday, Mom."
We enjoyed our view of the Bay and Coronado from our window seats in the covered patio- watched seals play in the water along with kids fishing. Restaurant was busy but not too crowded and service was outstanding. Food tasted fresh, not at all salty or overly spiced- a nice, healthy lunch with good portions."

The experience was outstanding. There is one issue that should be noted. There are 2 restaurants here. FishMarket and Top of the Market. Top of the Market is upstairs, more upscale, more expensive, less crowed etc. We went to Top of the market, so this would apply to that part of the establishment. The service was great, they provided excellent service, they were very busy because it was good friday, i like the valet, because its very busy down there...and at the lower level restaurant. doing valet and eating on the top floor is worth it for a special occasion, i would do lunch downstairs with friends or co-workers but not for anniversary."

"The Fish Market has a great location and offers great views of the harbor. There is a good selection of fresh fish plus enough other foods to be a match for most people. Food can vary from good to great, even within a dish. The East Coast Clam Bake has a great sauce, nice clams and muscles, but the lobster was overcooked."

"As out-of-towners we were told that the Fish Market was the place to take friends and family for special occasions. It did not disappoint. I had requested in my Open Table reservation a "view table" and we were seated with a great view of the bay, where while dining we could watch dolphins and sailboats and a lovely sunset. Our server was gracious and helpful, and the food came out quickly and was very good. The house white wine proved to be great value. All-in-all a convivial and lovely evening."

"If you are looking for good seafood, this probably isn't your best choice. If you want a pretty view of the water and sunset, I would recommend the fish market. It may have just been the day but the food came out cold like it had been sitting there for awhile. Underwhelming food and didn't see much of the server although he was friendly. The sweet potato fries were good. I'd go back for the view but not for food."

"One plate, fish under-cooked according to friend.
No forks at the table. Salad brought to our table, waitress left, and we had to flag down our waitress and request forks.
We requested more bread at the suggestion of our waitress, and no bread delivered. Again, we had to flag down our waitress and remind her that we did not receive our request.
First experience at this restaurant - no plans to return."

"We sat at the bar when we first arrived, I noticed the bartender using his bare hands to fill up his olive stock, once he finished he wiped his hands in a towel he had tucked behind his belt, he then started using the touchscreen screen register then served drinks. I would have thought better handling of his hands would have been in order."

"I love the Fish Market. I have never been to the one in San Diego so I wanted to give it a try. The one is San Jose is wonderful.
We were seated outside, which would have given us a view of the ocean, but it was night time. The service was good.
We started with Oysters Rockefeller. YUMMMMM!!!! My favorite.
I ordered the cioppino, and my date had the yellowtail tuna seared. I loved mine. It came with chunky pieces of tomato with an assortment of fish. It can get messy.
I've had better seared tuna. The cut was too thin. The tomato side was good.
At the end, you can write a postcard, with Fish Market, that they mail out for free. That was fun. So my bf and I wrote us a postcard to have delivered about our time in SD at the Fish"

"Extensive menu. Food was good not great. I had to send my plate back the first time as everything was lukewarm. Nice interior with great view of harbor and Coronado across the bay. Still , it was not good enough to make us want to go back and will try waterside dining somewhere else next time."

"We were going to all have clam chowder and seafood salad but decided to change to the Ono Fish tacos called "Crispy Fish Tacos" on the menu and was highly recommended by the server. We assumed it meant crispy tortillas rather than the traditional soft tortillas. We received deep fried ono, which was a disappointment to all."

"One of our favorite San Diego restaurants. Great food and service. There are other The Fish Markets but this one is on the top of our list because of the view of the harbor. Get there just before sunset and ask for a table with a view. You won't want to leave...."

"The Fish Market never disappoints, their quality reputation is built on years of providing fresh, delicious seafood. Once again, a great, innovative martini, followed by succulent oysters and my favorite clam chowder. For entrees, mahi mahi that transcended all others. "Not a bad place for being as touristy as it is. Food is pretty good, service okay, and prices are appropriate. Also, portions are pretty good size. The location and view of the harbor is probably the biggest plus the restaurant has. I think that the restaurant just above this place - Top of the Market - would probably be better as it seems more up-scale and gourmet oriented. They have separate kitchens."

"The food at the Fish Market was well-prepared and delicious. There was not too much salt or fat in the food and I thought it was prepared in a healthy way. Even though it was a very busy evening, the service was speedy and efficient. We had a window table with a view of the bay and enjoyed the atmosphere. "The calamari appetizer and crab/shrimp appetizer were both very good and very generous. Several in our party had the swordfish and thought it was excellent. The shrimp scampi was also delicious. All the entrees were very generously sized. The key lime pie was a little tart for our tastes and the crust on the creme brulee was a little burned, so the desserts were not our favorite. Overall it was a great dinner and we would go back again."
