"Poor service almost spoiled the evening. On a positive note the food was very good, we complimented the chefs on our way out. Our waiter was nonexistent for most of the service. We waited more than 30 min after being seated for the waiter to show up to take our drink order. Thank goodness for the bartender who stepped in to bring our wine and salad and manager who brought the entrees. We caught our waiter in mid service to request something but he never brought it. He finally showed up 30 minutes after we finished dinner to bring the check. We left the waiter a minimal tip as a message and stopped by the bar on the way out to leave the real tip with the bartender who whet out of his was to make sure we were served."

"When we get a hankering for excellent Italian food we head for Il Fornaio in the Galleria Shopping Center. As always, the menu offered dishes from various regions of Italy with wines to match. Prices are commensurate with quality. We've never been disappointed with this restaurant when it comes to food and service. This time we made the mistake of booking the night before Mother's Day and apparently lots of other people had the same idea, so the place was jumping. Unfortunately the noise level detracted from what otherwise would have been an outstanding dining experience."

"Il Fornaio is always good. And for Mothers Day it is exceptional. Pretty inside and in the covered patio area, and the wait staff is prompt and caring. They also had a special Brunch menu that was lovely and affordable. We enjoyed a glass of wine from a nice list of options, and the food menu is extensive. Nice desserts as well. Something for the whole family for Mothers Day."

"I loved my first trip to this restaurant. My girlfriend and I went there for a just-because occasion and had a great date-night. Sat near the kitchen and was not overwhelmed by activity or the heat from grills/ovens/etc. I enjoyed my seared tenderloin with a carpaccio appetizer while my gf loved her butternut squash ravioli with an app of bruschetta. Would recommend for any date night."

"I took a woman there on our first date. I took a chance because I have never been there before. It turned out great. The ambience was perfect, we shared a nice bottle of wine and the waiter gave us just the right amount of attention without interrupting us too much. Although neither one of us finished our food, the food was great; even on the following day. Lol. We are going on our second date tonight! Highly recommend this restaurant."

"We came to this restaurant for a business dinner. Beautiful decor with high ceilings, tall curtains and lovely tables. Easily a sophisticated and romantic setting. Great wine list and Excellent Service! I only marked the food between good to great only because the chicken dish I had was a little too spicy. Still quite flavorful and worth enjoying. There were several large groups and even a party on the patio outside yet there was not a lot of noise. Will go back again."

"We had dinner on a Sunday night and the restaurant was very busy. We were seated next to the entrance to the outside patio and there was a large birthday party outside, so the noise level was pretty high. The wait staff was very busy, so we didn't get as much attention as I might have preferred, but clarly the service we did get was good. However, the food was EXCELLENT and more than made up for any other minor issues we might have had. We don't eat here often, but everytime we do we always say we need to come back more often."

"The location in the restaurant was perfect. There was a bridal shower outside, but they were at the other end of the patio so the traffic was nil by us. It was very pleasant. The noise level was okay. We could hear each other's conversations in a normal tone. We spent 3-1/2 hours and the service was very attentive. Our table was in the curtained area by the front entrance to the restaurant. The waiter was superb. He waited on us hand and foot. That is why we have family gatherings at this particular restaurant due to the impeccable service and atmosphere."

"We were 3 who had reservations for Easter evening at 6:00 p.m. We were seated immediately, food and service were good. Only complaint was that I had asked our waiter for a separate check and he forgot that. Made it a bit awkward for me as I was the single and wanted and expected to pay for myself. Once the husband of the other woman had the check in his hand he wouldn't let me pay my share. Dang! Now I have to figure a way to make it up to them. Would have made it a lot easier if our waiter had remembered my request."

"This was my first visit to Il Fornaio Roseville. I usually visit Il Fornaio Sacramento, but since I live a bit closer to Roseville, I decided to try this Il Fornaio. I was not disappointed. The food was very good, although our waitress was a bit slow. In her defense, the restaurant was busy, and the number of wait staff appeared to be only adequate. The kitchen may also have been short staffed. However, everything was manageable and the experience was enjoyable. I would recommend Il Fornaio Roseville for an up scale dining experience."

"A very good time in all respects..food, service, and quality for price. A little too loud when we arrived. At that hour there were still a few shoppers with children eating. Things did quiet down some after about an hour. Being as it in such close proximity to the mall, shoppers in shorts and sweat shirts were eating also. A later seating would be more appropriate for some. Overall a good experience, this is the third year in a row for our anniversary, but we may try some where else next year.

"We were seated in a tiny-tiny table when there were lots of other large tables available. This was a Thursday evening (early) and not at all crowded. The food was very high priced compared to value and quality. We both ordered a pasta dish and mine had so many chunks of canned tomatoes that I had to pick them out. My husband's dish was supposed to be "authentic Sicilian" pasta and it was over spiced and covered with too much sauce."

"The bread and desert were excellent. The ravioli were good but the dish that I had was not a quality dish. The reduction was over done which over powered the flavor of the sauce. The potatoes were not salted which left them blanned. The spinach tasted as if they had been prepared in a pan that had just been used for another dish which left them with an odd taste. I did not eat the potatoes or the spinach. I brought them home and used the potatoes the next day with breakfast but the spinach was not edible. For the price of my steak dinner, it was not worth it. I should have sent it back."

"Wonderful & delicious food! Best broccoli/potato soup ever.
Receptionist who showed us to table not polite when we asked to move to a little bigger table not far. She was not gracious - bit of a scowl. We must have inconvenienced her....never a word taking us to new table. My husband was the first to notice her attitude & he usually never says anything.
Turned out a fabulous anniversary dinner with the NICEST waiter!!!! 10 stars for him. He brought us a delicious Spinoni for dessert compliments of il Fornaio!"

"Nice atmosphere - energetic but not so loud you can't hear the other person. The service was wonderful, attentive without hovering. The waiter recommended a cabernet that was so good, i wish i remembered the name of it. Loved our food. The minestrone soup was delicious - I would go back just for that and bread! I had the risotto with beef tips, mushrooms and sundried tomatoes special. It was excellent. My husband had a lovely dinner salad with just the perfect amount of tasty pomegranate dressing and for the entree he had the cannelloni, which was also excellent. It was topped with a red sauce which was very fresh and a cream sauce which was rich but very good. We shared the spumoni gelato for dessert and loved it."

"The food was good. For some reason when I came in, just before noon on Sunday, that sat everyone in the overflow area, not the main dining area. Out there the seats are like Patio seats and are VERY uncomfortable. I am a large man and that makes them even more uncomfortable. If we had sit in the main dining room, where NO ONE was seated it would have been much more comfortable, since those chairs have pads and do not have arm rest, so wide bodies have more room.
The room was very cold. The waitress looked like she was FREEZING and when I mentioned it to her she said,"no, it is okay."
The waitress arm was in a large wrist bandage and she had difficulty doing minor parts of her job. When she placed the coffee on the table I was so afraid sh"

"I hadn't been to this restraunt in a while. My husband picked it for our early valentines dinner. It was a wonderful experience. I had one others specials which was a gnocchi. it was so tender and tasty. I could have had it for my main course. But the salmon was equally tasty. I would highly recommend this restraunt"

"I haven't been to this Il Fornaio in several years as usually go to Sacramento location. Food and service in Roseville as good as downtown. I prefer Sacramento location because I like the ambience there, kind of 'citified', close to the Capitol, etc. That's not even a complaint though considering the food and service in both places are excellent."

"It is sad that Il Fornaio has downgraded the quality of its food to such an extent. I suppose it is necessary to stay in business in this tight economy, but when there are not enough potatoes on the plate to even touch each other, it's pretty dismal. I was looking forward to a wonderful birthday brunch - Eggs Benedict and a Bloody Mary. In the past this has been one of my favorite meals there. As I said, there were about 8 tiny pieces of potato - each lonely piece sitting in an sea of empty plate. If they even remembered to put any sauce on my eggs, it was hard to tell. There was no flavor, and I think the bread they were on was left over from the previous day. It's still a lovely room, and the wait service is friendly and attentive."
