"Overall, I was disappointed. The prices are equivalent to Ruth's Chris, but the steaks definitely were not.
The wine was excellent, as was the asparagus. But my $56 steak was not prepared correctly (it was cooked over too cool of a grill, so the outside was gray instead of properly charred and the meat was dried) and the meat itself did not have exceptional flavor."

"My third visit in two months. Previous two visits were five stars. This time our server made a couple slips, that were gracefully handled. My lobster, utterly superb on my first two visits, came like warmed over sushi which just doesn't work with lobster for me. I took several bites and decided it was a complete waste and asked the waiter to take it back to the cook for proper cooking. He was very gracious about it and when he brought it back it was much better but still undercooked. The second slip was forgetting to bring an order of mushrooms for my wife's steak. He was so gracious about both slips that I decided to offer him my usual 20% tip, but when the bill showed up on my credit card, the tip was not included! I'm coming back."

We got 3 plates of onion rings for being open table members. They were the best.
Our steaks were unbelievable and melted in your mouth. Everyone enjoyed their meals immensely.
My brother thought his steak was a little too pink but didn't want to be rude however our waiter could tell he wasn't sure about about it and immediately took it to have it cooked longer. A couple of minutes later it was returned perfect. After dinner he brought me a cup of coffee on the house because they didn't serve the drink I was looking for. You could tell that he was a professional and had many years of experience.
We paid a lot for this meal and we were impressed."

"RingSide is an old school steak house. They know how to make it the right way! Are you on a diet? Don't like fat on your meat? Don't go here then, or you might discover what you've been missing in all that extreme lean flavorless stuff you've been eating.

"I had flower sent so that they would be on the table. It was our 35th Wedding Anniversary. We had a gift certificate that we used so we ordered the best of everything. What made the experience very special was the service we received. We received a complementary appetizer. The orders wee taken, wine was poured. I sat next to my wife in the secluded leather booth. The dinners were served. All the food was excellently prepared. Then we had a complimentary dessert. All this was wonderful. Did I say the service was excellent? Thank you. Dutch"

One of us had the Filet Mignon and the other had the Steelhead special--both were perfectly prepared and tasted just right. Our server, Shannon, did an outstanding job. "We went for a birthday celebration. Originally, we expected 5, but only 4 showed up.
I appreciate that our waiter paced our meal very well (nice and leisurely so that we could catch up), but some aspects of the service were a little too casual, such as refills on soft drinks. Water service was handled by the a secondary person on the waitstaff and was excellent. None of us were drinking alcohol that night.
Overall, a very good experience. We will definitely be back."

"This restaurant is a Portland classic. It was a wonderful experience when my wife and I first ate here thirty years ago and it hasn't changed at all. Some may not like the fact that the dining room is completely windowless. However, its Pacific Northwest feeling, rich wood interior and large blazing fireplace, make it a place in which it is easy to forget the rainy day that might be outside. I didn't have to request anything because our waiter, John, was always able to anticipate our needs. The steaks were perfect (after all, it is a steak house). If my review convinces you to give them a try, you won't be disappointed."

"I don't usually do fancy dining and I made reservations online so it was super convenient. When we arrived, we got a free appetizer of onion rings for reserving the table through Open Table. Awesome little perk! The steak was to die for, we had the porterhouse medium rare with garlic mashed potatoes, asparagus, and a salad. Very good service and the best steak I have ever eaten. "We were celebrating a birthday with several other people. We have had many great experiences in the past and were looking forward to your menu. Unfortunately, we were
extremely disappointed by the quality of the meat. Every steak we ordered lacked flavor, sizzle and visual appeal. They honestly looked and tasted like a preformed cut of meat just out of a long freezer "sleep". To add to our displeasure, the service and the prices were out of line with our expectations."

"This was the first time we had been there, and we were very impressed. We were celebrating a birthday, and it was the perfect place to go. Everyone was very pleased with the food and the service. The ambiance was especially enjoyable. Also, it was nice to have convenient parking."

"My parents loved the eastside Ringside and I used to go with them when I visited Portland back in the 1970's and 80's.
My wife and I have now moved back to Oregon after spending 28 years at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland Ohio. We now live in Cannon Beach and will be frequent visitors to Portland.
After nearly 30 years away from Portland, I was amazed that the Ringside has remained the same when we had dinner there on March 4, 2013. We had an exceptionally good evening.
Keep it the same Ringside- you're doing a great job!"

"The steak was very tender and flavorful. However, for $37 it should've come with veggies. We had to order the asparagus for $9 for about a dozen. The garlic mashed potatoes were so-so. The steelhead was very good but the wild rice was a little too salty. The warm bread was very good and the onion rings were great. Our server was very good and helpful. Ambience was nice, average noise level, and could be more romantic. The absence of window made me a little claustrophobic. Overall, it was a great experience but it will not be our favorite restaurant for our anniversary. In fact, it's probably our first and last time there."

"We normally patronize the West-side location; this was our first visit to the East-side restaurant. It seemed the food was not quite as good and the service was a bit slower than we'd experienced across the river. Our server was quite friendly, but she brought a requested condiment when the onion rings were almost gone, and almost forgot a drink order entirely. I had the butterscotch creme brulee--I don't recommend it. It lacked a real butterscotch flavor, so it was a bit disappointing. It just seems that when you spend a decent amount of money on your meal--it should be REALLY good--not just OK."

"Unfortunately, my prime rib was really tough! At the price, I would think one would be able to cut it with a fork, but the knife even had some problems. However, I have eaten at Ringside several times in the past and I do believe that this was an aberration. And I loved the fresh grated horseradish!"

"I've been at your restaurant for lunch, never for dinner...was looking forward to it very much. It was everything we expected, and more. We wanted to celebrate a late Valentine's Day and my Art career going national. Paul was a wonderful waiter...made our celebration very special and magical... and the dinner was amazing. We will come back for every special occasion that we can!"

"The food and service at Ringside has always been great. There is just enough background noise to keep it from feeling stuffy and to keep me from feeling embarrassed if my toddler forgets to use her inside voice. My steak was delicious as was the recommended wine pairing. Well worth the money for a special night out."
