In a comfortable setting, just across the street from the historic Uptown Theater in Cleveland Park, Ripple offers a complete dining experience, with a focus on sustainability, organic and locally-acquired produce, and a good time. We are proud to support local farmers and co-ops in our mission to bring the best products to the table. In addition, we have an extensive wine, beer and cocktail menu, to complete any meal. Above all, we believe in hospitality and hope that everyone who dines with us will feel comfortable and enjoy their time with us. We truly are a place to eat, drink, and gather.

"My fiance have gone to Ripple several times for dessert, but finally got there for dinner. The food is amazing, portions are a great size and they have a great variety based on local and seasonal goods. Also, try the charcuterie, as there is a woman with a meat slicer who sits in the front!"

"I greatly enjoyed the seasonal variety of the menu at Ripple, which changes frequently. The seafood dishes were especially good. They have a terrific cocktail list - unique, with house-made ingredients but not frou-frou. There was also a stellar beer list and one of the best wine lists that I have seen in a DC restaurant of this price range (with several varieties available by the glass). Our server was attentive and very knowledgeable about the menu. Good desserts and interesting home-made ice cream too!"

"We've seen some write-ups and the buzz about the restaurant and were looking forward to trying it. Overall we enjoyed the food, service, and lovely atmosphere. We appreciate that they offer a selection of cheeses, which is a nice touch, and an extensive wine list. Through our many travels and dining experiences, we know that there are plenty of reasonably priced good wines available, and enjoy a bottle with nearly every dinner. But, as a neighborhood restaurant in Cleveland Park, we feel they should offer at least a few selections under $40. Again, overall it was very nice, but the wine prices are a bit high."

"Wanted to like Ripple bc seemed to have all the elements of a farm friendly comfortable neighborhood gem but found the menu interesting to read but difficult to order from. Server did not listen and erred on dish recommendations, order accuracy, dish timing, drink attention, you name it. Spoiled the meal. Prob won't go back. Best salad was enjoyable, Halibut was way way overdone and dry and on a strange too heavy for spring concoction of limas and shallots. Hummus comes in a strange little jar, cheeses were ok, butterscotch dessert was highlight."

"The new chef keeps to the spirit that we love at Ripple, but has given the main courses a more solid footing. Previously, we tended to stick to the smaller dishes and shared charcuterie, but this time we found the main dishes also inviting, striking a balance between innovation and recognizable influences. This remains a favourite restaurant for us when we want a fine meal with original tastes and interesting wine possibilities, but without heaviness."

"We always have a wonderful time at Ripple, and this past Saturday night was no different. More than anything else - the food, the wine, the atmosphere - I'm always so impressed with the knowledge of the wait staff. They all have such a deep understanding of everything that goes into each dish, and which wines go best with which dish. It makes the dining experience that much more easy and enjoyable."

"The may be the most overlooked fine restaurant in DC. Its name doe not to prepare you for such ambitious and sophisticated cooking. And the ambiance is more down-scale than the cooking. But all in all, certainly as good or better than its much better-known neighbor, Palena Cafe. Well worth a trip across town."

"We were excited to try Ripple after seeing the place in August after our son moved to Woodley Park. The service especially our waiter Ari was excellent as was the cheese plate. The food was mostly tasty but the pasta dishes were app sizes at main course prices. We are not big eaters. But too precious is just that. If the pasta fishes were just 50% larger our guests would have been sated
I had the Rockfish described as the more richly prepared of the fish dishes. A little boring as far as the sauce. For me this dish was ample in size

"My partner and I have been big fans of this neighborhood spot in years past and had the opportunity to dine here tonight; we were not disappointed in the least. Bright distinct flavors punctuated menu and challenging dishes like octopus showcased the kitchen's expertise. Service was engaging, knowledgable, concise and went beyond the call. "Given the rave reviews this restaurant has received, I was disappointed. The service was slow but friendly. We were warned that the "snacks" were too small for three to share as an appetizer so we were very surprised by the tiny size of the tuna appetizer that we ordered instead. When we requested bread, we were told that they had run out. The waiter brought crackers instead - tasty but not what we were looking for. The entrees (fish, spaghetti, and steak) were flavorful and prepared nicely - but portions were small. I went home hungry."

"Truly remarkable service. Staff at Ripple have exceptional knowledge and communicate it/make excellent suggestions if you don't know what to order. During our experience, after an unfortunate "miss" where our appetizers were not served, the "miss" was more than made up for when the bill came. I've been coming here for a while, and will continue to do so. The place hasn't skipped a beat with the new chef, and the service is still outstanding."

"We went to Ripple to celebrate my birthday, and it was great. The restaurant had some lovely decor-the red ripples in the wall to the black and white photos set the scene very well, clean and easy. The service was impeccable, our waiter was very kind and attentive, always coming and checking up on us, very informative of the menu and the seasonal changes that occur with the menu. As for the food, it was delicious. The sunchoke soup, and the risotto was finger-licking good. I would definetly come back here for another taste of this lovely place."

"Visitors to DC, we were very excited to try Ripple based on the good things we had heard and the promising menu of local/organic and adventurous sounding plates. Sadly, it did not live up to our excitement or expectations.
The menu was small, but I had high hopes for the creative-sounding options. However, my first and second choices were both "out of stock" for the evening, so I had to settle for a salad and the sea bass - both of which were sized for a three year old.
The cheeses we had ordered as a starter arrived in teeny-tiny little blocks with a smear of honey and a teensy dollop of fruit chutney; the hummus arrived without any cracker, chip, or bread to dip; and the salad was bitter, bland, and unexciting."

"The new chef has created an excellent menu. The cured meats and cheeses remain which is good as they are wonderful. We had an excellent mushroom risotto. The desserts are to die for. We wanted a particular drink and the wait staff ran down the road to the liquor store to get the mixer the bartender needed."

"A fair experience overall. Had not been there and the reviews focused in good food. I'd describe the food as over focused on achieving some kind of sculptural appearance on the plate and not enough on the food itself. I had the steak which was cut into dry rectangular chunks and stacked up on the plate like craft supplies. Surrounded by dried schmears of green and yellow sauces(?). It looked kind of interesting. But not like food. And not very tasty. Same verdict from others at our table. Portions were small. My salad had a live slug in it. They were apologetic and comped the entire table dessert for that which was nice. Wait staff was very good. Overall, they need to focus on better, tastier food prep. They need new chef"

"The food was deliciously prepared but some of the accompaniments were not always spot on like the side of the grilled octopus. The scallop dish and the striped bass were very good but the salad greens lacked dressing.

"Our first time at Ripple and I would say it was a great experience. The staff and the service is outstanding. Drinks are made with scientific precision and their wine list is filled with small batch wineries that the average wine drinker will have never heard of – including me. Fortunately the staff is very knowledgeable and after a few questions, Matthew was able to recommend a bottle of Pinot Noir that was well suited to our palate. The charcuterie plate was fantastic and is a must have. The appetizer and dinner plate selections are limited and a bit adventurous, which means that it could be a hit or miss depending on your taste. I would definitely recommend asking a lot of questions before ordering your dinner. Overall I think this was"

"I appreciated the focus on innovative and different flavors and combinations. Unfortunately, it came across as trying too hard, as the flavors often didn't work well. Even trying to anticipate what you could expect based on the descriptions in the menu was difficult. The house-made venison salumi was so earthy and "dank" that we left most of it sit there. The sprouted grains that came with my sturgeon were also very earthy and overwhelmed/distracted from everything else. On the other hand, my wife had a sweet potato-filled pasta appetizer that was absolutely wonderful. Based on the reviews, my expectations were much higher so I came away disappointed, especially for the cost. The space was fun and our server was very pleasant."

"It's not every day that one is seated next to three Cabinet secretaries, but I must say that the security detail made us feel like we were VERY safe. Despite the slight distraction, the pre-fixe Valentine's Eve menu was a nice sampling of Ripple's standard fare, along with some interesting twists. It must be said that Ripple balances seafood, beef,pork,and poultry flawlessly & consistently, which is somewhat rare in DC. (gonna miss Chef Logan Cox!) Standouts included the kale/oyster/salmon roe salad, roasted scallops, & venison, only to be surpassed by the wine parings - Schrock Weissburgunder & Joguet "chene vert" cabernet franc, especially! A nice touch was a small packet of extra sweets, upon departure.
Going again? OF COURSE!!"
