"It's amazing how hard it is to find decent Chinese good in Palo Alto. This is good, although you still need to travel to San Francisco is you want the real thing. Good dim sum at lunch, made to order so it isn't melting away on steam carts. For dinner, the fish and seafood dishes are the stand outs. Vegetables are crazy expensive, for no reason I can tell. It's a very nice dining room with excellent service. All around, a pleasant if slightly pricey experience."

"I sense a decline in quality here, accompanied by price increases that are not called for with this cuisine. A small example is relatively tiny bowls of rice for $2....and another $2 for more. Pot stickers have usually been good, but getting them hot is not usual. The overall atmosphere is stinginess.......overpriced wine and appetizers etc."

"Good Chinese food, but substantially more expensive than most, and portions are not that large. One of the few restaurants that still charges for refill of soda and ice tea, not at all common anymore. Also surprised that automatically added a tip for party of six, when one was a two month old infant. Also, they could not explain how the tip was calculated, seems the wait person took 20% of something and rounded up. For the price, i would rather go to Tamarine, for better quality food, more elegant surroundings, and same price."

"Food taste good and well presented, although some dishes are a little on a salty side, like the chicken wings. Servers are very attentive. We came for lunch. Dim Sum orders were served quickly."

"We had another great dinner at Tai Pan. If you're looking for authentic Chinese food in the Palo Alto area, this is one of the best. In addition to a great menu, the place allows $15 corkage, which can come in handy if you've got a big group. We brought some Champagne to go along with our chicken potstickers, Peking duck, firecracker chicken, and fish in spicy Sichuan sauce.
Not to mention, our waiter was gracious, kept our bubbly on ice, and even cracked a few jokes about the spicy peppers in our dishes.
Overall, a wonderful meal at reasonable prices for downtown PA."

"Overall, we were happy with our visit to Taipan. This time the food was fairly good. However, the food has been inconsistent. The previous time the food was substandard (a bit too much grease and salt on the food)...too bad...we were trying to impress the grandparents of chinese descent."
