Situated in the heart of the Financial District, Vertical is located on the mezzanine level of Canada's tallest building, First Canadian Place. Vertical features a 75 seat dining room, two private dining rooms and a separate bar|lounge featuring a stunning 40-foot sandstone bar top. The gorgeous patio overlooks the King Street parkette and waterfall.
The ingredient-driven seasonal menus of Chef Giacomo Pasquini draw inspiration from the diverse regions of Italy. Fresh handmade pasta, whole grilled fish, and naturally raised local beef are specialties of Vertical. The wine list is a compilation of passionate producers who we feel grow varietals that best express their region. The list is focused in Italy, complemented by the New World regions of Canada, Australia, Argentina, California and New Zealand.
Complimentary parking for dinner guests is available in First Canadian Place after 5pm. Take the elevator to the 'mezzanine level'.
"I took two friends from out of town - who travel extensively - for dinner at Vertical. The food and ambience were both world class. The chef has a mastery of pasta and risotto, and the wine list was presented in a very knowledgable manner. All three din.ers would not only return again to Vertical but will recommend it to friends either living in or visiting Toronto. The free parking is an added bonus"

"Don't let the financial district deter you from having dinner here, our dinner was exceptional. It was on a Friday night, so the restaurant area was almost empty, but the bar & patio were rocking. So was the food, the lobster pasta was done perfectly el dente and very tasty. The orato and branzino fish mains, were both done perfectly, again very tasty. Wine list is varied and not over-priced. Returning to try the other pastas."

"Having 37 years experience in the hospitality industry as a Executive Chef and F&B Manager I would highly recommend Vertical. We were a party of six and from start to finish our dining experience was excellent. We will not hesitate to go back."

"I have been to Vertical many times over the years, but would say that in the past 6 to 9 months the menu has improved dramatically. Service, ambiance, and the finishes at Vertical have always been excellent, but now the menu has caught up nicely and is verging on being the highlight. Going there for lunch today, and although it will be my third time at Vertical in as many days, I am looking forward to it!"

"We opted to eat at Vertical before Muse concert at ACC and gave ourselves an hour-and-a-half for a nice dinner. Although starters were a bit slow to come out, everything else arrived promptly. I had a lovely beet salad and white tuna tartar, and my husband had excellent beef carpaccio with black truffle foam (delicious!), and veal pappardelle that he enjoyed very much. Cheese plate for dessert was a great finish as 2 out of 3 cheeses were superb. Meanwhile I indulged in a glass of 1998 port accompanied by a truffle. We really liked that the restaurant was divided into sections with different noise/music levels so we appreciated being in a quiet space that was nicely decorated and well laid out. A free parking was a bonus."

"We are from Ottawa and this was our 3rd visit to Vertical. The food is definately worth the 5 hour drive!! The ravioli with parsnip and chickpeas was incredible. The whole branzino impeccably prepared My husband had a lovely kale and brussel sprout salad and then a pasta with sausage that was delicious. Shared an ethereal cheesecake for dessert. Excellent list of wines by the glass. Service was warm and informative. Would vote for this chef for Top Chef Canada!!"

"Several restaurants have occupied this spacious yet tucked away spot in First Canadian Place but Vertical seems to have really hit the mark for the business audience they principally serve in the Toronto Financial district. The menu offers inspired choices and my selection of the Chestnut Rabbit pasta proved deliciously rewarding. The service was efficient and while respectful of business lunch time constraints also allowed my associate and I to enjoy a leisurely lunch, concluding with an artistically finished cappuccino. I hope Vertical has a very long run here!"

"We went to Vertical for Valentine's day dinner, and the food was decent, yet service was terrible. Because we did not order any wine or appetizer, there is a noticeable difference in the attentiveness we received from the server than the table beside us. We weren't given any bread while we wait for our food while the table beside us got plenty. No one came by to see how we are doing, the worst is we did not even get a thank you at all. We would never recommend this restaurant to anyone strictly because of the poor service."
