Reviewers and patrons consistently give high marks to this cozy, bi-level restaurant & lounge. Highly Zagat rated, 1 Darbar is a superb choice for Indian food with great ambiance and service. A lavish $10.95 lunch buffet with new and delicious dishes served everyday. Dinner from $10 and up. We look forward to seeing you soon.
"I love Indian food, and sadly I feel this wasn't the best Indian food I've had, not really close. It's a shame too because everything else was great. The restaurant itself is lovely, the staff were highly attentive, service very good, it was just the food that was lacking. If you just want indian food and don't eat if often (so you've no high bench mark) then this is a good place to go. It ticks all the boxes, except the food...."

"The food makes you forget the laid back customer service. They would rather you settle for the buffet but fight for the menu food! Especially the Lamb Chops Tandoori."

"My apt is right near a huge Indian restaurant neighborhood but I still prefer to go to Darbar, which has MUCH nicer decor, is MUCH more relaxing, has MUCH more courteous service than most, and yes the food is reliably good. Have brought various people here and they are all happy. Always look forward to Darbar."

"Went there on a first date and it was a rewarding experience. The food was excellent and the waiters were very attentive to our needs. Service was excellent. Was a bit quiet for a Saturday night but definitely the place to be for a romantic date."

"The wait staff is very attentive and jolly. The food is outstanding, and the wait staff made excellent wine recommendations. I brought a friend from out of town for her first visit to Darbar and she was delighted with the food, service and ambiance. The restaurant staff never rushes you, and you are always treated as if you are visiting their home. I go back regularly."

"Felt like authentic Indian food. Service was quite attentive. Food was pretty good and the portions were the perfect size: not too much and not too little."

"Nice selection for Restaurant week. Appetizers and desserts were outstanding. I was expecting much higher entree prices for the regular menu. Very reasonable for very good food."

"Had reservations on what turned out to be a wintry, snowy night. We were gien the options of eating upstairs or down (the bar); opted for upstairs. Nice ambiance - exposed brick , subdued lighting, subtle decor. Drinks were excellent ( martini and mango lassi). Mulligitawny soup one of the best I've had. Very long wait for entrees(tandoori chicken, sagwalla chicken). We did complain about the wait and were told the tandoori dish takes longer. Unfortunately, we weren't told this until the enrees arrived. Both, however were excellent; well above average, as was the garlic naan. We said we were too full for desert. Nevertheless we were brought a bowl of superb rice pudding - on the house as an apology for the long wait. Nice touch!"
