"First time going to this restaurant. Went out for a family dinner and glad we came here. Each course was good and we had a great server. Only thing was that we were by a very loud group of diners next to us. But the other parts of the restaurant seemed to have decent noise levels. Would definitely be on my list of good Italian restaurants."

"Celebrated Mother's Day with family at Portofino's. Everyone really enjoyed the delicious menu items and excellent service. Mom was quite impressed and really enjoyed her meal. I can't say enough about our night out. We're looking forward to returning, perhaps for lunch, and Portofino's is now at the top of our list for affordable fine dining. The atmosphere is refined, yet relaxed, making for a very enjoyable experience. Five stars all around."

"I had a delicious Bellini to whet my apatite I followed with tempora zuchanni with a honey sauce, it was wonderful. My wife has sausage meatballs that she quite enjoyed. I move on to a pasta dish with Eggplant and heirloom tomatoes. It was marvelous. My wife had halibut that she quite enjoyed. Our desserts were wonderful. We had one of the best Tiramasu we tried and also a short cake with strawberry rhubarb coils and a little marscapone icing. It was wonderful. The bottle of wine we has has enjoyable and reasonably priced. We definitive plan to return."

"Portofino remains our favorite neighborhood Italian restaurant. Every month their specials feature a particular section of Italy. They quite adept at finding unusual Italian Wines that are terrific and very reasonably priced. Michael, the proprietor runs a great restaurant. The outdoor seating is a wonderful place to enjoy the Mussels."

"Apparently the owner is more interested in quantity (meaning groups) than quality as far as service. We were given a table near a loud and noisey group of women. We were refused a table on the sundeck.We were told a group was coming. We never saw the group arrive. There were not enough waiters. The service was sporadic because there were two groups. We were thinking of ordering desert because it was my husband's birthday. The service was so slow all we could think about was paying the check and leaving. The entire situation left a bad taste in our mouths. We will never dine at this restaurant again."

"Porotfino is always excellent but this visit was particularly noteworthy. The deck is open for outdoor dining and it was a lovely Spring day. I had the trout and my guest had the shrimp risotto. Both dishes were excellent. The sides were a perfect accompaniment. Portions were comfortable. Satifying but neither skimpy nor gross. Portofino is a dependable, wonderful choice for lunch."

"This is one of our favorite neighborhood restaurants, along with Anis. The outdoor patio is great in warm weather and seems a little more relaxed than the dining rooms indoors. The vibe inside is a little more formal, but still a place you can show up in jeans and maybe a sport jacket.
The food is good Italian fare with interesting specials and a monthly focus on one region of Italy.
The service was excellent and very tolerant of my somewhat demanding mother-in-law who insisted on sending back her Veal Scallopine because she did not care for the polenta, and who angrily separated out her veal from her pasta and broccolini. She does not like her portions infringing on each other on the plate, it seems. C'est la vie!"

"We had a nice dinner with friends on the outdoor terrace. We started with 2 special appetizers (tuna and homemade mozzarella) and 1 appetizer off the menu (veal meatballs). The first two were not very good, and the latter was okay, but lacked a lot of flavor. I tried a special wine they were offering from the Puglia region of Italy which was also not impressive although the server raved about it. I have had some good wines from Puglia, but this was not one of them.
Moving on to dinner, we had a delicious Barbera d'Alba and all of us really loved our entrees ranging from veal to beef to pasta.
We had a great time despite the inconsistency of the food. One suggestion might be to stick to the menu items as opposed to the specials."

"My wife had eaten here before and enjoyed both meal and ambience. We happened to go during Buckhead Restaurant week this time, and we ordered the 25.00 prix fixe menu. Fried artichokes were over-breaded, too lemony and heavy. Both our pastas were over cooked and my wife's pasta sauce was laced with a citrusy something that was overpowering. Service was rushed and indifferent. Wine list is impressive in its range of Italian regional wines and our desserts were both good. Our overall impression, however, was not positive, but maybe the key is to avoid restaurant week."

"What a great experience. My first visit to Portofino wont be my last. The food was excellent. A very nice wine list with plenty of options. The waitor made some nice recomendations and was very well versed on both food and wine. Great seating as well. It was cold so we didnt get to sit outside but the patio is very nice."

"I ordered the Veal which I was disappointed in. There were 3 small pieces of veal that were somewhat tough. It was certainly not worth the price. The appetizer and salad were good. I would not order this dish again."

"Portofino is my go-to bistro for good food, friendly service, good value and consistency. In many years of eating there with and without friends, I have always been more than satisfied. Like most restaurants, it is noisy. All of the options on this site for describing the level of noise are too favorable to any restaurant--quiet, moderate, energetic-- but all six diners commented on the negative aspect of too much noise. Loud is the description I would give it. Americans simply need to drop their voices. Any restaurant can make that happen. That said, I still like Portofino very much."

"The food was REALLY good. We have been here several times and are never disappointed. Our server, however, was terrible. She was very unattentive. We waited a long time for her to take drink orders, then appetizer orders, which we ended up ordering our entrees at the same time because it took her so long. We were seated for 50 minutes before any bread was brought to our table. I was very disappointed to say the least."
