"Even though we moved out of the neighborhood, we try to come back for special occasions. Food is always amazing, love the entertaining list of specials. Even though busy for Father's Day, service was quick, table was ready and they were great about bringing food out early for our toddler."

"This is one of the best Italian restaurants in NYC. Always highly rated by ZAGAT's. Besides the menu, your waiter has an extensive list of the daily choices so listen carefully - ever had ostrich, they have it and it's delicious. In season right now is soft shelled crabs - they were yummy. Owner and chef Rocco socializes in the front of the restaurant and his maître de Vinny always stops by at your table whether a regular like we are or a brand new patron. Manhattan type service but without the Manhattan prices."

"We had some of the best pasta of our lives there. Do not miss the cheese stuffed ravioli (Ravioli Ricchi).

"We always have a great time at Trattoria L'Incontro. The room is pretty and warm. The service is over the top. Everyone is very warm and courteous and so very attentive.
The pasta dishes are out of this world.....always an interesting choice...always unusual....always delicious!
The owner, Rocco, is a dominant and welcoming presence...greeting guests, chatting, and making sure all is up to his standards.

"What a great find and just a short block from the Subway's last stop at Ditmars.

"Food and service are top notch & worthy of all the acclaim they receive. Tiny drawback is the loud main dining room which makes it a challenge to hear all the details of the lengthy list of specials the wait staff impressively recite. Decor is a bit generic for such a special place, would be nice if it felt more intimate and cozy. I chose chicken paillard, crusted with crushed pistachios, almonds and walnuts,topped with a salad of chopped avocado, tomato & onion, it was nearly literally "bursting" with flavor. My husband's short ribs w/polenta was"very good" but he was jealous of my dinner! Dessert of pistachio creme brulee was simply delicious. A quick table side chat with chef Rocco was nice addition to the evening too."

"This is my all-time favorite "special occasion" restaurant. What makes this restaurant unique, is the food is always consistent, the service impeccible, they always make you feel special, never rushed. I've been there many times, and never disappointed. We had the lobster tails (special) which were to die for, served with delicious mashed potatoes and string beans which were cooked to perfection. Appetizers we had my favorite, stuffed artichoke, with enough delicious sauce to sop up with fresh bread; we also had the seasonal stuffed zucchini flowers. Dessert did not disappoint either: semi fredo and lemon tart with steaming hot capuccino."

"Once again this could be one of the best restaurants in the city. Vinnie makes you feel right at home the service is second to none and the food never disappoints you. The Specials are what really makes this place they are awesome and the variety is so big if you have been there you know what I mean if not get there and try it. "This restaurant is one of the best I have been to in a long time. From start to finish it was great the food and service were outstanding. The specials that they had were great along with a fabulous wine list. Our waiter and bus boys gave us world class service. You will not be disappointed here try it and you will be back for more. They also have valet parking."

"Every time we go to L'Incontro we feel like we are a part of the family. Our daughters (one infant, one toddler) are so taken care of that we almost feel left out. The food is beyond excellent (and that includes the memories of our Italy trip less than a year ago). Never order off the menu, always listen for the specials and eat them the way the chef recommends.
There isn't an Italian restaurant outside of Italy that I can recommend more than L'Incontro."

"I wanted an impressive first date, so I researched and asked lots of questions. Many recommendations and great reviews for this place. Made reservations on line, mentioned it was a first date, "something romantic.". When I confirmed the reservation with the hostess, she took note of the first date comment and moved our table "further back, away from the front." Wasn't sure what that meant, having never been there, but sounded like what I wanted. Despite traffic and distance, we still managed to arrive a half hour early. No problem. They seated us immediately. More specials than we could remember, our waiter has a very impressive memory! The food, fantastic, service was lovely, wonderful first date! Expensive, but worth it! I left a big tip!"

"Fresh, innovative takes on classic Italian dishes. It's the blending of surprising ingredients that makes the food so exciting here: cod in a pistachio and vanilla sauce, for example.
Neighborhood places like this, with lost of regulars, can sometimes make you feel like an unwelcome outsider, but at L'incontro they are always glad to see everyone, the chef is out and about, and your waiters do their best to make you happy.
