"At our last visit, the kitchen was clearly overwhelmed. The staff was attentive, apologetic, and adjusted our bill to make up for delays, which is great, but I'd prefer to pay full price for a wonderful dining experience.
I had the duck, which arrived cold, and was otherwise underwhelming. My wife's meal was better, but not remarkable (or memorable, I can't remember what it was).
We'll probably go back when it's not "Restaurant Week" to see if it was only that they were over capacity, but there are other restaurants in town that are reliably good, even when busy."

"We had a wonderful evening there during Restaurant Week--my husband took advantage of the 3-part special--clam chowder soup, zuchinni gnocchi and key lime pie--all three of which I tried and they were delicious. I had a yummy, tangy ceasar salad and the tagliatelle which was good but a little bland. The place was hopping--one of the first beautiful summer nights on a college graduation weekend--a little loud for our taste. The service was attentive and friendly."

"Ordered two apps (clam chowder, calamari), two entrees (steak & frites, tagliatelli), two desserts (flan, key lime pie), two beers and martini and the bill was just over a $100. For the quality and freshness of the food, I would have paid twice as much. Each bite was delicious, and if I could, I would have snuck the left over garlic aeoli from the french fries home in my purse."

"Very nice decoration and ambience. The presentation on the food was great. Make sure to get a reservation, as it's a small place, and was full almost the entire time we were there. The maitre d' and wait staff were very courteous, though it seemed like the waiters had too many tables to cover at times."

"We had the Restaurant week menu, which included (for two people:
Salad Cremont Goat Cheese (with an apple tart, apple jam and cranberry crackers) Salmon (with a potato pancake and arugula) Duck Breast (with brussel sprouts, squash and chard) Strawberries, strawberry ice cream, shortbread and whipped cream Chocolate Brownie (with homemade whipped cream and ice cream)
Everything was amazing and cooked perfectly. I can't remember the last time I had duck cooked that well. It's easily the best meal we've had in Burlington.
We also had some cocktails, which were creative and delicious."

"We went here for restaurant week and had an amazing time! The deals were awesome (3 courses- $35!!!) and the cocktails were a perfect mix if interesting and refreshing. For drinks, I really liked the Budding Romance. They were extremely accommodating to gluten free patrons as well!"

"We had a marvelous experience. When the serve learned that our thirteen year old grand daughter was there for her birthday, she arranged a special dessert plate for the table. We were very pleased. The service was excellent with attention to detail without hovering. The food was superb and prepared as we requested. This was our first visit, but we plan to return and to tell our friends. It was a memorable and unrushed evening. Thank you"

"This was a pleasant surprise in that we were visiting from out-of-state and took a shot in the dark based on past reviews. The menu was small, which is great. Do a few things well, consistently, is a great way to run a restaurant. The service was pitch perfect, 100%, no complaints. The prices were quite reasonable. Everyone working there seemed to be well-trained and extremely professional. If we lived in the Burlington area, we would go back there for sure."

"There are a few restaurants in the Burlington area that are attempting to skillfully assemble pure & wholesome ingredients into menus that create sophisticated culinary experiences. A few do it well, but none in my experience have mastered it the way this chef has. My wife and I went for the first time and loved absolutely everything we ordered from the appetizers to dessert, every dish & element of what we ordered was even better than we thought it could be. It is a diservice to even try to put into words how much I appreciate the food at Church and Main. The menu and the ingredients all reflect a mindful intent- a sensitivity and respect for cuisine. Each dish is consistently composed akin to nothing short of culinary master work."

"First time at Church & Main, came highly recommended by several locals. Everything about this place is amazing. The only thing was when the back door (not the entrance) opened it's became cold and I had to keep my jacket on."

"Our waiter Tyler was awesome.Give him a raise. He was attentive, personable. The food was beautifully presented. The salmon was cooked perfectly, mid-rare.. not over cooked. There is so much one can do with salmon I did not think it was as tasty as it could have been. The rub on it was a non starter for me. The field greens salad was adequate, could have been more creative & had too much dressing, (should cling to the leaves). I loved the fact I could split the salad as it would have been very a generous order along with the entree. The salad on the entree plate was artfully deconstructed. I liked the food, but I did not love the food. I did love the dessert, especially the key lime pie & panacotta."

"A busy evening in Church and Main as it was during Mardi Gras that we went. The bar was busy, packed with people in wigs and masks, even the bar tender was dressed for the occasion. The service was great and the food delicious. We will definitely be back."

"Atmosphere is very nice, views of Church Street and Main Street from the bar area are always fun. Love the decor. Appreciate the classy bar feeling, and I have always had good bar tenders. Dinner on this visit was good. Service is generally very good. Overall, very much worth the price and I do regularly visit this spot. Not overly crowded, not pretentious, not over-priced steak house, it is very friendly, with high quality food, an outstanding bar and a strong wine list."

"We've been hearing great things about all of the changes and hadn't been in more than a year. Wow were we glad we did! The restaurant was warm and cozy and the perfect place for our group (only 5 of us) to linger over some great food. It was quiet enough we could have an very easy conversation without fighting the din of background noise. We all had some great drinks from the bar, and must have had at least one of every appetizer - they were all very good! Our entrée choices ranged from the duck and Mr. Church's Chicken to two pasta specials that were outstanding. Then I think we nearly went for another complete round on deserts. This was easily one of the best dinners we've had in Burlington - and that's really saying something!"

"Went to Church & Main for a business dinner. Service was very good as was the food. If I have a complaint it is that the chef refused to vary from the menu at all. One of our party asked if it would be possible to substitute for a different veggie. The waitress checked with the chef and he refused. A little more flexibility would go along ways to making customers happy. Will I be back yes and will recommend it to my friends."

"My wife and I went here for Valentine's Day and it was very good. They offered a prix-fixe menu as well as the regular menu. We chose the latter since my wife has some dietary restrictions that prevent her from eating as much as was offered in the special menu. It was nice to have a choice that suited our needs in this regard.
I checked in on foursquare and was greeted with a free calamari app! The server was more than happy to honor it and was quick to point out that that it the calamari was dusted with rice flour instead of wheat flour to allow their gluten sensitive guests to enjoy it as well. This, again, was a nice thing to hear and we were both able to enjoy the dish.
The filets we ordered for our entree were superb."

"What a pleasant surprise this restaurant is! Creative and inspiring menu, Tyler was our server and he was excellent. My wife had a salad and the scallops dish. Outstanding presentation and she loved it. (Unfortunately, she and I have become a challenge for restaurants to impress). They had an off-menu soup special, which I had; Potato and White Truffle Oil soup. Best soup ever! On Tyler's recommendation, I had the "chicken". That word sounds quite pedestrian, but let me tell you in no uncertain terms that you have never had chicken like this. And I never order chicken in restaurants either. This was a great restaurant experience."

"The service and food were excellent. The waitstaff was extremely knowledgeable. The new executive chef clearly knows his stuff as the food was delicious. We ordered the salmon and the gnocchi, which was a special. Both were prepared perfectly and couldn't have been better. Very pleased with the experience. Go here if you are looking for a classy and modern restaurant."

"Our party of four had a wonderful first-time experience here on a recent Saturday night. It was quiet when we arrived at 6:30, but was quite busy by 7. The noise level was never too much, and conversation was easy. The food was uniformly delicious, from the locally-sourced cheese board starter to the entrees (salmon, filet, potato gnocchi special)to the desserts (strawberry shortcake, key lime pie, berry bread pudding). The service was very attentive without being overbearing. We would not hesitate to either return to or recommend this restaurant."

"I found this restaurant to be lovely, staff amazing, and the food delicious, however i did think the prices were rather high. We had gone up to Vermont to surprise our son for his 20th birthday and brought a cake with us. We were told there would be a charge to set up the cake and then plate i. It was a $12.00 charge, which I thought was outrageous! I have never paid a fee for something like that, even in Boston restaurants. So be forewarned, you will be spending a good amount of money for this night out."

"This is not your father's Uptons anymore. Long term Burlingtonians know what I'm talking about. Great for foodies and late-night snacks at the bar. Calamari's were perfectly done and not full of breaded batter. Other appetizers were not large enough to share. The Calamari's were enough to share with the whole table of 4. Will definitely go back. The menu looks delicious."
