"I had been here one other time, food was just good, well prepared and warm.
This time I took wife, two young daughters (6 and 9) and family friend out for brunch. Nice setup, the food was good and they kept the buffet well stocked. Only complaint is the waiter, very friendly and was around for the first 20 minutes then it was like he disappeared. Our drinks sat empty and it took forever for him to notice when we were done. I want to say it was because they were busy but I don't know that they were so busy he couldn't show his face, something else must have been going on. All the other wait staff seemed to be helping the other tables no problem.
Anyway, wasn't so terrible that it ruined the experience, in fact I would go again."

"We went for our anniversary. The meal was perfectly prepared. The waiter was friendly and made us feel special without going too far. He was very good as was the entire staff. We will definitely go back and recommend them.
We first went there last year during Denver 5280 and went back because of our experience then. That has not been the case with other places we have tried."

"Cool River Cafe has been a favorite for several years. While there are other steak houses in the area Cool River stands out above the others especially if you are looking for an intimate setting or special occasion dinner. They don't pack the place with a lot of seating so you always have a semi-private area for that romantic evening. The menu changes and they always have nightly specials not on the menu. If you are dining with a larger group there are areas in the bar or upstairs for that. There are several private rooms for that business dinner or meeting with heavy appetizers."

"If you like creative dishes, this is not the place. We were all reaching for the salt and pepper. It just seems that the food as good, but nothing seems to compliment the rest of what's on the plate. Prices are very high considering what you get. I don't mind paying these high prices, but I expect more because I have gotten so much more in flavors, presentation, creativity...at many other places...for less money.
"Blackened" usually does not mean a sprinkle of blackened seasoning onto an under cooked scallop."

"We continue to find both the food and service excellent here. We were last here for Easter brunch and the food choice could not have been better. In the past we have their steaks which were also excellent. Our only problem here for the brunch was the buffet was set up downstairs and we were seated upstairs. There was an elevator but it does loose some of the ambiance when you take an elevator. We actually usually prefer the upstairs seating but for the buffet try to get downstairs."

I was looking for a nice place that had quality food and service
to celebrate an anniversary. I did not tell the restaurant about the
annivesary, I just wanted a nice place to celebrate. Overall the food and
service was above board. I did find it odd that the tables did not have any
linen. For an upscale restaurant, this seemed to cheapen the ambiance a bit.

"We had a $50 gift card and decided to try Cool river for Dinner. I had been there for lunch and found the food a tad expensive but quite good. I had no idea it was so expensive for dinner. We had a steak, scallops, crab cakes and 1 salad, no drinks, just water. It was $90. Salad doesn't come with dinner, it was $7.
My wife and I agreed that with the gift card the price ($90-$50=$40) was about what I would be willing to pay for the food we received. If we did not have the gift card I would have been very irritated. There are plenty of other places within 10 minutes of Cool river I will go to with much better food and either cheaper prices or at least the same prices."

"The service and food were very good and the staff did a marvelous job. My only complaint was the wine by the glass: 2 chardonnays for $10 and $13--really? Clos du Bois is a nice wine, but I know how much a 1.5 bottle costs--$20--and it doesn't break out to $10 a glass. I realize that the bar is where restaurants make their money, but this was just gouging and it left a bad taste for the entire party."

"This was our first visit to Cool River Cafe. We tried it out for Denver Restaurant Week (5280). We both had the filet and it was excellent. A little too much pepper for my taste, but the cut was tender and cooked perfectly. The service was also excellent. we found the staff to be very attentive. The prices are a little high for regular visits, but we will definitely be back again for special occasions."

"Wow. This was our 5th Restaurant Week dinner. What a great evening! The food was DELISH -- and Lexi was the best server we've had. (And we went to Elways, Del Friscos, Chop House and Great Northern). Seriously -- wonderful evening, wonderful meal, over the top service."

"The restaurant has a nice and unique feel. Located in the Denver Tech Center it seems to sport a business lunch feel rather than an upper crust Steak House.
We attended the 5280 week and the menu looked great! Turns out the food was fair. Nicely cooked steak, but then they coated it with cherry glaze which over took the reason for a good filet steak. The rest of the meal was just ok, but the full slice of cheese cake at end was great! Service was good, but not special like many other establishments near by. The manager came by and introduced himself which was a nice and appropriate touch. I have had several business lunches at Cool River and thought that they were perfect, dinner, not so much."

"Cool River Cafe surprised me that they served a filet on their 5280 menu and it was just as delicious as their off the menu steak. My husband's portion of salmon was quite generous. The entire meal was of the quality we have come to expect every time we dine at Cool River. It is one of our favorite restaurants!"

"The atmosphere and the decor were inviting and the 5280 experience promised to be a good one. We really wanted to love this restaurant but it just didn't happen. After waiting at our table for 15 minutes before anyone came to give us menus, water, etc., we asked a bus boy to find us our server. She finally arrived and was pleasant throughout the meal. We both had the filets, garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus. We had ordered our steaks medium rare and they came medium at best with a heavy and salty wine reduction sauce. The asparagus was limp and cold. The potatoes were fine. We were not sure if this is the caliber of food always available at this restaurant or if the food was substandard simply because it was a 5280 meal."
