"The food was great for 2 of us and OO but not great for the third member of our dining group(The Chilean sea bass was fairly blah). It was the 5280 week and we did enjoy and take advantage of that special. We like Cool River and think it is sometimes underrated."

"When the waitress saw that we were ordering from the 5280 menu she wrote us off. We will less inclined to order apps or wine. The food was great, but service was very disappointing. The last time we went the service was outstanding, but Friday night it was extremely disappointing."

"I love the atmosphere at Cool River and have always enjoyed the lunch atmosphere. Tried it out for the 52.80 dinner Friday night and it was average. Steak was overcooked and had to be sent back, and the service was sub par. But for the most part it was a great dining experience, and a great meeting place to catch up and have dinner with an old friend. The slow service might have been less enjoyable if I was with someone else that may not have been as talkative."

"The food was amazing. Quite a steal for the $52.80 deal. The atmosphere was really neat as well--a nice balance of noise but quiet enough in your table to be able to talk quietly.
The service was good but could have been a bit better. But overall a great restaurant that I'll go to again."

"From the moment we walked in everyone was extremely friendly and nice. We did not feel rushed at all and had an excellent dinner. We loved the varieties of great wine as well as the specials (half price) on many of the great bottles! That is something you do not find at nice restaurants. We would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone and hope to dine there again very soon.

"This time we were seated in the mezzanine, and it was disappointing. We were seated in a booth and there was no table cloth. Due to the volume that night there wasn't another table available. I think we should have been a table with a table cloth. The meals are priced to include that kind of amenity."

"Our party of four enjoyed Cool River very much. The wine list was excellent.
The bar/lounge area is extremely noise - conversation was difficult.
Food was very good, but our steaks were overcooked the first time and needed to be replace. Flavor and presentation were great.
Overall service was slow - but the waiter did make amends by providing a group dessert.

Would probably go back but only for a special occassion - once or twice a year max."

"Cool River Cafe was the perfect resturant I picked to take my younger sister to dinner. She may have to leave Denver because Frontier Airlines will be relocating dispatchers to Indy. She does not want to leave but, it is hard to find a job right now in this economic evironment. We rarely go out to dinner together, it is usually lunch. It was a special night at a special place."

"Everything about this place is wonderful. From the super friendly greeting we got when we walked thru the door, the waiter, the bus people, to the coat check girl, everyone was SO nice.

The wine list was huge and the food was incredible. My husband had steak and I had seafood.

The restaurant is huge but very open and thus quiet enough to have easy conversation.

We loved Coll River and will definitely return."

"On Monday Feb 15th There was no Valet Service. There was no coat check. Although the restaurant was reasonably empty we had to finally get the Bus boy to take our credit card.

"The steaks were not in the same league as Shanahans, Brooks or Del Frescos. I think of Denver as a great steak town but this one did not measure up. My bone in rib eye lacked the flavor and texture I expect for the price. I suspect that in the economic downturn they have cut back on the quality of their meat. The one positive aspect was the quality and ambiance of their humidor/cigar room - I will go back for that but not for dinner."

"The food was very good. The cuts of steak were excellent, cooked exactly as requested. The lobster was plated very well and cooked to perfection. The selection of sides were as expected, the basmati rice was fantastic however the mac & cheese was not as flavorful as one would like.

The service was fantastic, not too in your face while still being perfectly attentive. For the price it was pretty good, although given it was only our first dining experience there, we will be going back to see how the other selections fare."

"I have been to Cool River many times. I continue to be amazed that they cannot consistently cook a steak properly. I've been there when the steaks were repeatedly under cooked and then dramatically over cooked. I've been through two occasions where the steaks of my colleagues went back 4 times! I've learned not to bother sending them back if you want to finish eating anywhere close to your companions. This last visit was no different. The medium steak was almost well done. Two of the other steaks at our table of four were not even close either. One under done, one over done.

Otherwise this is a nice place, good service, nice decor, good wine list, etc. After my last visit I will probably not return unless a customer insists."

"My wife had the bacon wrapped scallops. The scallops were fine, but she wishes she would have been able to have them sans the bacon.

I had the porterhouse with mushrooms as a side. The steak was done perfectly, but I was surprised that the beef was stringier than I have come to expect at other steak places. I probably would have been better off with another cut. The mushrooms were absolutely fantastic; perfectly cooked without the heavy wine taste most places seem to prefer. The service was excellent."

"The hostess was a little stressed. We had requested a special table and she did not know where it was. The waitress was very nice. I ordered a burger cooked medium. It came out more like well done. The bun was over toasted (hard) on one side and the vegetables were not hot. I did not complain because we only had an hour for lunch.

The menu has a small section of lunch fare in the $13-18 range. The dinner menu looks like it has a lot of nice steaks and stuff but it was all too pricey for lunch."

"I have dined at Cool River many times over the years. This time the front line service was poor, the support staff was good. You expect the service to match the price structure in place. We asked several times for additional settings, water glasses were not filled, I received a martini up instead of on the rocks and asked for this to be corrected. The watiress brought me a glass of ice to pour my drink over it. Somewhat funny! Roast Beef was served cold as well as the potatoes. I order a second martini before the entrees were served, I received that martini during dessert. Beautiful. Oh well, things have changed at what use to be a well run restaurant."

"The Thanksgiving Day buffet was FANTASTIC! The best Turkey and mashed potatoes that we've had. I have recently learned that I have food allergies, some that are difficult to work with (orange and pineapple). But, the chef at Cool River was very helpful and willing to get me foods that met my needs so that I could enjoy the holiday dinner and not feel that I was missing anything.

Fantastic wine list too! Great spot for special occasions or just a nice dinner night out (without kids is best)!"

"We expected more of a high-end dining experiences but it was cafeteria like at best. Instead of seeing real roasted turkey with white and dark meat we were treated to a stark white turkey roast that was very unappealing. The side dishes were equally uninspired. For example, the asparagus was very over cooked and the mac and cheese was uninspired as well. We've gone to Cool River several times in the past and the food was always superb. This experience makes me think that they gave the regular cook staff the night off and brought in caterers. We were shocked to say the least. On a scale of 1 - 10 with 10 being the highest, we would rate this as -5. We won't be going back for this service with them again."

"I was not impressed in the least!Asked for table by the fireplace - was nice beginning. Asked that out table be set for 4 (There were 3 of us and 1 for a place setting for Mom - she passed away on Oct 20th from Cancer) Had to explain twice that I needed the place setting as a memorial - they still removed it. The Rose wine was good, the turkey and ham were processed and warmed up then placed in chafing dishes. I could have done that kind of spread at home. The only items that were not processed was salmon and prime rib. Prime rib was served in 1/4 inch slices. After we had sampled all the food, soggy stuffing, cut fruit, 2 different kinds of lettuce salads, the wait staff decided to set up a stocking station on the fireplace"
