"Important note about Scarlatto's-- there is an upstairs section in addition to the main dining room on the first floor. The staircase is long and narrow, and there are a limited number of tables up there. Advantage is it's much quieter than the main room, but the stairs could a a problem for older folks.

Went for pre-theater dinner with friends. Scalatto's has their act together. The service was very prompt and efficient and the food was good. They had us in and out in about an hour."

"The only thing that prevents me from giving this restaurant a terrible rating was that the food was good. What was not good was that the waiter made clear from the beginning that we needed to be done eating asap so they could turn the table over. There are ways for a service person to be sure that we finish in an appropriate time without coming out and saying to us that we can not take our time with our meal!!! Some subtlety in that area would've gone a long way!! When my son tried to order the Chocolate Souffle, the waiter rudely told him that it would take 25 minutes to cook and he should order another dessert. It was not a suggestion, but an order. Not good. Learn to finesse the situation, people. It's called customer service."

"The servide was superb as was the food. This is the fourth time I have been there so that is my biggest endorsment. I return. We feasted on very well made pasta cabonara, branzini and salmon, great chicken limone. The portions are moderate size. The desserts were remarkably light . The bread is a meal unto itself. It really is a find in congested and commercial times square. It does get crowded so make reservations but they seem to try to accomodate everyone. Nice smiles all the way around. Never rushed."

"I have bento Scarlottas many times. The service is wonderful, the food excellent, and the ambiance quiet enough to have a conversation. Two other wonderful things are the round tables for larger groups - we have been as many as ten. The antipasto serves at least two, the prefixe menu has great choices. "On a recent theater night, Scarlatto seemed a perfect choice due to location. However, I would go out of my way to dine here again! The food and service were exceptional! The pasta was outstanding and the staff was friendly and accommodating. Many regulars were on the scene, but first timers were treated equally well! A touch of real Italy on 47th Street.

"Scarlatta is my go to restaurant. I make reservations there for my theater group for the prix-fixe lunch which is always an excellent choice. They accommodate all dietary needs. "This was a great unexpected pleasure! So rare to find a restaurant in the theatre district that has such good food that it makes me want to go again just for the food and not just for the location! I had the fabulous, fresh, beautifully prepared salmon on the price fixed menu. Bargain! Everything was first rate. Same with my husband's choice of gnocchi. Best tiramisu ever. The decor is lovely with exposed brick walls with elegant crystal wall sconces, crisp blue check table cloths, elegant chairs and rustic wood floors. They are very efficient and will get you out quickly for the theatre or come after 7:45 for a more leisurely dinner in a more quiet setting. This restaurant obviously cares about repeat customers not just tourists.Well done!"

"Perfect for our post-theater 5:00 dinner and accommodated our group of 7 well. Wait staff was friendly, large selection on the menu and the food was very good - definately recommend the dessert. Accommodated our two young children also! It was great to NOT be in a crowded loud place!! We all left happy and with full bellies :-)"

"Great place before theater, after or just for lovely night out. Before theater it can get very noisy and crowded. But food always shines. A pre theater menu is a bargain, 3 full courses for $29..and these are not skimpy portions. Mussels were tender and in a savory garlic sauce, pasta with mushrooms was lovely. The grilled chicken breast with potatoes flavorful. Tiramisu or pan a Cora round out the meal."

"Food was better than I expected considering it's right in the heart of theater district. Most places are tourists' traps in my estimation. I go often to NYC and look for "unknown" restaurants, but I wanted a conveniently located restaurant, and Scarlatto's was a surprise. My only criticism, is the appetizer portions were huge, basically a meal in itself. I would like if they offered half portions of the appetizers or reduced the amount and charged less. I couldn't finish my dinner after eating the appetizer. No room to try any of the desserts, though some looked tempting."

"Overall we enjoyed our dinner and thought the prices were reasonable. We had the mussels and mozzarella/ tomato salad to start, gnocchi and pumpkin ravioli and the pancetta and creme brûlée for dessert. The pasta is clearly homemade and delicious. I do not recommend the creme brûlée. I only ordered it because the chocolate soufflé was going to take too long and we were headed to a show. Our server was very attentive for the first half of our meal but then disappeared for a bit. We were seated upstairs which was nice because the downstairs tables were very close together and it was extremely noisy and hot."

"This was our second visit to Scarlatto. The food was very good. We choose the prixe fixed dinner. Everyone is our group enjoyed the dinner. I found the service a little scattered. Service was a little rushed with our dinners being practically thrown on to the table and to the wrong person. No one came over to see if we wanted coffee with our dessert until we had all finished."
