It doesn’t get more local than Calzone's, in the heart of North Beach. Whether you're sitting outside at the heated cafe tables or inside in one of the comfy booths, this sparkling bistro with a decidedly Cal-Euro atmosphere is the perfect place for watching eclectic locals mix with visitors drawn by North Beach's reputation as the hip place to see and be seen.
The restaurant has been owned and operated by the same North Beach native since 1986 and is open 365 days a year, serving food continuously from 11:30 am until 1:00 am.
"food was average - my pizza came slightly burnt on the bottom. felt like a factory the way they pushed the touristos through. found much better spots in the neighbourhood"

"Went to dinner at Calzone's on a recent Saturday night. Nice crunchy/chewy bread offered right away. Scallop appitizer was great, wasabi kick was unexpected surprise! Everyone's dishes were great, procuitto / artichoke pizza--yum, sausage orzo pasta also good, but the best was the fresh fettachini alfredo with lots of crab, artichokes and spinish...it was excellent. All portions very generous. House red wine was ok, the Hess Cabernet was very good. Chocolate mousse dessert was good. Rapsberry lemonade was wonderful. Service staff were all very attentive, great service. Really great meal. No Valet parking, but we found a garage next to the police station (less than 2 blocks away) , and only spend $6 for parking for a couple hours."

"Food was pretty basic. Pork chops were good although a bit too heavily seasoned with garlic. Calzone with gorgonzola artichoke and spinach was pretty flavorless. Salad with arugula was a little heavy on the arugula. Desserts were scant. Drinks were good. Tequila mojito was very good...."

"In the heart of North Beach, with great outside tables for people watching. Food was good, and everyone was friendly but service was spotty. Only half the table was asked what they would like to drink. Some food came quickly, some did not. One person in my group just ordered soup, but it was e first thing brought out, he was not asked if he wanted it served first or when the rest of the table's . Half of our table was finished eating before the rest of the food was served."

"We had a good experience, but were not impressed with the food. The chicken pesto calzone really didn't have any flavor. The chicken was dry and bland."

"Excellent place for people watching while having lunch or dinner.
Some items on the menu are outstanding, however some others are meh. overall, as far as entrees are concerned, I've found all of their pizzas to be outstanding, and their Mojito's as well. The rest of the drinks were kind of so-so and I thought the pasta was average."

"Took some out of towners here and we were seated 30min after our open table reservation with five people at a small table for four. Food was overall good but the soup one person ordered was served after everyone had pretty much finished their meals and it was cold. Won't be going here again."

"Whenever we are in San Francisco we stop at one of our favorite restaurants....calzones. Great for dining outside and people watch under the gas heaters. Food, service is always the best."

"Cazone's is a North Beach iconic restaurant. The service is fast and atmosphere is fun. Our food was delivered before we could blink. Ingredients were fresh and delicious. I recommend the bruschetta, pizzas, and lasagna. If you're looking for a fun place to eat to experience a little bit of North Beach flair, Calzone's is the place."

"Last week, I slipped on a slice of lemon that presumably your staff missed in collecting. I have photos. The garbage bins were neat, so no one had ransacked them and left that slice. I asked Juan and Rachel for guidance. As I'm still hurting, I'd like your advice on what to do. This is very stressful, as I had planned to travel in a few days. Thank you. 814-9241."

"We shared a lasagna style calzone, which was tasty and filling. I had t he Caesar salad and my wife had the tomato salad. Service was efficient and attentive. The street scene is lively and gives ample opportunity for people watching."
