South Branch is Chicago’s hottest weekday gathering spot, and newest and boldest riverside event space. Envision lavish outdoor parties in the warm summer sun or holiday parties where the sprawling views of snow falling on the Chicago River accentuate the occasion. Big enough to host the largest affairs, but versatile enough to accommodate many smaller gatherings at once, South Branch can handle groups from 20-500. Closed to the public on the weekends, South Branch is exclusively available for private events.

"Reservations recommended, because South Branch gets busy at lunchtime - especially on a Friday. That said, once seated, service is friendly and efficient. The menu never misses - hard to find something that isn't good (I haven't yet)."

"The food was really great and the service was awesome, our food came out fast. The portion sizes were the only negative. I ordered red snapper which is a thin filet (understandable) and it came with a sweet potato/sausage hash which probably was 1/4 of a sweet potatoe chopped into tiny cubes and MAYBE 4 or 5 tiny cube pieces of sausage. The sausage tasted amazing so I wished for more! The person I was with ordered the skirt steak which was a decent size cut of meat but again the vegetables on the side were someone smaller portion, a very small scoop of mashed potatoes and a few veggies."

"South Branch is an after work sort of place. Nice spacing for people to stand and just have drinks and appetizers, but if you're there to dine, there's enough room. The food is decent. The stringy cheese has got to be the best thing we had! It was delicious!!!

"I loved eating outdoors on the river at South Beach last summer; I was equally delighted with my recent lunch experience inside the restaurant. The tomato bisque was hearty and warming on a chilly day. The main course salad was fresh - dressed, not drowning - in a tasty vinaigrette, with fresh tuna cooked perfectly. The occasion was a reunion with an old friend, and the staff graciously allowed us to linger, refilling our iced teas, but with no hint of hurrying us. My friend and I were both delighted from the ease of making an on-line reservation right through to the key lime pie and coffee at the end of the meal. I will definitely do this again."

"The food was pretty good, we went for restaurant week. I was not very happy with our waitress though. It was busy, but she really was not pleasant at all. She was very terse when we asked questions about the prix fixe, and did not bring napkins or dessert menus as we requested. We may be back, but I hope we don't get the same waitress!"

It took a very long time for our food to come out, which was extremely inconvenient given the fact that we were entertaining a client who needed to get back to work for an afternoon meeting. "The food was rather good and our waitress was very, very good. She was always there but not pushy. She was constantly filling up our water and soda glasses with a smile. My Waldorf salad was very good."
