"This is the second time I've been to Hospoda, both times for Brunch on Sunday afternoon, and both times have been absolutely spectacular. Situated in a quiet neighborhood in the Upper East Side it's probably not a place you're going to find without specifically looking for it (or unless you live nearby). With that said however, it's well worth the trip even if you're living elsewhere. While their menu changes seasonally (and perhaps more frequently), everything that I've tasted there has been amazing - from their beer, to their beer-foam cherries. Would absolutely recommend it to others (and have before!)"

"Service was friendly, but not attentive, food mostly disappointing. Half the entrees were cold, many under seasoned. Scallops lovely, short rib cold, chicken flavorless. One drink arrived by itself, the other had to be tracked down. Waitress very nice, but a bit amature. If this was our first time, we probably wouldn't return, but had been great on other occasions."

"I know some other restaurants from Ambiente-Group in Czech Republic. All this restaurants offer a good quality.
The food was very good, the portions in "XS". If you are very hungry, you need a whole menue. A cool "Pilsner Urquell" makes it easier :-) Nobody will belife, that they take for a glass of Bercherova 11,00$! Wouw. Not a good marketing, to make Becherovka more populare in NY.

"The restaurant is striking with a well-thought-out and attractive layout. The food menu is just varied enough to suit a variety of tastes without being overwhelming; the group I went with loved every dish from the asparagus to the scallops to the arctic char to the short ribs. The drink and wine menus are tomes that intimidated us originally, but between the waitstaff and the personable sommelier, we found something we liked without going out of our price range. I can't wait to go back."

"This was our first time at Hospoda. It was great! From the moment we arrived and they found out it was our first experience, we were sent on a journey... We were given a taster of their 'full foam' beer, which was great and needless to say we ordered one each of those! We then decided to have the wine/beer pairing with each course. If there was a wine/beer recommendation we did not fancy then we just asked the Sommelier's next choice.. Each time the different wine was brought out by the Sommelier with the food and explanations given. It really was a fantastic find. My husband has eaten in a lot of restaurants and said that this was by far the most fun!! The restaurant itself is very cooly decorated too. Will definitely return."

"Incredible food! Favorite dish was a slow-cooked chicken with black currant foam (foam didn't fall flat like in some other restaurants). Also plum dumplings. Delicious Czech beer brewed on the premises - they gave a sample as soon as we were seated. It took a REALLY long time for anyone to actually get us a menu and take our order, then for the food to arrive. My friend had to work a night shift and we thought we'd given ourselves ample time for dinner but we ended up feeling antsy about the time. A waiter came over to acknowledge the delay, and offer us a free drink. I felt they handled the situation graciously compared to a lot of restaurants. Overall I'd go back."

"We arrived before our reservation time and told the hostess we don't mind waiting. She said she can seat us, then she changed her mind and she changed it back again. Finally we were seated. The restaurant was half empty and it was Friday night 8:30pm. The tables around us were still open when we left around 10pm so why was she thinking so long if she could seat us early or not? The beer was great but that's about it. The salad we got was terrible, we could not taste anything other than vinegar. The second course we chose was the ricotta gnocchi & braised rabbit. There was hardly any rabbit meat in it, but the taste overall was nice. The third dish was arctic char, it was cold and raw. Awful. No one ever came to ask how our meal was."

"Very interesting off the beaten track place... the service was terrific - very knowledgable and informative, and the beer selection was amazing.. the food while very good, was a very small portion for the entrees -- the protein was there, but it was missing some sort of veggie or carb.. and for the prices (not cheap) we left a bit hungry! :( friends and I had the salmon, someone else had the duck and I had the scallops and pork -- and again very delicious but lacking in sides..."

"Nice to have a hip joint on the UES. Food was interesting and would be fun for adventurous eaters. Unusual beer and wine options were a treat. Tough for those of us with allergies because the wait staff didn't know much about the ingredients and the menu gives broad strokes only. We went early so the noise was not a problem...very pleasant. A bit of extra space between the tables meant we were not obliged to hear our neighbors' conversations. Service was attentive and friendly, but slightly disorganized. A bit expensive, but would definitely stop in again for drinks and a bite."

"The server strongly suggested we each order three courses after we asked what a reasonable amount of food would be. The courses were HUGE. One appetizer course was a full-size grilled ham and cheese sandwich. Do NOT order 3 courses per person. We could have shared a single appetizer between the two of us and each ordered an entree and still been full. And we don't eat like birds. We paid for a lot of food we didn't eat.
Also, the service was not good. We were given only one menu, there was no spoon for the soup course, and our server disappeared after giving us dessert menus, and we had to hunt down our check from the hostess after waiting for 20 minutes.
The highlight of the meal was the wine pairing, which really was wonderful"

"The restaurant seemed off on its execution the entire night. The service was scattered and confused. The manager was very nice but had to fill in for our waitress at the bar because she was clueless. When we got to the table it was almost as if the entire staff was training that night. The flavor of the food was excellent but the appetizer and both courses were cold by the time they arrived and there was a long gap between courses. The wait staff even served only three of the four dinners that came out on the tray and was about to send the fourth back to the kitchen even though it was the correct dinner. Not the service you expect for a restaurant this pricey."

"I had been meaning to visit for a while, but wish I had come sooner. The food was absolutely sensational, the most exciting I have had in New York for ages. Best of all was the delicious duck risotto with walnuts, which we could have eaten forever. We also enjoyed the complimentary beetroot soup amuse-bouche and all-foam Pilsener which kick-started our evening. The service was attentive without being obtrusive, too. If we had been hungrier or been in a larger group we might have taken advantage of the tasting menu and had a lot of fun with the beer or wine pairings. Will definitely be back to convert more friends soon."

"We went on Valentine Day and tried their 3-course set dinner. I liked all of them. From the 1st course raw tuna salad to jumbo shrimp to finally the filet mignon main course, all were very delicious. I usually eat a lot but could not finish my portion. My date said the portion was good size as well. I also enjoyed the beer the waitress recommended, so did my date. We had a good time. I'll go back again."

"Hospoda is excellent on so many levels. The staff is very relaxed and pleasant while the service is very efficient. The setting is very contemporary with good lighting and low noise level. But above all, the food is extremely good, boasting subtle and delicate flavoring in every dish. No dish is average or boring and everything pairs well with the draft Pilsner."

"Hospoda is a surprise find, between 1st and 2nd. Big windows, very spacious, darkly lit and playfully elegant and hip. Service is exceptional, friendly and professional. The food was very tasty, interesting combinations and well presented. One drawback, none of the food was hot enough, maybe because the kitchen was downstairs ... but that didn't detract from a very enjoyable evening. An odd fixation on foam that I just don't get. Serving beer foam in a glass "on the house?" Good idea not to charge for beer foam, but really? And tiny little shot glasses of green cucumber foam with tiny spoons... again, really?"

"This was truly an unexpectedly wonderful dining experience. The food, which was prepared to perfection, was equaled/ if not surpassed by the most attentive and warm staff imaginable. The room is uniquely high styled and has a very cool vibe. I so enjoyed my first dining experience during RW that a returned for a second time that week!!
