"We have been enjoying this place since it opened, were disappointed when it closed for lunch a while ago. Happy to find it open for brunch on Mother's Day. Had great smoked salmon appetizer, fantastic roast beef for the middle and a chocolate thing for dessert. And wonderful coffee for only $2. Starbucks, put that in your cup..."

"We looked on-line, booked and were so pleasantly surpirsed at this lovely little restaurant. The food was very good. The chicken and kale soup outstanding. "The food was outstanding: I had fish papillote and my wife had salmon: we shared a beet salad. The cocktail was delightful, a refreshing gin and freshly squeezed grapefruit base. There's a great selection of french wines by the glass. The service was wonderful, and the ambience was intimate and elegant. This is a great, tasty, relaxing dinner in Lincoln Park, where there aren't many restaurants that fulfill all the criteria.
It was quiet on a Monday night. The manager told us that Fridays, Saturdays, and Apollo nights are busy. It's a small place, and Sherry said that she wished people would make reservations on busier nights so that they could bring in wait staff to accommodate unexpected business."

"Stopped in here a few weeks ago and sat at the bar with a friend and we had a wonderful meal. The service, and food were all wonderful, I love the feeling and actual family business, while we were there the first time the chef owner's mother was waiting tables and also checking in on the folks at the bar. It is friendly and a very warm inviting space. Our first visit was memorable enough to come back again within a couple of weeks, this second time the vibe was a little bit different while the service was attentive just enough , it did not have the same intimate feeling as before. The food well prepared but just not as tasty as the first visit. I hope they are successful and more people find them, it is a nice neighborhood gem."

"I took a chance on Aquitaine for a birthday dinner and I am glad I did. None of the foodies I know had heard of it, but the menu looked really good and it was. The duck confit mac and cheese was out of this world! The wine list was good, probably not suitable for a really discerning critic (no crazy vintages or anything), but we loved our choice, and it was at a fantastic price. The cocktails were stunning: this place would be my pick for drinks and shared small plates. Only complaint is that it's a bit drafty, but during the warmer months I'm sure that will add to the atmosphere"

"We ate at 5:15 PM. We were the only people in the restaurant at that time. A little later a handicapped couple came in for dinner. Our salads were ok not great. The French Onion Soup was salty and the broth was thin but it had a pleasant flavorThe fish meal was also just ok. We would not order it again. The service was very good. We believe things might have been different if more people were in the restaurant. The feeling about the place was hurt by the lack of others dinning."

"The wonderful decor and great reviews had my date and I really excited. Unfortunately, the food was only fair. My date had the Sea Bass that decidedly tasted more like Perch. My rabbit ravoli was a new venture for me so I have no opinion other than I thought mustard dijon sauce slightly overpowered the taste of the rabbit. For the price point, we will not be back."

"Great service with a good atmosphere, Aquitaine lived up to expectations. The food was delicious but not spectacular and the restaurant seemed to have a lot of local parties that had long dinners, however after 10pm my party was the last one in the restaurant (so moderate noise up to 9:30pm and then quiet after). I would go back at least for the setting and to try some of their sweet potato gnocchi."

"A small intimate restaurant with a wonderful ambiance. This place seats 34 patrons so it is cozy and comfortable. The service was excellent and the food even better. I had the crispy duck with smoked mushroom soup. Fantastic!! All our questions were answered and opinions were right on. A really enjoyable experience and look forward to going back!"

"We went to Aquitaine for Restaurant Week. For our first course my husband had the mussels and I had the spinach and chicken crepe. Both were good, but not outstanding, the crepe had nothing about it that made it stand out, it was mediocre. For entrees he had the pork shoulder, which was very tender and quite good. I had the Duck Breast which was also good, not blow your socks off, but good. My husband had creme brulee for dessert, good not the best I have ever had. The stand out of the meal was the Amber Cake that I ordered for dessert. It is because of this cake that they get 4 stars instead of 3, it was so good I would go back just for that. The layers of flavor and texture were out of this world. The wait staff was friendly and welcoming"

"We went for restaurant week dinner. The food was good but nothing special. I had the cheese plate - pretty standard with small pieces of brie, gouda, swiss, and blue, along with half a baguette and a nice jam. The menu said grapes but there weren't any. Unfortunately the jam was quite messy and I ended up with sticky fingers. My husband had the salad/soup to start. We both had the duck entree; again nothing wrong but not exciting. The best dessert was the amber cake; the manjari was a standard chocolate mousse cake shaped like a dome. It was a decent neighborhood restaurant."

"The food was excellent - presentation was nice, taste was very good. Service was right on, not too much but perfectly timed. BUT the restaurant was FREEZING and very uncomfortable to sit. The floor was very cold and the windows are not insulated at all, so on a winter's night....unpleasant. But I would go back, in warmer weather."

"We dined before Greenhouse Theater 1 block away--nice alternative to lots of pub food in the area. As other diners have noted, the Duck confit Mac and Cheese appetizer was absolutely delicious. My dining partner loved her salmon and the chef was kind enough to alter the scallop/risotto appetizer into a dinner sized portion--also delicious. The only negative was that they charged $2.00 for a small bagette when we requested bread for the table."

"I made a reservation for this restaurant on a week night because I wanted to take my teenage son to a nice but still casual and relatively inexpensive restaurant before a school event. I was so happy to find this place! The food was excellent and the decor and service were impeccable."

"Perhaps it is because we just returned from the restaurant mecca of the world, New Orleans, but this visit fell short of expectations. Menu was interesting and had good variety. Drink selections were limited. Husband had braised pork loin which was exceptional. I had the fish of the day en papillote in a white wine which was cooked to perfection and delicious. Portion sizes on the rabbit ravioli and scallop appetizers were small for the price. Entree pricing was appropriate for the area and the serving size. Creme brulee was nicely done with lots of fresh vanilla bean flavor. Only one waiter for the whole restaurant. We waited for our order to be taken, our drinks,appetizers, etc. Had higher expectations based on reviews and area and price."
