"Every time I have eaten at Ryu I have not been disappointed. The food is amazingly good and beautifully presented.
Mouthwatering sushi and sashimi served with pizazz and flare. The only draw back is the noise level. So many hard surfaces in this place make it difficult to enjoy conversation. Many young people in groups abound making the noise level even louder.

"Had a small issue with the reservation but everything was remedied professionally. Great service to make sure our group was taken care of. Amazing food as usual. Great energy throughout the night! Will go back again and again!"

"Its very difficult to find a restaurant that has both good food and good cocktails, but this place does. The service was good, decor was nice and they have a good wine list. We've had better meals for less, the prices seem a bit inflated, but, overall it was a nice night and we will return."

"We had a reservation for 2 at 7:45. We were seated and tended to right away. First we ordered some very good Edamame et Popcorn shrimp. Then an assortment of various dishes. They were all very unique tasting and good but definitely way too expensive. But, at around 9:30 a huge group of loud people came in. And what i thought was a quiet intimate restaurant turned into one of those supper clubs. The music became extremely loud, people started pouring in and scream at each other. I know i can't blame the restaurant for this. But they were not aware of our discomfort at that point, and rather than rushing to get us out of there. It took forever to get our bill. Will not return. Too expensive for what it was, unexpected ambiance."

"Very disappointed in other reviews stating this was some of the best sushi in Montreal. First of all, no sashimi or nigiri on the menu so not really a sushi place. When I asked the waiter for the sashimi selection he said they had just the basic fishes: red tuna and salmon were all he mentioned. So we went for the maki's (rolls), they were average but not worth the premium price in my opinion. Wine prices were pretty good and the place was packed, its a nice place too, but I was looking for an alternative to my favourite sushi restaurants... will not return!"

"The food was excellent .. Better than mikasa and the food is much lighter.
After your done eating you don't feel overstuffed. I went with a group of friends and we ordered a lot and shared the experience was great. I would recommend the cod which was excellent and tuna tataki i don't like fish and i could eat those plates over and over again! The crispy rock shrimp is a must! Everything is good and I would recommend sharing so you can try a bit of everything. The dessert is excellent the fried vanilla ice cream yummm!!! Cant wait to go back! Our server was great to ask for Ricky."

"Me and my husband have eaten at many sushi restaurants. Firstly, we had a reservation for two at 10pm on a friday. We had to wait ten minutes, then we were placed at a table reserved for another group, so we then got moved again to our designated table. We ordered approximately 5 dishes. It took 25 minutes to receive our first dish and we spent 2h30 waiting for the other dishes. The sushi and presentation was very normal. They didn't even present what type of sushi we were eating. One of the waitresses was poring water in one cup, she wasn't paying attention and pored it all over the table and didn't even clean up after herself. Overall, I was very disappointed of the quality of food, service and ambienc considering the highly priced dishes"
