"After reading horrible reviews about the food but what we had was okay - not fabulous, just okay. The dancing was entertaining and tastefully done but nothing to write home about. When we entered the host compared the show to something you may see at Cirque but it wasn't even close in quality. this is a good novelty restaurant, but nothing for the serious foodie or for anyone seeking real entertainment. We had a nice time though."

"I spilled sauce on my blouse, and the manager quickly came over with club soda so I could get it out. This was greatly appreciated, and a sign of the quality and attentiveness of the people who work here. The doorman is great, as is the bartender Alex. Our waitress was also very friendly and attentive, and helped by bringing us a light to see the menu better, and making sure my cocktail didn't slide off the table when it started condensating. Keep up the great work! We will definitely be back!"

"I really enjoyed the ambiance. It was a pleasurable evening except our waitress was inattentive and our first meal was quite unsatisfactory. We ordered the lobster burgers which felt wet on the inside, as though they had just been defrosted and reheated. It didn't really even taste like lobster necessarily. The manager was kind enough, however, to remove the lobster burgers from our meal and allow us to select something else from the menu. My friend ordered the spare ribs and I ordered the Filet Oscar. Both were much better than the meal we initially picked so I am satisfied with the food in the end.
Overall, I would say enjoy this for the bar scene and light snacks (fries or popcorn) but the service and the food leaves much to be desired."

"Got dressed to the nine (even though you don't have to) and went to this fantastic restaurant. We arrived and were blown away the entire time. The decor is amazing (everything is gold and over the top), drinks were fantastic, food was top notch (i suggest the 3 courses for $35) and the burlesque dancing every 20 minutes was out of this world. We tried every cocktail and they were all fantastic. The volume is regulated to a perfect level. Not to loud when the dancers are off and just loud enough to grab your attention when they are dancing. Low light gave a very romantic feel. My date and I have a truly memorable experience. By far the best date I have ever been on and I will be back."

"The stage for performances is about 12 feet high so when requesting a table, request one in the back middle to get the best view. Otherwise, they will likely put you on the side and you will be turning around and looking up the whole time. The Wednesday fixed price menu is a steal compared to the regular menu. They are dishes from the regular menu but a fraction of the price. Either way, on a Wednesday expect to spend about $90 pp with everything included. Very pricey place."

"At first I was worried because of the reviews so I made a reservation to another restaurant :just in case" the food was horrible. BUT to my surprise, the food was yummy. "My biggest gripe was the 75$ minimum saturday charge. I was not informed by the host, after dinner and drinks I was told that i was off the magic number:) and was forced to buy a bottle of wine. I found the manager to be boorish and it ended up not a very pleasant experience overall. I did love the ambiance and the performances, and that is the only reason I would think of coming back - never again on a saturday though :)"

"First I want to say how outstanding the service was. We were greeted and made to feel very welcome and after finding out we were celebrating we received a complimentary glass of champagne. The atmosphere is very different than any place in the neighborhood. It is reminiscent of a Phantom of the Opera setting and really dark and opulent. I am a vegan and the chef accommodated my needs with a delicious meal. My husband thought his could have been better, although he did enjoy it. What could be better was the entertainment. It was a lot of fun (for the few minutes it was on), BUT the lip-synching just didn't work for us. We felt longer segments and sung by the entertainers would take this place from Good to Outstanding."

"We attended the Sax Burlesque Brunch, which has a small brunch menu and also offers bottomless mimosas or bloody marys and also has a burlesque performance very 15-20 minutes. We had a great time. The food was good but not outstanding, drinks great, service outstanding and the shows were awesome!! Very fun and different brunch experience! The restaurant is decorated very lavishly and has a really cool atmosphere. Definitely not a family brunch location unless you are okay with pasties! But super fun with girlfriends!"

"The Ambiance at sax was very good. When you walk in, you feel like you are going into a theatre. Our waitress was very attentive and was there whenever we needed her. The entertainment was fun to watch and is definitely not for the faint of heart!!
However, I must say, the food was mediocre at best. To be blunt, it just wasn't good.
If you go to sax you will be wowed by the entertainment and ambiance, however your taste buds may not thank you for the experience."

"We enjoyed the experience, but was a little disappointed with the entertainment. The dances were not very involved. All the dances seemed to have the same moves and it was a little redundant. Also, the pole dancer was not there and that was disappointing.

"Sax was way more than I expected when we walked in the door for our first time! The ambiance was a very upbeat French experience from the decor and entertainment through the cuisine. The little freebies like the Ginger Popcorn and the Passion Fruit shots really put a nice touch of value on the whole experience. We liked the fact that there was security outside screening the patrons and keeping everyone safe."

"Took my husband there for his birthday, thought the show starts @ 6:30... little did we know, the show started after 7 and it was for 1 minute and the next time it went back on was 35 minutes later! So not worth the money for the food and the time for the supposed "show".
It's more for going to have a drink and watching the 1 or 2 one minute interval shows in a 2-3 hour period.
Very disappointing."

"I went for the Wednesday Burlesque and Bubbles with my husband. It was lots of fun! Great atmosphere-they really are committed to the burlesque theme. The food is a little pricey but you get the entertainment every 10 minutes or so. The dancers were great. We enjoyed ourselves! Great spot for a party, large groups, or even a date night."

"I liked SAX. I chose to go for a special night out with a guy I'm dating. It was fun to get dressed up and see burlesque. I liked the decor of the restaurant; it was decorated so well. The food was so-so, for DC it didn't really stand out to me. The drinks were pretty good. Lots of tasty cocktails to choose from. Bubbles and Burlesque (Wednesdays) was cool because we received a free glass of champaigne. We also received a free shot because of SAX, SEI, and OYA celebrating their 10-year anniversary. I read reviews about people having terrible service, so I was pleasantly surprised with my waitress. She was a real doll, catered to our needs."

"Excellent atmosphere, very cool and professional shows every15 minutes or so, very cool. The food is only okay, and the service wasn't anything special. But it would be a really fun and sexy date or for a girl's night out. The shows range from modern ballet/dance to acrobatic pole dance to risqué burlesque. It's great fun, I would go back in a heartbeat for the show and the atmosphere, not the food."

"What a wonderful place - the food was delicious (especially Wagyu burgers), our waitress Felicity was awesome, and the ambiance with the dancers and masks was uber sexy! Great night out with my partner. One thing to consider - this is not a place you leave stuffed as the food portions are share sizes, like tapas."

"Check the prices that come on the menu against the ones on the check at the end. USD 3 were added to each of our items, on the claims that the menu prices had changed that day. Secondly, make sure that the tax is not included twice, after you split the check between credit cards (ours was included twice). Needles to say, we had lunch for 1.30 hours and the bill settling process was 45 minutes. The place is nice and unique in its design and show. But that's about it...."

"I can't believe more people don't go to this place for Burlesque Brunch. The show is fantastic; the food is GREAT. The service is so-so, but who cares? There are burlesque dancers and poached eggs, and it feels like you're eating inside a theater. It's a fantastic experience all around."

"A refreshing take on dinner and a show in DC. Sax is not just a restaurant, it is an experience. The food was better than I expected and the service was amazing.
The only problem we had was that we ordered several small plates, delivered two at a time, and they didn't quite fit on the small table. However, the staff did an excellent job pairing the plates so that they complimented each other.
The show is for a mature audience but tasteful and the entire waitstaff is gorgeous."
