"I really enjoy dining at this restaurant, the food is great, and the ambiance is comfortable and inviting.
The one thing that I hesitate about when deciding whether or not to go to this location, is the noise levels coming from parents that are inconsiderate of others. There is an abundance of families bringing what I call Chucky Cheese or McDonalds class children to this restaurant. Unfortunately the staff are afraid to say anything to these parents, and it cheapens the experience for others.
If this doesn't bother you, then this is a really nice place to spend an evening."

"My daughter and I made reservations for Mother's Day dinner. The service was wonderful and the place was energetic, with multiple generations of families celebrating their mothers. The food was prepared as we asked and it was just great. I love coming here. You have a customer for life."

"The rib eye steak was very weak...looked pan fried and was dry. The baked potato was dry and tasteless The chicken strips were tough. Waitress forgot our salad and soup Never checked in our satisfaction and had to ask for refill and silverware.
Poor food and service to match."

"Wife had the new york ribeye, green beans & onion rings; she said everything was DELICIOUS!! I had the caesar salad and the appetizer sampler plate; salad was large but dressing wasn't very caesar, sampler plate was o.k.. We had very good service, I liked that. Almost forgot, we had lime margaritas - very very good."

"Love the mud pie, love the booths. The lighting in the booth was like a sun lamp. My wife and I went for a nice get away from the kids dinner. The restaurant I wanted to go to was full. We had been given a gift certificate to Black Angus a year ago and decided to use it. The location by our house has never been great on my list so I decided to try a different location. We both ordered the filet. To be honest, they could have served us a ribeye by the look and texture of the meat. It was medium rare as ordered and had decent flavor but I have had better filet from Costco on a backyard grill."

"These guys are experts at steaks! The top sirloin was done to perfection and just melted once on the tongue. We had the platter for starter - a great selection of prawns, spicy chicken, cheese-filled half-potatoes and vegetables - followed by divine potato soup. The meal was rounded off with mud pie. A truly memorable meal."

Review 10 for Black Angus Steakhouse - San Diego Friars Rd.
"We are visiting San Diego from Scotland. Black Angus was recommended by friends & we are so glad they did. We booked online - very simple. The welcome was sincere and the service impeccable without being intrusive. Our combo starter would have fed 3 so we (2) stuffed ourselves. The rib-eye steaks were cooked to perfection. They were probably the best we have ever had. I enjoyed my partner's onion rings, my baked potato was dry and could have used more butter & sour cream. My salad was superb. The biggest disappointment of the whole evening came at the very end. The coffee was dire. It is such a shame that when so much care is taken with the food it could not also be taken with the coffee. I didn't even drink mine."

"We were celebrating my husbands birthday and with our reservation, there was no waiting, we were shown to a nice booth and our server was prompt and cordial. Our food was just wonderful, the steak was cooked perfectly and they even provided a birthday treat for my husband. I am looking forward to our next chance to go back for a special dinner! Thank you"

"Steaks were chewy and couldn't be sliced cleanly. The color of the steak surface was barely brown. The vegetables were a bit on the overcooked side. The waitress was constantly forgetting things, like a replacement napkin, refilling water, and providing dessert for the kids."

"Ambience for two is very cozy in a booth. Restaurant was moderately busy as was the bar. I order the filet w/bernaise butter, asparagus and a baked potato, which was so large I couldn't finish. My husband ordered the salmon which he enjoyed very much. We would definitely revisit this restaurant."

"Enjoyed lunch at this restaurant. Have been to their restaurant in Kearney Mesa (closed in January)often, although mostly for dinner. The food was extremely good and enjoyable. However, as it was lunchtime, the service was a bit on the slow side, and they were not very busy."

"The service was ok. We were a party of 12 at 2pm (it was not a busy time of day) and the waitress was helpful by splitting the checks other than that we waited over 40 minutes for our meals to be served. The food was ok but not great. My sister and I ordered baked potatoes with our meals and they did not come out with our food, we had to ask for them. The waitress did bring a birthday treat however it was undercooked and looked sloppy."

"We love the cozy booths and the quite dinning experience. The wait staff is always very friendly and makes us feel quite at home and make the effort to see how our experience is progressing. We often use the coupons sent us for the "Campfire Feast For Two" which is always more than two can eat, especially if you take the Sampler Platter as your appetizer. The meat is always done to perfection and how you ordered it as are the vegetables and and other sides. On weekends it may pay to make reservations, but not necessary if you don't mind waiting a few minutes, and is great place for small intimate groups and couples. The wine list is a bit skimpy but has sufficient fair to complement their menu."

"I went to black angus on valentines day and it was packed. This was not my first time going to black angus and usually their service is great. Unfortunately, mybe due to valentines day and the crowd, their service flatter just a bit due to the following experience: 1.) server forgot to give us bread; 2.) our appetizer was delivered to another customer; 3.) forgot to provide us with utensils to eat with; 4.) received the appetizer (the wagon wheel) but was unable to eat it because no napkins or utensil was available; and 5.) waited a while for untensils and napkins. Besides those few issues, the waitress did her best and was pleasent. She was very good in refilling our drinks. The food was great, hot and cooked the way i requested."

"Made a reservation weeks ago for Valentines Day. Waited in the bar for 20-30 minutes for a table which wasn't a big deal, but was not happy when we were shown to a tiny two seater table in the back corner of a restaurant full of booths. When we said we wanted a booth and would wait longer to get one, we were told that the tables were pre-assigned and that's where we were put. We told the hostess that wasn't acceptable and were walking back to the hostess stand when another woman told her seat us at another table. This table was a booth, but in the corner next to the kitchen station. I think I heard "corner" yelled out about 50 times by the servers while eating dinner. Ugh!! Why would you give someone with reservations these tables?!!"

"My wife had to send her shrimp back because it was undercooked and greasy. Her prime rib was dry. We were disappointed because Black Angus used to be are favorite resturant. The waitress was very kind and took care of it promptly."

"I was once a big fan of Black Angus steaks, but lately I feel the quality has gone downhill. During my last visit my 12 oz New York strip was really fatty and tough and I feel I can get a better deal elsewhere."

"We have a group of close friends that we have been celebrating birthdays with for many years. There are twelve of us usually, so we almost have a birthday to celebrate every month. We all meet in the bar lounge, and then we sit at the same table in the back which is great. The servers are always very friendly and we love it there. They are nice enough to give us seperate checks for couples, six couples, and a lot of places won't do that. It makes life easier for us to feel free to order that extra bar drink if we like. The food is always great, we love the specials. The only thing I would like to see changed is the birthday cookie. We all liked the fudge cake better. See you in March!"

"FINALLY a great place to eat when you're gluten intolerant! All the steaks are safe, as are many of their sides, and if you arrive during lunch hours they have an amazing flourless torte for dessert!"

"This was a great choice for lunch with a friend I hadn't seen for awhile. We used a coupon and each had the grilled steak with french fries and brocoli. I had an iced tea and my friend had a Stella draft beer. The food was served hot, with a nice presentation and tasted delicious and well seasoned. Our waitress was terrific, was knowledgeable of the menu and beverages, checked on us throughout the lunch and was very attentive to our needs. The ambience of the restaurant was wonderful and the high booths made privacy great. There was plenty of parking and the hostess was cheerful, greeted us immediately and sat us right away. This was a pleasant experience and I would recommend Stuart Anderson's Black Angus for your next lunch."
