We are a fresh breath of class and style in the Sandhills of North Carolina. Located in Southern Pines, we offer an atmosphere of relaxed elegance and sophistication, where steak is our specialty. We have an extensive wine cellar featuring 3500 bottles, 20 of which we are pouring by the glass. Please join us between 5pm and 6pm to receive $3 off all entrees and steaks.

"I had high hopes for SPS but, unfortunately, it was fair at best.
We had a 7pm reservation, were seated promptly but didn't receive our meals until 9pm.
Heirloom tomato salad arrived with unripened tomatoes, filets were OK, not the best...mashed potatoes were basically pureed with zero flavor...broccoli rabe bland and overcooked. Desserts - don't even get me started - they need some serious work and tasted like they'd been sitting around for weeks. Ambience was fair and I found the decor to be odd (what color blue paint is that on the walls? Scary.)
On the upside, the cocktails were decent so they've got that going for them."

"Wonderful experience. Delicious food. Located in quaint downtown great for walking around before or after dinner. Service was adequate. Menu is a bit pricey but worth it for a special event. Celebrated a birthday they had confetti on the table, special dessert, and took a picture of our group."

"This restaurant was perfect. We elected to sit outside on the patio and it was a beautiful spring evening . We had a wonderful server, named Austin, who was extremely helpful. All of his suggestions were right on! The food was great and was cooked to perfection. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and we plan on going back."

"We've enjoyed Southern Prime Steakhouse several times and believe their ambiance is perfect for whatever the occasion may be --- or even no ocassion other than wanting to enjoy good food, good service, a thriving lively atmosphere. Excellent service is provided at every stage of the dining experience.
The bar is great when one feels gregarious; the dining room when one wants to be more alone with their special dining partners. The classy touch of providing a photo of special occasions is a nice gesture---as is the dessert for the celebrant! We enjoy this restaurant very much!"

"We sat outside and while I think that could have made for a good experience it was my most disappointing visit here yet. It was sprinkling rain when we arrived. We had no options to dine inside. Service was extremely slow perhaps due to our placement. My suggestion going forward is that if rain us in the forecast do not book patio tables or at the very least invest in table umbrellas."

"Wow! Second time there and an incomparable dining experience. All of our party had top notch cuisine and terrific wine recommendations. The waiter took tremendous personal pride in our experience and worked hard (but not oppressively) to make our evening special. He (E.B.) was easily the best server we have had in years. We'll be back with friends!"

"My wife and I have been there twice. The first time was absolutely fantastic. So much so that we made reservations to celebrate our Anniversary there. We are from Fayetteville and it takes about an hour to get there, so it should be worth it. This time however it was an awful experience. The food was very subpar. I had the strip steak risotto and I wouldn't feed it to my dog. My wife had the prime rib special and it was terrible too. Service was super slow. I even had to take my check to the front. I am a foodie and if your good I will give a glowing review. I grew up in the restaurant business and if its bad I'm going to let them know. It would be unfair to the owners if I didn't."

"Excellaant food, service this time was OK but not as great an experience as our previous visit. I had mentioned we were celebrating a birthday so confetti on table, acknowledgement of birthdy when we arrived, special free desert and photo card to remeber the day were very nice touches by restaurant. A better table in a quieter spot would have made everything perfect!"

"All I can say is that was wonderful. I had heard of this restaurant from friends and my wife and I have dined at Chef Warren's and Beefeaters. Southern Prime outclasses both on many fronts. The restaurant itself, although it doesn't really look like a typical restaurant on the outside is gorgeous. Very attentive staff from the get go especially from such a young staff. Younger staffs usually aren't that attentive to customer service, but this staff has been trained exceptionally well. Lobstertini was ok. Too much sauce and a few shells. The pork shank was good. Fall off the bone and not dry. Lot of meat. You have a winner with your grits!! They were divine. Great experience."

"This was our first visit and it certainly will be one of our favorites in this area. I loved the warm atmosphere and the staff was over the top in service. The management style shows through. Need more bread, water, wine...you were attended to by numerous members of a professional staff. The meals were coooked to perfection...medium rare and a term I wasn't familiar with "Pittsburg rare" for my husband..perfect. Our waitress was Lacey as requested..she is terrific and knowledgeable as stated in previous reviews...keep up the great work."

"Beautiful restaurant! Our dinner was very good and the service was excellant. My only complaints are the rib eye steak was too large...they only offer one size. I left half of it but the server offered to wrap it for take home. I did but if they had a smaller size I could have enjoyed it all there. They have a very impressive wine list but no Zinfadel. Other than that we had an enjoyable evening and dinner. My husband and I were celebrating Valentine's Day a day late because the ribeye on the Valentine's Day menu was even larger and I was told we could only order from that menu on Valentine's Day.
They don't enforce their dress code of business casual. We saw people dining in jeans and jogging suits!"

"Great service and great food. Excellent selection of wine. The aged steaks are all they are cracked up to be, one of the best I've ever had. I went with the ribeye. Only draw back was the prices are a bit on the high side espcially if you want extras like salad or a sauce/topping on your steak--which will cost you extra. If you're prepared for that, you will enjoy, if not the bill might be a shock. My wife and I each had a steak dinner, w/ a side of mushrooms, house wine/beer and dessert. With tip it was about $90. A lot but the food was truly excellent and we were celebrating a special occasion so we had planned to spoil ourselves, which is exactly what Southern Pines Prime is about."

"Southern Prime was recommended by friends who dine out quite frequently. As this was our first time dining at the restaurant, we were not sure of the menu so, I went with the Southern Prime Burger. We also ordered crab cake, Ahi tuna and my wife had the Salmon. The crab cake was over priced for what you get, and not what I consider "lump crab." I thought that was a total let down and would not recommend it to anyone. My wife enjoyed the Ahi tuna and said it was very good. Her salmon was over salted and appeared to be under cooked. It was salty, that she had it returned and replaced with the Lamb chops. They were also under cooked and didn't appear that appetizing. The Southern Prime burger was bland but the potatoes were good."

"We have been to the Southern Prime before on a weekend night when there was entertainment we wanted to see (Danny Infantino). We were also entertaining out-of-town guests that evening. Despite a mixup in our reservation that night (we specified a table in the bar to hear Infantino), we had a very enjoyable evening and the food was excellent.
On this occasion, we were celebrating a birthday and chose Southern Prime. Once again, the food was outstanding, and the service was good, but some of the staff seemed very unattentative and appeared to want to be somewhere else. It became somewhat distracting.
We will return because the food is good, but likely take guests to other favorite spots that are more consistent."

"The quality of the food was a little low for the price. I'd prefer Chef Warren's or other local spots over this one. I wasn't too pleased with the Filet. I think I'd probably enjoy a steak from a cheaper restaurant more than this. There also wasn't very many customers but the servers seemed to not be able to keep up with the work."
