We do things a little differently at Graffito...
We are very committed to doing fresh, locally sourced cooking, from scratch. We make all of our pastas in house. We bake all of our own breads and buns. Our chef even makes his own mozzarella and Italian sausage! At Graffito we take seriously the tagline: Scratch Italian Cooking!

"We had reservations and promptly seated. Just bad timing, steam tables were close to empty when we went thru the line. The food was tasty, but never seemed to have enough of most things. Took a while for staff to replenish. Service was very good, but prefer to order off the menu. Will return, but not for brunch."

"Very disappointing, went for what we were hoping to be a great Mother's Day brunch and turn out to be a cafeteria food line. Nothing original on the menu, food was on some tables in spots that were hard to reach and the only saving grace was the prime rib carving station was a guy who cut any size with a smile."

"I had the swordfish and my wife had the tailgaterre and they were both outstanding. The swordfish had a tomato basil butter that was simply amazing. I would definitely order it again and again. Our server was patient, attentive, and right there if we needed anything without it feeling like she was at the table all the time."

"First of all this was a hard place to find because there sign was kinda buried in the building. Checked in, which was pretty fast and friendly. The place was real long, it looked reall narrow because it was real long.
To start thing off I started with the gnoochi everyone seem to be talking about and had good reviews. I didn't kow it was more like a chili bowl type of dish. It was good, it had a good spice to it. The only thing I didn't like about it was the potatoe was kinda sticky.
For my main course I had the papadelle (waiter recommened) It was suppose to be duck confit. But when it came in it look more like a stew. I had two bite and that was it. The sauce was real thick and rich. And the taste was real bad. I have to give it up."

"I had the sword fish. Something on it was very , very salty. I think it was the hunk of butter on the top. It made everything salty, the potatoes, the asparagus. All I could taste was salt for the entire meal. My husbands pizza was great and half the price of my sword fish.

"We took our kids (13 & 11) and my parents on a Friday night. Couldn't have had a better experience. The manager came to our table a couple of times to discuss our daughter's nut allergies. She also offered to send our son an Ryan Braun autographed card. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable. The food was outstanding. We live in Chicago, but will return on a future trip to Milwaukee."

"We went to the restaurant for my husbands birthday. The atmosphere is nice, right on the river. The staff was friendly although not super prompt-which was okay because we were not in a hurry. The food was somewhat disappointing. The ideas for dishes were good, however the actual end product was something we could have made at home; therefore we felt it was overpriced. Maybe we would return for drinks only on the river."

"I've been to Graffito twice. Once in the summer, where I sat outside. It was so lovely. Perfect service and the food is unbelievable. The second time was recently. I took my boyfriend for his birthday. We got appetizers and both had entrees. Our waitress was so awesome and was spot on with drink recommendations. She gave us a complimentary piece of cake and made our whole experience wonderful. I'm going back and bringing everyone I know. 1 million thumbs up!"

"The food was the star at this Saturday evening dinner We enjoyed all of our several reasonably priced small plates, especially the gnocchi. Our waitress was mostly attentive, knowledgeable and helpful with suggestions, but she was missing in action at key times for beverage refills. This would have been okay if the people (bus staff?) could have, for instance, refilled a coffee when our desserts were delivered, but ours instead said he would send our waitress around. The coffee refill 5 minutes later was not hot.
Another miss was the staff up front. They appeared to be focused mostly on each other and were not very welcoming. We passed a group of three as we left without receiving a goodnight or please come again."

"The entire dining experience our party of five had one evening was exceptional. We had an early reservation and the dinner crowd had not started rolling in so we had a quiet atmosphere to talk and enjoy our meal. The staff was excellent. It appears they truly enjoy the work they do. The food was delicious. I can't say enough good things about the eggplant and any pasta meal promises to be a good choice. Be sure to leave room for dessert! We were there for a very special occasion and towards the end of the meal, my nephew was visited by the GM who congratulated him on his recent accomplishment. He was smiling from ear to ear! What a perfect experience for us."

"My family celebrates all significant events at Grafittos such as graduations and major events. I arranged a birthday celebration along with a good luck party on April 6, 2013. Grafittos was warm and welcoming and did everything in their power to assure a fantastic evening. Our menus were personalized with the names of the birthday girl and my son's who is leaving for training in the Special Forces soon. Celebratory cakes were delivered at the end of a fabulous meal, once again personalized. I could never praise Grafittos enough for the great food and memories made in their restaurant! We will be back again for the next big family event!"

"This was our 3rd visit to Graffito and the food has always been outstanding. The restaurant is usually very noisy and busy, but we've found that sitting in a booth makes it easier to converse. On our last visit, the restaurant was quiet and not too crowded, and we had a very pleasant meal."

"Complimentary bread was fresh & warm. Food was mediocre. We had the carpaccio, calamari & pretzel appetizers. Carpaccio was smothered in capers. Calamari were light. Pretzels were good while warm but then were hard as rocks. It was freezing in the restaurant. We asked if the heat was on & were told that they had hadl all of the doors open for cleaning & the heat was on & it should warm up but it never really did. Eggplant entree needed more sauce. Fish fry came with potato pancakes &/or fries. Got both. Fries were not crispy. Potato pancakes were the better option. Gamberi pasta was delicious. Chicken Parmigiana was nothing special. Did not order desserts between the taste of the food & the fact that we were all cold."

"We ate here Sunday Brunch on Easter. My friend ordered the quiche and found it very bland. The waiter took the quiche and brought some french toast. She thought it was great! When we received the bill, we were not charged for either the quiche OR the french toast. The service was excellent."

"The fish fry was fantastic! I especially liked the potato pancakes, but didn't care for cinnamon in my applesauce. The service was very good. Two people in our group limit their carbs, and they were able to substitute spinach or asparagus for the potato pancake. The hot bread at the start of the meal was just delicious. The marble rye just couldn't compare."

"Graffito is a beautiful place to enjoy some time with friends/family over food. The deserts were AMAZING, but the dinner we had left us all wanting more - SALT, that is. The food in general seemed very under-seasoned. I am not at all someone who salts her food after it is prepared, but the dinners/appetizers at Graffito were greatly improved once we added a little seasoning/salt. The home-made pasta in the spaghetti and meatballs was blander than bland which made me think that the cook didn't even salt the water the pasta was cooked in - sort of shocking and pretty disappointing. We tried the mushroom risotto and that was PERFECT - very delicious, but everything else ordered needed to be salted to enjoy."

"We just took our boys to Graffitos for their 8th and 13th birthdays. We walked in to Happy Birthday menus specially made for the boys which they totally loved. The Manager was incredibly kind to us...the staff could not have been nicer or more accomodating. The food was outstanding! The freshly made pasta makes a huge difference in quality. Loved hearing that Ryan Braun sometimes comes in and graciously interacts a bit with patrons. We have already told a number of our friends in Franklin and Wauwatosa about Graffitos. We look forward to going back. We hear that in summer, the seating on the River is great!"

"This review might be a bit biased, as this is the 5th or 6th time we have been to this restaurant, and we have known the head chef, Joe McCormick, since he was a little boy in the neighborhood. Best way to describe the menu is modern Italian. The restaurant is located immediately south of downtown Milwaukee on Water Street, and it overlooks the Milwaukee River. Interior is very modern and the lighting is perfect. At our 3/9 visit, Joe was checking the bar when we arrived and personally discussed the new menu and item preparation. We ordered Swordfish and a traditional standard, spaghetti and meatballs. Each was excellent. Graffito is a restaurant we keep coming back to, and our return has nothing to do with Ryan Braun ! Great Food !!"

"Our server, Alexis, was poor to fair and needs to improve her skills. She was friendly, though. She brought our bread basket and nearly immediately brought our calamari. We had three bites of calamari when another server brought our tomato salads. At that moment, we felt very rushed. Alexis made note of the multiple plates and asked us if she should hold off on putting in our dinner order. YES! The food was excellent. I ate half of the braciole and asked for it to be wrapped. Alexis brought the bill but no leftovers. She carried away my leftovers but blamed a busser for doing it/forgetting to wrap. She corrected by giving us a full order to take home. Bad waitress."

"Once again this restaurant, like it's name sake, hit it out of the park. I had my favorite the hot wing raviloi which never fails to be a winner. They recently went with a Stauss veal marsala which is my husband's favorite Italian meal so, of course, that was his choice. We started out with warm, fresh, crusty bread and an olive oil/olive tamponade that we could have happily ordered more of if we didn't know what was coming with the entrees. The ravioli was again a home run but evidently the veal marsala was the MVP if you based your decision on the fact that my husband used the remaining bread to mop up the sauce left on his plate. His comment was "That's as close to licking the plate as I'll come in public"."
