Tasca Brava has been described as "the little gem" and was placed on the list for the Top Ten Restaurants in the Triangle by the local press. This is because Tasca Brava is a careful blend of everything that is good about Spanish style, cuisine and hospitality, that go together to create a unique authentic relaxed atmosphere, where the visitor chooses to eat or drink as the mood takes them..
Tasca Brava is above all about Tapas, those small individual portions that offer a very flexible and sociable way of dining and most people dine when they visit Tasca Brava. You can eat as much or as little as you like at any time of day, allowing people to suit their own appetites.
"Part of experiencing this restaurant includes interacting with the "owner" as he goes over the menu and makes his recommendations. Unfortunately, it is this part of the experience that is clearly the negative. He goes over the menu and promotes the items in an arrogant fashion and does not really want you to ask any questions. I really don't mind the accent at all, but it's the attitude that is the main turn off. We pride ourselves as being foodies and wine lovers, so that is what we look for in a restaurant. This restaurant fell short of the spanish tapas bar experience. There are a couple of other stand out tapas restaurants in the triangle and Tasca Brava does not belong in that group."

"Fake Spanish accent, fancified tapas, moldy smell in sunroom. Service was slow, food sounded better than it tasted and the smell in the room detracted from the ambiance. I had a better past experience than this visit - will give it another try."

"Authentic Castillian cuisine made passionately by Juan and staff brings you to foreign shores right here in Raleigh . Freshest ingredients around from appetizer to dessert giving you a bullfighters view of Spanish Cusine at its best. Bravo!!"

"I lived in Spain for four years, and was a little skeptical. However, Juan (owner, chef and waiter) sure knew how to prepare the best Spanish dishes I have had since returning from Spain. The wine pairing was amazing also. My wife and I sat in a corner and had one of the best times and will visit again the next time we visit Raleigh. Juan was knowledgeable and very entertaining. The location is unassuming, but if you are in Raleigh and like authentic Spanish (not beans and rice) cuisine, you have got to visit Tasca Brava!"

"Best Spanish food in Raleigh! If you want authentic, go here. Dinner is served at a leisurely pace just as it is in Spain, expect to be here at least 1.5-2.5 hours. The restaurant is in a charming house, very romantic. The food is clearly cooked to order, very fresh, and extremely tasty!"

"Well, altought the overal rate is only fair, you have to keep in mind that there is no restaurants in USA better than a plain good. The food was good, but we couldn't help but point this: - The place is kind of shabby. - The dishes are not spanish style (at least, not traditional style). Not-knife cut ham that was almost prosciuto... wrong!. - We asked for two 'gran reserva' wines of the menu but they weren't available. We have to pass with a 'tempranillo'. - The waiter/owner will bore you with thousands of 'funny' facts and knowledge pieces of doubtful source about the food. - The bill was huge.
Para españoles: esta a medio camino entre bar de pueblo y tasca de carretera, pero al precio de por lo menos un tres tenedores."

"Great food and very authentic. The waited was also the owner and chef which was cool but he also was very biased and his kids were running around with him for some reason. He also spoke very fast with a heavy accent so it's hard to understand the specials. Otherwise it was great !"

"Went with a group of 4 and tried a great many of the chef's recommendations - he was also our waiter! His recommendations were great. Second time I have been there - food is excellent, chef is very passionate and entertaining. An enjoyable evening with a nice ambience."

"We went via a recommendation and therefore, high expectations. We will not return. The drink quantities are stingy (ex. we were served sangria in small champagne flutes and when we ordered a single glass of wine it was half the size of the wine glass we used for the bottle we ordered. We asked for a larger glass and the waiter refused saying he used the smaller glass because he knew the "pour" line for a single glass only on the small one. So we emptied that into a large one we had on the table that had the wine for the bottle. What the? We spent close to $300 on dinner for 4 people and he is worried about over pouring a wine by the glass? We found him to be obnoxious in his presentation of the menu and food was subpar."

"Another "divine" experience here. The chef is wonderful and very entertaining. We had a late reservation and were still treated like royalty. The food is fresh and eclectic. His housemade chocolate is the best in Raleigh."

"We visited Tasca Brava while on a trip to Raleigh. We love tapas and definitely weren't let down. The food was all very good with a couple of the dishes (specials) being excellent. The owner seems to be everywhere at once and was very helpful in decided what to order. Would be nice if they had a printed specials menu as it was difficult to remember and choose from the list that he recited to us. It's a very small restaurant but we had reservations and didn't have to wait at all. The tables are pretty close together so not a place for an intimate conversation... We loved it and will go again next time we are in Raleigh."

"The food was good. The most unotable thin about the experience was the service. Going to a tapas restaurant one expects to wait a little bit longer for food. The waiter/owner rushed through the specials list. I could not understand half of what he said. We got a wie ad when I asked for a second glass it was nowhere to be seen. I asked again and no wine. Our food must of taken 30 minutes to come out, couples that came in after us got ther food. And when we asked for the check it was another 30 minutes. The service was very poor. There has to be better tapas bars in the area with a larger wait staff and cooks. I would recommend no one goes to this restaurant. Not worth the money. And the check did not show what we ordered."
