"I knew this Bloomfield restaurant was BYOB but of course forgot to grab a bottle of Shiraz to take. My husband and I were directed next door to a bar to purchase a bottle which was quite pricey at $25; the only other option was a local wine.
The choice of entrees seemed limited in terms of seafood choices, but one of the specials was swordfish which my husband enjoyed. I ordered two appetizers, the lamb meatballs and the beet salad. The meatballs were rather bland, and the beet salad was overloaded with beets and dressing that drowned the lettuce. The best thing about the meal was the bread served with a white bean and sun dried tomato spread that was tasty; overall, we were disappointed and will not return."

"Very good restaurant. However, we did not dine until 9 pm on a Saturaday evening. By that time, they had run out of several menu items which was unfortunate. This was my second time at the restaurant and I would go back again."

"Dillion was an attentive waiter and made us smile. The food was great and not a long wait. In fact the timing was spot on. Loved the gnocchi! The corkage fee was best I have seen at a byob. We definitely will return."

"We were looking for an alternative for dinner before a show in the cultural district. We usually eat downtown, but wanted something different. We were intrigued by the menu and not disappointed. The seafood stew was fresh and clean tasting, and the salmon risotto creamy and flavorful. The server was extremely attentive and amusing, as well. We started dinner at 5:30 PM which allowed ample time to enjoy dinner and still be downtown for an 8 o'clock curtain."

"This was by far one of the best restaurants I have been to in Pittsburgh. The food was amazing as well as the service. It is BYOB but our server suggested that we go to the distributor across the street and had no problem with us bringing in a case of good beer. The best thing was that it was not crowded on a Friday night even though it is by far some of the best food I have eaten. An awesome place and highly recommended."

"Excellent food, not the best I've ever had. Service outstanding. Owner came to our table and ask about our meals. Ambience could be improved. Restaurant needs a makeover. Parking is on-street, which can be difficult to find on busy evenings. An off-street public parking lot, but it is a few blocks away. BYOB which is nice, but I usually like to purchase a mixed drink and not bring my own. Three meals, salad, appetizer, 3 soft drinks came to $97 (without tip). I would not frequent Bloomfield at night - especially with no restaurant parking lot. We dined at 5:30 after CLO show downtown, so it was still light. Two police incidents that morning, though. Very good food, but I don't know that I would return."

"The atmosphere is nothing special here, and it is relatively small with tables closely set. The service was good, helpful and not overly anxious, even though there was only one other table full the night we were there. There are a lot of options on the menu, although pretty limited if you are vegatarian. The portions are quite large and filling. We enjoyed the crabcakes, although not the the best I have ever had. The brussel sprout appetizer was delicious."

"My first and not the last visit to Sausalido was a real pleasure. We were a party of 6 and each ordered a different entree. EVERY one of them was fantastic. The entrees included Duck, Crab Cakes, Seafood Stew, the fish special, Mahi Mahi over a mushroom ragu was very delicious (my dish) Chicken & Ravioli. The sauces were excellent also. All six of us were extremely pleased with the menu, atmosphere, service and food. The portions were very generous, and a delicious white bean hummus was waiting on the table along with fresh, delicious bread.
I have to commend Ed, our waiter who was patient, informative, helpful and had a great sense of humor!
It's a BYOB without a corkage fee that is more than a glass of wine, just $2.00 per pers"

"A very nice byob. Portions are large....this is a good thing, but in future I would not order an appetizer. Both of the dishes we had (duck and trout special) were good, but rich. My only criticism: the waiter raved about how delicious and terrific the trout special was, and then when he brought the dish, commented that this was not the fish he had "seen" in the kitchen earlier -- making clear that his recommendation when I ordered was not based on actually having tried the dish. At this price level, the wait staff should either have tasted everything on the menu and be able to make real assessments, or at the very least be honest (i.e., "I haven't tasted that special, but it looks great.""

"My wife and I returned here after a good experience on our first visit. The food is very nice and the portions are substantial. The gouda appetizer was excellent. The service was very good as well. Furthermore, the chef/owner acknowledged and thanked us for the business. we will come again."

"This was a fun experience. We found a parking lot across the street on Pearl, it was easy parking. The restaurant was a bit noisy and we did get a bit of a surprise. The restaurant was BYOB, I had read that when I first booked, but did not really realize what it meant. So, bring your own wine. (If you forget, you can buy an okay bottle of cab for $25 next door or their is a beer distributor across the street). We had a great app, the smoked gouda. The East Coast Caesar, had chopped lettuce, it was skippable. For the entree we had, duck, ravioli, and the pork chop. We were happy with all. The dessert sounded wonderful, but we did not have room."

"Very Good - no wait for our table on Saturday night. Food was good/worth it. Cons were: took a pretty long time to get our food they were out of ranch dressing they were almost out of daily soup on a Saturday night I would think they would prepare for a lot of ppl and not run out of things? our bill was also calculated wrong, but the waitress fixed it."

"It was awful. No one else was there. The chef was arguing loudly in the back about one of the other cooks. There was absolutely no way I was going to eat good made by that person. We left right after they seated us, and impolitely suggested they be more professional if they actually wanted people to come to their restaurant. No surprise it was empty. So we just went to Tessaro's which is, of course, amazing."

"We arrived around 7:30 and it was very quiet, 1 table was seated in the whole restaurant, which made it hard to have a private conversation with the open floor plan. But it picked up around 8/8:30, by the time we left the whole restaurant was filled. Definitely a later dinner spot.
The food was fantastic - especially the pistachio cheesecake. We both had cod with polenta, extremely well prepared and the fish was fantastic.
The BYOB was a great bonus as well, really cut the cost of what could have been a really expensive night out."

"It was Valentine's Day. My husband and I were seated at a table against a wall; another table was perpendicular to ours with a woman seated directly between us. She had her back to us, but was so close that it was like we had a table for three - there's NO WAY she didn't hear every word we said. And most of what we said was about how bad our waiter, Dillon, was. He told us about the special menu - and I ordered it. And then the ravioli were NOT shrimp like he told me, he brought me the wrong salad and forgot my husband's soup. The food was mostly good (even if it wasn't what we actually ordered) except for odd things like large raw slices of white onion where they had no business being and most things didn't match the menu descriptions."

"Wanted to seat us by the door even though I had called ahead to request a table away from it. We were seated at a table in the back which had crumbs or something on it next to the wall I was sitting next to. Had bread with their signature dip which was very good. Salads have the weird greens and a dressing which was was okay. Pork chop tasty, but not cooked through - they should have put it in the oven after browning to make sure it was cooked or asked how I wanted it prepared. Had risotto, which was very good. Weird deserts - just make it regular. Pistachio cheesecake tasted like it had blue cheese in it, not a desert? Creme brulee no consistency with granola? No prices on menu?"

"The chefs at Sausalido know what they're doing. Excellent variety and quality of appetizers, entree's and desserts. Our group of 8 throurougly enjoyed the evening and we'll definitely be back. Being BYOB with only a $2/person corkage charge is helpful too."

"BYOB - food is very very good. The portions are large and splitting an appetizer is suggested. We had the porcini gnocchi for a starter. I had the Duck and my wife had the chicken with brussel sprouts. I cannot wait to go back."

"2nd visit. You look at the limited menu and think "boring" - a piece of chicken, a pork chop, roast duck or a crab cake but they know how to fix each item to perfection and how to perfectly pair it with a side dish and oh is it marvelous!"
