Marnee Thai - Ann Arbor
The Thai word “Marnee” literally means “gemstones,” which are dazzling, colorful, and highly precious. Thai rubies and sapphires are very well known all over the world. Similarly, we at Marnee Thai carefully select high quality herbs and ingredients to make sure all of our Thai dishes retain their original authenticity.
Our first Thai restaurant in the U.S., Lotus Thai (opened in 2002, on Oak Valley Drive, Ann Arbor), has been well received by customers who seek authentic Thai food. This enthusiastic reception encourages us to open our second restaurant in the U.S., right in downtown Ann Arbor, Marnee Thai.

"I tried Thai food before. This food at Marnee Thai resembled the cheap Chinese buffet. I ordered Stir fry cashew - was over salted and very few amount of cashew - 5-6 halfs and asparagus with garlic - over salted too and I suspect they did not cut the garlic, used canned, which you can buy at Kroger. So bottom line is food over salted at the degree, that you really can not taste and enjoy other ingredients, small amount of cashew - 6 halfs, overpriced, does not taste like Thai food. I will not come back, sorry. I do not recommend this restaurant for people with heart failure and high blood pressure because of too much salt."

"We decided to go out on a limb and try Marnee Thai, a restaurant we had driven past hundreds of times but never actually gone to. It was delicious! Probably the best Thai food I've ever had, lots of food for our money, great service etc. definitely recommend this to someone looking for something yummy and different!"

"Ann Arbor is very lucky to have such an excellent Thai restaurant among its many fine downtown dining options. I go to Marnee Thai several times a year. The food is consistently excellent. I am a big fan of the green papaya salad, although the carrot salad substitute is also good. The curry dishes are a must (red is my favorite) and the pad thai is always a reliable favorite. The lotus eggplant is also excellent, and a generous plate to share-- there will likely be leftovers with just two people! Their restaurant week deal was probably the best in town, but the place is always reasonably priced with nice sunlight in the summer. One of my favorites for sure!"

"We had reservations for early. The food was okay, but when I ordered extra egg in my Pad Thai they did not tell me that it would be an extra charge. I hate when places do not tell me that there will be a charge when I get a little something extra. When the food came the egg was just put on top of the food not mixed into the food! UGH!!!"

"Marnee Thai has always been a great place to eat during all seasons. I visited this during Restaurant Week Summer 2013, and this is when you can get an especially great bargain. This place does not skimp on the size of portions served during Restaurant Week, unlike many other locations. The quality is as usual: great!"

"This place has really good thai food. I had the Tom Kha soup and it was amazing. The rest of my party had pad thai and yellow curry chicken and they thought it was really good. They ordered it mild and thought the heat was just right, very mild, they do not like spicy. We also all got the thai tea and it was a nice refreshing drink, would advice to try if you like tea. Overall, really good evening out dining."

"Marnee Thai is a great addition to Ann Arbor's restaurant scene. I would highly recommend dining her for lunch especially with their great lunch specials! The food is absolutely delicious! I would recommend the Panang or any other curry dish on the menu. Marnee Thai is one of the few places anywhere that actually presents customers with a spicy dish when asked, something I cery much appreciate."

"This was our first visit to Marnee Thai. We really enjoyed the food and the prices were reasonable for downtown Ann Arbor. I had the Pad sew ew and it tasted very similar to Pad Thai, it was very good. My husband and I also split the Satay buddies and the spicy beef salad, both were good. I would recommend this restaurant if you looking for good thai food. The service was also very fast!"
