"Took my partner to celebrate a surprise birthday to Splendido, a restaurant that he wanted to try at some point. Our table was in the centre of the room, so it was interesting to watch the crowd. Unfortunately, another table of 4 near us took the pleasure away from our evening. They were loud, and was edged on by a staff member in the kitchen who kept coming out to their table which disturbed other patrons too. The staff member should have showed more restraint and consideration for the other customers. The main course was delicious (skate and lamb confit, with Yukon Gold frites and roasted brussels sprouts), but red deer tartare was tasteless & chewy. Dessert was good. Service-expected to be more exceptional. Decor-dated,uninspiring."

"I had been meaning to eat at splendido for some time as it is consistently in the top 5 or 10 restaurants in Toronto. My husband's birthday was the perfect occasion to finally go. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left (and every moment in between) the service we received was unbelievable. The food was equally impressive and very unique. The only complaint would be how rich it was ..we normally eat very healthfully and only indulge once in awhile...we sure did here and felt abit off the next day...not the food or restaurant's fault, ours for overeating!!!! The decor and atmosphere is superb as well as the wonderful jazz music playing softly in the back."

"We went to Splendido for my husband's birthday. We had a delicious meal, food is top notch :) The service was amazing and we liked that the servers worked in teams so we were always attended to! The price is expensive but as they say you "get what you pay for". I would highly recommend this restaurant for special evening out when you can splurge unless you have alot of cash! Love it :)"

"I've been here before for dinner and was a bit disappointed, but wow their brunch has to be the best I've had in the world! Best steak tartar. It is a pity the bone marrow was sold out. Will definitely be back to try that and the french toast next time. The only negative part of our expeerience is that they forgot that it was my brother's birthday so they didn't give him the card they promised. I go for brunch at least once a month and have tried many places. I dine often in toronto, new York, Chicago, Hong Kong."

"Right from the welcome at the door, our dining experience was one that I will not forget for a while. Wait staff were friendly, quick and attentive without hovering. AND the fraqance of the smokey oysters when served--I wanted to bottle it and take it home with me! All courses were imaginative and tantalized the senses."

"this time we where a bit disappointed. the Boston salad had no taste. there was hardly no vinaigrette , it was mostly oil. the terrine on the asorted meat plat was not good. too heavy and too much. the server forgot to tell us its for 2 to shar! . The Halibut was great . deserts where too crazy and complicated. too trendy. some deserts better left alone in their classic form and not forced to become savoury. Overall as always service was good, atmosphere good ( music was too loud). It seams like the restaurant is aiming this days towards younger trendier crowds. too bad , I don't think you want to loose all the 50 somethings?!. Be trendy but leave some classics(with your spacial creativity) and bring back some good old deserts:)"

"Our table of 4 had a fantastic night at Splendido. We havent been for a few years so werent quite sure what to expect. This place remains a great destination for a special occasion. The service was truly outstanding, from the warm welcome, to discreet and very timely attention at dinner, to little gift boxed cookies to take home. One unique thing that every woman loves is that they bring little stools to put your handbags on. The food was excellent. Wine list very impressive, although light under $100. Deer tartar appetizer was very good and the entree of lamb paired with couscous and mint yogurt delicious. Add to it amuse bouche shots of mushroom soup, complimentary sweet nibbles brought out with our coffees...mmmmmm"

"Our first time and we truly hope not our last. From beginning to end... relaxed, generous, surprising, delightful. Great recommendations of wine to food. Outstanding presentation without skimping. Flavour in everything that didn't resort to trite or overused tactics. The tiny stools for the ladies handbags... well, of course. More words here would diminish the experience for us. Thank-you Splendido."

"It was a good sign that at 5pm on Thursday there were already 2 other tables seated for dinner.
Jeffrey comes over to recommend his 2 favourite cocktail creations - A Matter of Thyme and Mason McHugh. They were both extremely unique in taste and very delicious. If you are a tea lover like myself, you would love the Mason McHugh made with Earl Grey & Cinnamon.
We start with Frogs' Legs and Snails which was quite delicious. They were willing to split the appetizer for me and my dining partner which was great.
Next we had the seared Foie Gras with pistachio 3 ways. The pistachio paste was amazing!!
We order Scallops which was a bit rubbery and the Special was fresh brown trout, cooked to prefection.
Will definitely return!"

"Superb food, very good service, a little too noisy and toward the upper end of prices for top Toronto restaurants. We were delighted when they shut off the music and we could enjoy a conversation.
Everyone in our group of four was impressed with the innovateve food and presentation, that the waiter was thoroughly knowledgeable about the menu. The restaurant has many high quality touches.
I look forward to my next visit."

"I never write reviews but have to make an exception. Outstanding experience!! amazing service! Otherworldly food! We asked if the chef could make us a charcuterie platter to share among 6 people. Not only did he come up with one, it was the best charcuterie that I've had in a long time. It is even more impressive considering the fact that I am from Montreal and routinely order charcuterie at restaurants. Hands down, my favourite restaurant in TO!"

"The food was second to none and the Wine List was pretty accurate when described as "The Bible". This was one of the best dining experiences my boyfriend and I have ever had, and certainly the best in Toronto. This spot was a real find, one that we did not expect!"

"It's no surprise that this restaurant continues to be the best in Toronto. The food is unique, flavourful and unlike anything you'll experience anywhere else in the city. Simply tremendous. What sets Splendido even further apart from other dining experiences is the impeccable service. The staff is so attentive and knowledgeable. We were blown away by the entire experience including the shortbread gifted on the way out. It was worth every penny! Can't wait to go back."

"Overall, the food was fantastic and the food service was amazing. The wine service was not ideal. Two of the bottles we wanted were sold out and the Sommelier's first replacement suggestion was three hundred dollars more than the bottle we originally asked for. Her second suggestion was more in line with our original request. The wine experience wasn't as consumer friendly and inviting as the rest of the experience which just seemed like a disconnect.
They also charged quite a bit of money for tap water. We'd had three courses, pre-dinner drinks and wine, I was already spending a bit there without issue, charging me for the water just seemed cheap on their part."

"I chose Splendido for my wife's 30th birthday dinner based on the glowing reviews I'd seen. From the moment we entered, service was courteous, quick, and attentive without being overbearing. My wife's bibb salad was huge, way too much too finish as an appetizer, but she enjoyed it. I went with deer tartare to start, great combination with the pistachios. For mains, lamb confit was very tasty, but I preferred my wife's chicken entree which consisted of a grilled bbq breast and an asian style fried chicken salad, recommend! At the end of the meal, the waiter brought us a minature chocolate brownie cake with a candle, nice touch. Would definitely recommend for special occasions."

"Our meal was fantastic, but coming from NYC, it was average relative to many of the restaurants to which we have access. The wine list is beyond long, and a bit overpriced. The sommelier was also not much help, and tried to sell us on a more expensive bottle that we knew did not merit the price. Would definitely go back though... one of the best in Toronto."

"Terribly slow service. Waited 15 minutes to be asked for drink order/given dining menu. Poor response times for water refills. Server never checked on how we were enjoying our meals. Waited for 15 minutes for dessert menu after the table was cleared, never came so just asked for the bill and left.
On a side note, the chef and co-owner actually came out to serve and remove our dishes once each. Good for him, but obviously he too realized the service was subpar.
Food was good overall.
Unfortunately with so many other restaurants in Toronto that can provide as good of food but with better service, we will not be returning to this once gem in the city."

"Was surprised by the very poor service, ridiculously expensive winelist and medicore food. Very different from past experience at the old Splendido. We sat for 25 miinutes with a wines by the glass menu in front of us. No water, no bread, no menu. A waitress finally showed up which at our request elicited a wine menu and a dinner menu. The wine menu was horrendously overpriced, although we did manage to find a decent zin for $70. The app was a bizarre concoction of fried field mushrooms and jam.The main was a coldish supertiny piece of lobster which was plated cunningly over cold grapfruit on one- sixteenth of the plate, the rest of the plate being empty. Trust me this is not how the French do it!!"

"It has been a few years since I last dined at Spendido and I found my recent dining experience just as great as last time, although I would love to see the food (ribeye and bone marrow) a little less oily. The mushroom salad to start was excellent; the house desserts (marshmallows, chocolates, and macaroons) were delightful. Overall, I would recommend Splendido and consider going back again."

"I ate at Splendido the night of the big snowstorm in February and it was one of the better meals I've had in recent memory. Our service was absolutely impeccable (probably didn't hurt that the restaurant was only about half full thanks to snowstorm-related cancellations, but I get the feeling that it would have been just as friendly and attentive regardless) and the food was fantastic across the board.
We ordered from the new menu and loved everything. Highlights were the agnolotti appetizer and my veal chop main. The goat milk cheesecake dessert was another standout, as was the cardamom macaron it came with. The chef came out to check how we liked the new dishes, which was nice.
I will definitely be back."
