"I love Barbone. The tasting menu is a great way to try more of their delicious dishes. The owner and his staff are the kindest and most generous people. They treat you like long lost friends. The backyard is a lovely place to eat with friends. My favorite dishes are the scallops, the marrow, really there are so many. And they are not the typical Italian you get at every restaurant."

"Best bet east of 5th below 14th street. Fabulous tasting menus at great prices. Every dish with a distinctive tase and flavor. Open the menu, close your eyes and choose 5 or 7 dishes. No matter what you get you will be in heaven!"

"Comfortable neighborhood setting. My friend's enjoyed their pastas and calimari but my breaded asparagus a bit too chewy and oily....tempura like and I probably ordered wrong. The cornish hen was dry and possibly deep fried??? Could that be? The roasted potatoes with it seemed to be boiled rather than roasted. Sorry to complain as my friends love the place."

"It was a great restaurant with great service. The owner was extremely friendly. The food was great but I think I might have been over hyped by other people's reviews. It was still a wonderful restaurant though I'm not sure it was romantic or intimate as it is labeled on Yelp and other review sites. I really enjoyed the food and service and would go back again."

"Sloppy preparations: the 'seasoned breadcrumbs' on calamari were hardly crumbs, but industrialized croutons without a trace of flavor; fried asparagus tasted only of the batter, and the fennel pollen was missing from the chestnut ravioli, leaving it with a sweet, one-dimensional flavor. Scallops were nicely prepared, but for the most part, a well-conceived menu was poorly executed. Will not return."

"I went on Valentine's day and the waiter was great picked a great bottle of wine for us as well as helping me pick an entree they went together beautifully and we will be going back. Oh and the price was surprisingly low which made it even better."

"We walked in at 1030 at night and ordered tasting menus, they kept giving us extra courses because they were cleaning out their kitchen, they never rushed us, and they were the friendliest people on Earth. Their food is so fresh and well made. It's just a mind-blowing restaurant. I can't ever recommend this highly enough, and it saddens me that so few people know about this place. If you're within sight of my review, please, please take my advice and go. 5 course tasting menu for $39? 7 courses for $50?! Are you kidding me? GO. GO GO GO. Why are you reading this review instead of booking your reservation? Please, please believe me. You will love me later for having sent you there."
