What used to be a garage in the 20's is now a casual American restaurant famous for its live Jazz & late night meals. Out-of-towners & locals alike dive into the a la carte dinners & Prix Fixe Brunches while watching the show. In the summer, the outdoor cafe is an airy spot for micro-brewed beers, raw bar selections & a wide range of fresh seafood & grilled steaks. In the winter, tables around the stone fireplace warm crowds.

"The hostess was super rude when we asked for a high chair for my son. She said she cannot have a high chair on the 2nd floor?! Then why the heck did she have us sit on the 2nd floor when she saw that we were with a 18 month old child!
Also, she never asked us if everyone has arrived when we entered, yet after she seated us, she then asked about the person who has not yet arrived and said "you're not supposed to be seated unless everyone is here." I asked her to make an exception becuz of the young child with us; she made a face and left without saying a word.
the waitress was good and courteous though. she got us a high chair right away and brought it up to the 2nd floor."

"From the moment we sat down NOTHING went right. I dine out all the time. Several times a week and I can honestly say this was the
worst I have ever experienced. The server started out lecturing us about the "unlimited drinking options". My daughter took the unlimited diet coke option and ended up having to ask for a second. The breakfast came and the toast was cold and hard and not edible. The side of bacon was raw. We sent it back and was returned so black we couldn't eat it. The server had a terrible attitude from the beginning, even before the horrible food came out. Then at the end we had to ask for our bill and

"Good place for excellent food and late night Jazz. Best filet mignon that I found in NYC. However, the waiter was "sarcastically snobbish" and needs to learn not to talk about his patrons when the wait stand is within ear shot. However, putting that to the side, it was a great evening."

"My boyfriend and I went there for Sunday brunch. We both live jazz music. The restaurant has a nice decor and ambiance. The food was good however we wanted the bottomless brunch option but because I don't drink orange juice I could not have the mimosa and they refused to offer anything else such as a Bellini. We ended up having to take the one free cocktail (mimosa) which I ended up giving it to my boyfriend... Yey for him, boo for me."

"I was really unimpressed with Garage's Saturday jazz brunch, especially in light of a number of other much more promising brunch places in the area. While the prices are a little bit lower than many other downtown brunches, I would say the extra $2 for a place with better ambiance, service, and food is completely worth it. I gave them two stars for service because they take reservations and did take us even though one person in our party was extremely late; however, when notifying us that they needed to turn over our table for their next party, the server (who wasn't the one waiting on us during brunch,) was unbelievably rude, basically telling us to leave. Dark dining area, weak drinks, and mediocre food = pass on this place."

"My second visit to the Garage for Sunday Brunch. I'm not sure what they put into the food (maybe butter?), but it was once again truly outstanding. I had scrambled eggs that had to be some of the best I've ever had. It came with a piece of ham and I asked for an English Muffin (which they accommodated). I had asked them to hold the potatoes, but they brought them anyway. I'm not a fan of potatoes for breakfast, but these were delish!
My girlfriend had the Country Omelet and she also loved it.
So far, my favorite brunch in the West Village area."

"Went for brunch. At $16.95 you can't beat it. Only bummer was that if you wanted unlimited mimosas the whole group bass to order them. Having a pregnant woman with us we decided against it. In the end I didn't mind not having the drinks as I was distracted by the wonderful jazz being played in the background. I'm a jazz musician myself so I was worried about the caliber if musicians they would have but ws presently surprised by the quality and tactful selections for a brunch setting. Overall it was an amazing time and I really am looking forward to going back."

"We went for the unlimited drinks during brunch; however, the service was very slow about bringing the drinks. We received our food before we received our first glass. Our glasses were left empty several times for at least 10 minutes. The waiter would look at our table and then turn away. "This experience was a bit disappointing. We were "greeted" by an employee that seemed more bothered than anything at our arrival. Though brunch food typically lacks in quality, this food was not only uninspired it was subpar; a two dollar bacon, egg and cheese would have been more satisfying. The food came out so quickly it seemed there could have been a lot of reheated, canned products (particularly the hollandaise sauce). There are so many great places in the West Village, do yourself a favor and pop into another restaurant."

"This is a brunch review - I've never been here for dinner. Great place with live jazz plus an awesome location to start your weekend afternoon of shopping and exploring Greenwich Village/Soho etc. As always, I order the eggs benedict and am never disappointed. The potatoes on the side are a wonderful surprise, not sure what the seasoning mix is but delicious. They offer an unlimited drink option for 1 hour, and it's not a bad deal but if you are having a great brunch chatting away and enjoying yourself, not sure you are getting your $ worth - and the hour cut-off is strictly applied. It's a busy place too - they move you through quickly."

"We started out sitting at the bar, because we were early for our reservation, and we were celebrating our anniversary. The bartender was very helpful with our cocktail selections. When we were ready to be seated for dinner the staff was very friendly and attentive. The food, atmosphere and entertainment was excellent. There was a jazz quartet and we had a great view of the stage from our table and the music and singing was at just the right volume so as not to drown out our conversation. The Garage offers a great time to be had by all. Will definately return again soon."

"We used to like to go to Garage for Sunday Brunch whenever we visited NYC. However, this last time we were told when we got there about the one-hour limit “because we have so many reservations”. Well – don’t have as many reservations so that the diners aren’t rushed! I’m fine with the one hour limit of the all-you-can drink mimosas, etc., but we definitely felt pressure to leave. Service itself was very good and the food was very good (although we thought the serving size of the French toast was on the small side). The music was very loud; much louder than the last time we were there. Based on the time limit, I think we will look for a new brunch place next time."

"I grew up going to the Garage whenever my family visited NYC and I wanted to share that with mt fiancee so we went to Garage for their Jazz Brunch. They have a one hour dinning limit during their brunch because they have so many reservations, which I did not like but in the end I really didn't feel rushed at all and the music was excellent as always."

"Food was great and the wait staff know their stuff. Live jazz was a pleasant surprise. Depending on where you sit, the music can get a little loud so this is not necessarily the place to go when you want to have lots of conversation but overall it is a great experience."

"When I dine at a restuaraunts I do my homework. I do this because I like to be prepared. Well on Valentine's day, Garage pulled a bad version of a magic trick. They advertised a pre-fixed menu. However the Pre-fixed had no mention that the regular menu would not be avalaible. My girlfriend is a vegatarian. On their regular menu there are plenty of options. When I asked if we can get one thing off of the menu I was told "no, we don't have that". My issue here is that no where on the website was there a mention of a limited menu for that night. False advertising at it's best. The manager took my phone number I assumed to apolgize and day 6 and still no word. Obviously a restuaraunt that believes it is bigger than it customers."

"Great for brunch if you want a few cocktails. We got the all inclusive cocktails for one hour with our meals and had constant refreshment of our drinks (mimosas, bloody marys and vodka and orange). The jazz was a great band too (and better than the jazz brunch I went to at Blue note). I had the chicken quesadilla which was fine, but not exciting. My boyfriend had eggs which were good. The only thing I didn't like was how dark it was. But great value"

"This restaurant have so much potential, but had failed to deliver. We went on NYE 8 PM seating. Upon checking in with the host, we overhared that the the hostess told the group ahead of us that we were expected to be out by 10 PM. This is alright by us because we never wanted to be in a restaurant at the strike of midnight and have never spend more than 1 hour to 1.5 hour for any meals at any restaurant. This little details, however, wasn't clearly stated on the restaurant's website. Although I had requested a specific seating placement (away from the band but with a view of it) the duller hostess with no personality tried to seat us at a tiny table right behid the band stand. Foods were okay but not memorable and service mechanical."
