"Had my wife's birthday there and she could not have been happier. The service was great, and the food portions plentiful. More people came then the reservation, they were more then accommodating. No matter what dish was served everyone in the party loved it."

"however 3 out of 4 of us were disappointed in our entree. my husband loved his pork chop. the cheesecake dessert was excellent, the beet salad was excellent. unfortunately calamari was tough, french fries very forgettable, and most of our main dishes were just so-so: grouper with very plain rice (i twice needed my knife with the grouper), salmon was ok, shrimp/scallop risotto was ok. loved this restaurant several years ago and so looking forward to the meal. might try again to see if these entrees were a fluke. good location for the paramount theatre."

"I've been to dinner at Huntington's Honu Kitchen on Saturday nights and couldn't hear myself or my dinner companion's conversation, so I had my trepidations about Mother's Day brunch there. To my pleasant surprise, the sound system was subdued, the noise level was moderate, and the entire experience was enjoyable. The time between our orders being taken and our food emerging was rather long, but the waiter sent over a second basket of mini-muffins while we were waiting without being asked, so we didn't starve. Don't know if brunch is a regular thing at Honu, but if not it should be, since they handled it quite well."

"Right across the street from the Paramount Theatre in Huntington, Honu was the ideal place to enjoy a meal before the show. Staff is professional and courteous. "I've been here many times and the food is always great. Our server this time was terrible. It was my husband and his friends birthday day so we asked for a dessert with a candle to sing happy birthday. He just plopped it down on the table and left - no singing - not even a Happy Birthday. He was a very matter of fact who was basically just there to take and serve orders. He was not friendly at all and he had no personality. He didn't ask us if we wanted coffee or drinks after dinner and just put the check on the table and left."

"This was my second visit to Honu Kitchen and it was as enjoyable as the first time. We first spent time at the gorgeous bar having drinks before dinner. They have a very good happy hour with $5 drink specials. Ordered a mango martini for $5. It was restaurant week and we expected a smaller menu selection but to our surprise and delight they presented their entire menu to choose from. Service was great and the food was delicious. It was our anniversary dinner and we could not have enjoyed ourselves more. I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant."

"I recently came to HONU for my birthday with a large group (and during restaurant week no less). The food was excellent (not a single person in a table of 15 complained, but instead all praised their meals). The restaurant is beautiful. "We have bypassed Honu quite a few times and finally made a reservation. We had a nice early dinner with drinks and wine before a show in Huntington. Waite staff was wonderful. Food was very good. Duck Confit and scallops were excellent. My friends all had steaks and they were cooked perfectly.
The atmosphere is vibrant so it has some level of ambiant noise. This did not detract form our dinner as we knew this from othr reviews.
A Definate return is in order."

"We've been the Honu several times previously, and it is typically very good. We had a problem with how our food was served (appetizers and main dishes together), but to the credit of the Maitre'd, we were treated very well (apologetic, with free dessert for the gaffe, plus appetizers on the house). The food was very good, and we had pretty diverse menu items ranging from salad, shrimp cocktail, short ribs, and fish. The error in service in no way interfered with our enjoyment. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant, and will happily return again. Diners should be aware that Honu on a Friday or Saturday night is hopping with a very busy bar scene."

"Don't book too late, they will keep emphasizing that the kitchen closes at ten, although open table allows you to make reservations there up to 9:45pm. I'm a definite Foody and this spot has the look but, the food is eh! I had to bring my skirt steak home and re season to enjoy with the overwhelming amount of spinach they put on my plate. I have never been served that much spinach at one time. I probably won't return until they announce a new chef."

"We had an 8:30pm reservation and were nervous when we arrived and most tables were empty. By the time we left (10:30pm) the restaurant was packed and there was a 30 minute wait for tables. Definitely a later crowd. Everything about our dinner was great. We will surely be back."

The waiter was terrible (didn't tell us about the specials, disappeared for at least 10 minutes when we got our food and when we got our check), and the food itself was underwhelming.
